Judging by videos posted on YouTube, it's clear that she was playing to more than 5k-6k audiences. A couple prime examples of that from her Play On Tour were the Hollywood Bowl show in California and her St. Pete's Time Forum show in Florida. The Florida show registered at around 6k-7k in attendance on the boxscore, but if you YouTube search a video of her on the flying pick-up truck there, even the nosebleeds in the top of the rafters were filled to the back. With the Hollywood Bowl, even signs were posted at the venue the night of the concert that it was 100% sold out, but the boxscore came back with a 98% capacity rating. Obviously that's still amazing, but Billboard's gone wacko these past few years, so I wouldn't be surprised if these numbers were very preliminary and there were many more in attendance than reported. You can't judge by how many people "appear" to be attendance because there's something called "papering the house" where a lot of free tickets are given out that aren't paid for to make the venue look fuller and comp regular patrons of the venue. Where have you read about this ? I can't imagine any significant amount of free tickets being given out in advance, other than for radio promo, label promo, contests, etc. Let's not forget that Carrie played at some of the largest indoor urban venues in North American during the first leg of 'Blown Away' tour, including Staples Center, United Center, Air Canada Centre, etc. Carrie is one of the few solo female artists today who could even book, let alone sell out, such venues. For the second leg of the tour, she seems to have chosen mid-sized cities, many of which have mid-sized arenas, simply to increase her geographic catchment area or audience. I think this strategy utilizing fanbase retention and expansion to some degree is not only conceptually brilliant, but also seems to be successful for Carrie, considering she is in her 8th year as a mainstream country artist with still a stellar radio record and amazing, consistent album and single sales. The industry's EOTY snubs are quite sickening to be honest.......

I can't imagine any significant amount of free tickets being given out in advance, other than for radio promo, label promo, contests, etc. Google the phrase and you'll find that it's a common practice. I'm sure concert promoters know how well the ticket sales are going and if there's going to be a large batch empty seats somewhere, those are given away a short time before the event starts and not available to people strolling up a half hour before the show starts trying to buy tickets, thus appearing to be "sold out." Casino venues are notorious for comp tickets for high rollers, and I've heard of more than half the house seats in those venues being papered for some artists. I have no doubt Carrie sold the vast majority of the tickets, but sometimes a box office person saying a show is "sold out" doesn't mean that all those seats being filled were actually sold at full price.

Has someone already posted? Smash Star Megan Hilty To Release Debut Album - It Happens All The Time Available March 12th 2013 from Portrait and Columbia Records
Megan Hilty's debut album, It Happens All The Time will be available March 12, 2013 from Portrait, Sony Masterworks' new adult contemporary imprint, in partnership with Columbia Records. The album is produced by Grammy-winners Andy Zulla and Jimmy Hogarth and showcases a different side of Hilty, the beloved star of the hit musical TV drama series Smash.
Songs featured on It Happens All The Time include Hilty's fresh interpretations of compositions by stellar contemporary songwriters as Aimee Mann, Sara Bareilles, Bruno Mars and Damien Rice. Also noteworthy are new songs by writers such as Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, Duffy), Wayne Hector (James Morrison, One Direction), Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette, Wilson Phillips), Ne-Yo and Carrie Underwood.
-----
Of the original songs on It Happens All The Time, Hilty cites "Be A Man" as "one of the ultimate breakup songs. It begs someone to tell you how they really feel and that the relationship is over." She also points to "Walk Away" (co-written by Ne-Yo, Carrie Underwood and Luke Laird) for its message of empowerment in the face of a painful breakup. Keeping with the theme of new beginnings, "No Cure" is unique to the rest of the album in that co-writer Hogarth joined her on vocals, giving it the feel of a duet, which Hilty loved.

I thought I remember reading she wrote with NeYo. Sucks she didn't get a song out of it. So BHC is getting released in the UK this week? How does radio work over there? Will she promote it?

I expect her to be on top of this list when everything is said and done! Plus, she accumulated those 13 number 1s in such a short amount of time! :)

iPhone 4S quality (aka shit), but here's "See You Again"!
Oh! And I asked Carrie what night she's performing at the CMA Fest, and she said that she's closing the festival on Sunday night (June 9)!

I'm starting to think it would be a good idea as a single seeing as how it's one of the most well liked songs on the album.

I just can't see SYA fitting in at either country or pop. It would do well at AC and Hot AC, and probably at country due to Carrie's name, but I'd rather she send out a countrier-sounding single next, considering the first three have all been quite pop/rock influenced. There are some fantastic country songs on the album, but radio-only listeners probably don't know that yet.

Carrie's ability to take a song a sing it live better than the recording is astonishing!! Her SYA performance sounded nothing short of fantastic!!

I'm starting to think it would be a good idea as a single seeing as how it's one of the most well liked songs on the album. I wouldn't say that. I would say Do You Think About Me and Wine After Whiskey are the most well liked (of the non-singles, of course). Although many people here love the idea of it being a single, there are also some who do not want it released (Similar to One Way Ticket, except I think that song would fit the overall country crowd better and would showcase a different side of Carrie). I agree with countrygirl918 that See You Again sounds much more like an AC type song that is just not popular nowadays. Yes, Carrie sings the song beautifully (and watching the video 14887fan posted, the live version is immaculate), but I don't think it's the right type of song for country radio. If a ballad is next, Do You Think About Me and Wine After Whiskey are much better choices. Good In Goodbye would be a better choice. Heck, even Thank God For Hometowns would be better for country radio, in my opinion.

Why does everyone always want her to have a hit on pop radio? She has specifically said in the past that she has no interest on crossing over. And I respect her more for it. She's a country singer and is proud to sing only country music.

She's a country singer and is proud to sing only country music. I agree. Unless Carrie changes her stance on remixing and decides to cater to pop radio, nothing she releases will truly "cross over". If songs like Undo It, Good Girl and Blown Away couldn't cross over naturally, I don't think anything ever will. Pop radio has changed since the days Before He Cheats crossed over - they now expect pop remixes (no matter how "pop" the original version sounds) and usually expect something out of the artists themselves too. Carrie has shown absolutely no desire to cater to pop radio. She seems quite content with her place at country radio and promoting country music wherever she goes, including overseas.

I need See You Again to be the next single. It could do something at Pop. Because Carrie songs are so often sent to Pop? ??? Anyway, I don't know why people want all of the singles to be so non-country.

So disappointed I won't get to see Carrie on AXS TV tonight.
On the subject of "See You Again:" I love it, but I don't want it to be a single.
I think it sounds VERY pop, and I would like to see Carrie release something like WAW, OWT, or DYTAM next.
Any singles chosen would do well because Carrie's name is attached to them, but at this point, I'd like to see her release something a little more fitting for country radio.
And, contrary to popular belief, I think WAW has a VERY good chance of becoming a single. It's got strong lyrics, it's a Carrie cowrite, and Carrie's voice is gorgeous on it. I think it could appeal to both traditionalists and modern fans, the same way ITYS did, too. The label has taken 3 risks with the single choices so far, and I'd like to see that continue.

I don't care if it sounds Pop. At this point, we've all come to realize that anything Carrie puts out to radio will go #1, if not Top 2. Even her massively pop-leaning songs ("Cowboy Casanova", "Blown Away", etc.) have become career-defining hits for her, especially the latter of the two. "See You Again" would sound INCREDIBLE over the radio, and releasing pop-leaning material would give her even larger chances to crossover to, at the very least, AC/HAC.
SYA is an ideal single choice, in my opinion, as are "Good in Goodbye", "Wine After Whiskey", and "Do You Think About Me". "One Way Ticket" would be an easy #1 hit for the summer, too, but it's nowhere near the quality of those first four that I listed.
