What I would like to do is compile complete chart runs for every song this year and post them somewhere. It’s a bit of work but I’ll see if I can do it for each song. In the future I’ll look into setting up a website with complete chart runs for each song on Alt that’s charted since September 10, 1988. That’s a lot of work but I think it’s possible to make something great with that info.
“Me & You Together Song” - The 1975 Peak: 17 (2) Weeks On: 18
“Check Your Phone” - Cheap Cuts f/ Pete Wentz Peak: 30 (1) Weeks On: 6
“Half Your Age” - Joywave Peak: 27 (2) Weeks On: 15

Can’t say I’m too sad to see High Hopes gone and the chart revamped. This chart has always been mostly alternative + some active + some songs that won’t chart on either format. Hopefully the top 3 doesn’t get too stagnant like it used to do at times.

The thing I find most interesting about the rebranding of Hot Rock Songs to Hot Rock & Alternative Songs is that Billboard seem to have reconsidered what they consider 'Alternative'. As of this week it seems like anything that charts on Alternative radio goes. Songs that Billboard did not consider for 'Alternative' charts up until this week are 'City of Angels' and 'Death Bed', and I think 'Lay Your Head on Me' too. Though this does not work for Triple A, as 'July' would have charted. So... is "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi Rock/Alt since it charted on AAA? Is "Lean On" by Major Lazer Rock/Alt because KROQ/WNYL play them? Are "Adore You", "If the World Was Ending" and "You Say" Rock/Alt because the AAA KINK-FM plays them?

Anyone know how the year-end chart would work for the new rebranded chart? I'd imagine they'd just continue since it's mostly the same chart, but it's still a different chart so... idk.

kinda surprised they didn’t let Circles chart, yet again who knows how long it would stay #1

Would anyone mind posting the new charts? (Hot Alternative, Hot Hard Rock and Alternative Streaming Songs) I noticed that Take What You Want and Play Date are on Alt Streaming songs

My next question would be how would rock songs that don't fall in either category would be categorized. (E.g. Living in a Ghost Town)

Hot Alternative Songs? So what's happening to the other Alternative Songs chart? This all seems kinda unnecessary.

Hot Alternative Songs? So what's happening to the other Alternative Songs chart? This all seems kinda unnecessary. Well Alternative Songs was always based on what alternative radio stations are playing, Hot Alternative Songs is a combination of Sales, Streaming and also radio(I would imagine radio is included but not entirely sure)? My guess is that they'll probably rename Alternative Songs to Alternative Airplay or something same thing goes to Mainstream Rock

I really want Hot Alternative songs to be extended so more songs can chart on it. 25 songs just seems too small. Even from 1988 until September 1994 when the chart was still pretty new, it still had 30 positions.

Even from 1988 until September 1994 when the chart was still pretty new, it still had 30 positions. That was for the alt airplay chart, not the SPS one used for the new chart. This is probably similar to the Hot Rap Songs chart whereby there are rap songs on the Hot 100 below the #25 of Hot Rap Songs.

Aside from a few songs you could rename That HOT ROCKS SONGS Chart "SONGS Doc Indie Party Rock WOULD NEVER CHART" Chart. That top 10 could easily be my bottom 10 on 2020 PULSE YE RD. My favorite chart is the Hard Rock Streaming Songs. Every one of those is a classic. Even the two Linkin park songs are passable. Funny enough most of these songs didn't even make the Rock YE charts. According to that chart these two would have been the top songs of the 1988 Rock year 1. Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine 2. Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar On Me Now that makes sense.

For those wondering, no, I'm not going to do videos for any of the charts posted above. And yes, I'm AAA Charts on YouTube. My display name is after the Triple A format. Every week (usually Thursday) I post videos for the alt, active rock (now mainstream rock) and AAA charts. I also used to post the Rock Airplay charts, but got rid of them earlier this year to focus on the other three formats. Part of this is also to not have to deal with people complaining how the songs are not 'rock'. (I still post them in the comments on the alt chart video)

Back on the subject on the new Hot Rock and Alternative chart...I read in the Billboard article that it is like the Hot 100 but just for the rock genre (combining Sales, Radio, YouTube and Streaming)... plus the regular radio charts that we montor are still around Attachment Deleted

I have always been against the whole getting points when people stream your song because sometimes we just preview songs out of curiosity. I'm really not sure how they monitor the streams, but lets say I'm previewing songs for a rank down on youtube or spotify. I might actually hate some songs on the list, but I still have to stream them. So am I helping out a song I hate with streaming points? Also what if a band I really like puts out a new song. Can I just go on different laptops, and stream it a bunch of times so it gets points for streaming? How does that whole streaming thing even work, because I don't wanna help out songs I hate.
What about downloads? I think your song should get double or triple points for those, because that means the listener really likes the song.

it’ll be interesting to see what happens with Run The Jewels this week since some of their songs are getting adds on alt radio, wouldn’t mind seeing JU$T or pulling the pin debut

The hot alt songs chart is PITIFUL. Wow. I’m super disappointed. If all of the songs chart on it will also chart on hot rock songs, what is the point if its existence? If it had 50 slots (or even 30) it might feel worthwhile.

^^^ Yeah, it’s super disappointing. Also, it had two new entries this week, both of which were pretty bad. Pretty much everything else remained the same.
TW LW Song Artist Peak 24 New Ur So cOoL - Tones and I 24 25 New Lay Your Head On Me - Major Lazer f/ Marcus Mumford 25
Also the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart was just as uneventful. Here’s what entered and re-entered there. Also a bit unrelated but that “Mariposa” song that’s on both of those charts is definitely being sent to alt very soon. I bet it’ll do well. That sucks. You guys are gonna hate that one lol.
