Marie Fredriksson of Roxette passed away this morning. Now it's really beginning to feel like December.

Edgar Wright's top songs of the year. Once again it has a fair share of indie/rock stuff. No surprise at King Gizzard at #1.

Once again come the new releases for December from Frontiers Records. This month features new releases from Edge Of Forever, House Of Shakira, The Murder Of My Sweet, Tony Harnell, and some new bands like A New Tomorrow, and my favorite Passion. He also speaks of upcoming releases for Janurary 2020 and hints of a return of a big 80's rock band to the label. I think he may be hinting at Ratt, who have recently got together.

Title track off L. A. GUNS brand new album on Frontiers Records. This one has a fierce Black Sabbath vibe, and just as good as the latest Ozzy singles.

Perhaps the greatest to ever play the drums died today.
Thanks for all of the great music and incredible drum work, Neil. You really were the best.

I gather that will be the first single off "Citizens of Boomtown"? The song is decent. Maybe its just been a while since I heard him sing, but something about Bob tho. He sounds different.

I haven't made one of these lists in about a month as it was the dead zone time of year in terms of new albums being released. Last Friday actually had some drop that were certainly worthy of mentioning here.

Not enough promotion of newer music. There's been plenty of great, guitar-driven rock music produced in the last 10 years, and especially in the last five, so this is not how things should be. Ever since Top 40 radio completely removed all guitar-driven rock music from their catalogs in 2012, we've still seen "A Warrior's Call," "Hail To The King," "Heaven Knows," "Words As Weapons," "The Sound Of Silence" (Disturbed), "Rx (Medicate)," "Highway Tune" and "Zombie" (Bad Wolves) break through into the 1,000,000 Shazams club, which proves that current guitar-driven rock still has a market if only the industry would bother promoting it. Here's hoping they do, and that guitar-driven rock reemerges back in the musical mainstream in this new decade.

If any of you remember Stroke 9 or Mest, hey they have new albums out today too!
If I did miss anything else that came out today, please comment it below.

The industry has brought into the "rock is dead" narrative and much of the music press will disparage and suppress any "real rock" artist threatening to break out. Pitchfork's hit job on Greta Van Fleet masquerading as an album review being Exhibit A.

To expand on my point, the only thing that will bring guitar rock back is a "Smells Like Teen Spirit"-esque phenomenon that drags the industry kicking and screaming into taking notice. There will be no other way because even the alternative format is uninterested in playing anything louder than Cage the Elephant. We've gone from Chevelle being too loud for some alt stations in 2012 to Foo Fighters becoming too loud in 2017 to The Black Keys becoming too loud now.
Even White Reaper, despite it's current top 5 place right now, has a number of Alt stations refusing to play "Might Be Right" because it rocks too hard, and White Reaper is definitely the gentlest of the "rock revival" artists to emerge the last few years.
If that's the situation on Alt, the situation on Pop is many times worse.
It has to be something so much of an instant classic there can't be resistance to it. We will likely not see this song, if it shall exist, until 2021. Until then we'll have to wait.

I think we're pretending that Pitchfork didn't play a crucial role in rock's fall from grace in pop culture honestly.
