105.3 Dave-FM...you know, the Jack-FM wannabe that cloaked themselves as "Totally Random Radio". They're already stunting after a year-and-a-half with promos 'spotlighting the history of Alternative “Live 105” on the frequency' (if that's not a huge clue), knowing that Dave-FM would never work in the bay area. At first I thought this was Audacy becoming cynical with a course correction like this (even if it ends up successful like Cumulus's 99X Atlanta), but now I feel like it's more a desperation move for the company. I mean, have you seen their shaky situation in the stock market as of late? From Radio Insight: radioinsight.com/headlines/252703/105-3-dave-fm-san-francisco-in-stunt-mode/

Yeah, I hope that I didn't open up the door to more dead-horse beatings on the subject here, as well. But honestly, same, and going through the thread I'm sorry you had to put up with that level of ineptitude. I'm just glad that I run my own mock-station project, and not deal with those folks.

True, I felt like I was a bit too annoying as well, but man, I just really like a lot of the music and still do and enjoy the wild ride the format has given us still, there's so much potential to me the past couple years. :/

Hoping it does well, San Fran deserves a good alternative station, as the previous alt 105.3 before DAVEFM didn't seem to do well. They need that classic Live 105 again but mixing the good modern stuff going on.

The metal band currently wearing the crown on my weekly charts. Steel Panther slays on America's got talent. Season 18 gets off to a blazing start. Standing ovation before they even play the jam. The only one they could play was "Eyes of A Panther". It's their signature song. It's balls out fierce. Everyone loved them. Howie says it best. This music needs to return to the forefront. 80's Hair Metal rules. Need I say more. I couldn't be happier for the band.

You are right they do slay on the tours and live performances. Maybe just to get a shot at becoming more mainstream. Whatever the reason behind it People loved the NRG they brought to the stage. E.G. Daily did something similar way into her singing and acting career on the Voice. and Elena Ferretti an already established Italo disco/Eurobeat artist did something similar on The Voice Senior. Maybe there have been more instances? I just follow the artists I actually care about.

This will be a strange one to watch. I wonder if a "new" Beatles song will resonate when it finally comes out, or if it'll just be a curiosity. www.npr.org/2023/06/13/1181906529/beatles-john-lennon-voice-song-aiThe Beatles have completed a new recording using an old demo tape by John Lennon, thanks to AI tools that isolate Lennon's voice, according to Paul McCartney. ... But if you're picturing McCartney sitting at a keyboard and telling ChatGPT, "sing a John Lennon verse," that's not what happened. Instead, they used source material from a demo recording that Lennon made before his death in 1980.

Speaking of Live 105, they may have ended one of my favorite out-of-state online-listening Alts, Sonoma County's "The 101"; their last day is Monday. They say it was just a coincidence with Live 105's return, who knows? They had a 2.2 rating in the latest book, which isn't all that awful for an Alt; and no, it's not a MediaBase or BB reporter, that's market #572!
So I welcome suggestions for smaller-market Alts which are cool and distinctive and have bigger libraries of songs, to fill that slot in my online listening rotation! The smallest reporter to MediaBase is market #155, Montgomery AL; so anything from #156 to infinity I'm ready to try out!

They air Guardians games and local high school football games in the fall. They also have a limited signal. I live in the county directly to the east and I have to listen to the station online.

I calculated the top 100 Alt groups for the 2000s based on Year End charts listed under the rankdowns.
51-100 were exact inverse, for 21-50 I kept doing inverse but with a difference of 2 pts between each ranking, then a difference of 4 points between each ranking from 11-20, 8 points difference for each ranking from 6-10, 16 points difference for 3-5, then 32 points difference for 2 and 64 point difference for 1.
For example: #1 : 334 points #2 : 270 points #3 : 238 points #4 : 222 points #5 : 206 points #6 : 190 points #11 : 150 points #21 : 110 points #51 : 50 points #100 : 1 point

Love seeing Nickelback so high in the top 20, but not fan of STP showing up that low. Other bands I'm surprised, but love seeing on this list are Lit, Panic! At The Disco(they were more like (what POP should sound like to me)) , Lifehouse (perfect HotAC vibes), Fuel, Creed, AFI, Distrubed, and Puddle of Mudd. Green Day would easily be my #1.

Woah that sucks. AA was a great resource for those of us who follow radio but are not in the industry (and don't have full subscriptions to Billboard).

As a surprisingly quick update to this news, as reported themselves, JBE will open their new airplay monitoring system (powered by Soundcharts) on Monday. (I know the following has been included in the JBE Charts thread, but for sake of convenience, here it is on this thread, as well.) --- "Chart weeks begin at Midnight on Monday morning and end at 11:59 p.m. on Sundays (all times EDT). By 8 a.m. Monday morning, the final chart for the week will be compiled and loaded. The published Top 50 charts (Tracks & NC) will be released publicly at 5 p.m. on Monday afternoon. On Monday, July 24, the full charts will be for Week 29. All Week 30 data will be the following Monday’s building chart. The web address for subscribers to log in is www.jackbartonentertainment.net.
During the reporting week, you will be able to see spins build on a daily basis by logging into the system.
Subscribers will receive an email by Friday, July 21 with new Login information for the current registered user.
Prior airplay on the self-reported charts will not be able to be carried into the monitored system. All historical data is based on the information Soundcharts has been gathering up to this point. The front end of the current system will remain active through August 31 for reference purposes only.
At the outset, Adds will be generated based on a spins+ number of consecutive weeks formula. This is an experiment. If, after 90-days, we find this is not acceptably accurate, we will build a self-reporting Add Board ONLY.
Stations no longer need to report their adds/spins and that side of the system is now inactive. They will be notified via email if we convert to self-reported adds."

Or at least take their current philosophy of diverse programming and apply it to an HD2 station dedicated to new stuff. That's for sure! I've started listening to Bandtango out of Corpus Christi, they're seriously heavy on newer stuff, rotating as often as many CHRs do. They throw in a few old tunes, but it's not copious; the problem with my local Alt is they're very recurrent/recent-heavy, which is very tiresome, but of course they're trying to skim listeners off CHR and Rock. Oof, this is depressing, apparently it wasn't working, or they decided it wouldn't work: I'm listening now, and it's gone gold and recurrent, with just a smidgen of currents. It used to be just 1-2 gold/recurrents an hour, but now it's flipped to the opposite. But there are reporters who aren't heavy on currents already, so they probably won't get dropped; but it will take a big hickey out of the next chart! Here're the plays for their most-recent week: 115 CRYING IN THE SHOWER Letdown. 107 CANNONBALLERS Colony House 101 CALL ME WHAT YOU LIKE Lovejoy 101 EMERGENCY CONTACT Pierce The Veil 100 STUCK Thirty Seconds To Mars 97 RESCUE ME Dirty Heads 95 HELLO Grouplove 73 CALM DOWN All Time Low 72 JUST PRETEND Bad Omens 72 LIVING IN A HAZE Milky Chance 72 SPELLBINDING The Smashing Pumpkins 70 ALL CAPS Weathers featuring John The Ghost 69 IN MY HEAD Mike Shinoda featuring Kailee Morgue 50 RAW RAW K.Flay 47 EAT YOUR YOUNG Hozier 46 DOWN HERE WAITING Blue October 38 CHEMICAL Post Malone 36 IF YOU'RE BLUE Joan Jett and The Blackhearts 33 LOST Bring Me The Horizon 33 OVERCOME Nothing But Thieves 33 RUNNING OUT OF TIME Paramore 32 THE DUMB SONG AJR 32 THE NARCISSIST Blur 32 NOT STRONG ENOUGH Boygenius 32 KID The Revivalists 31 HOLLYWOOD BABY 100 gecs 31 OUT OF MY MIND Little Image 20 FAVORITE DAZE Neon Trees 16 TIME TRAVELER Jakobs Castle 15 WHO'S LAUGHING NOW Durry 15 BRIGHTSIDE The Lumineers 15 NOSEBLEEDS MisterWives 15 PULL ME THROUGH Royal Blood 15 GIVING UP The Used 15 LOWLIFE Yungblud 14 ODYSSEY Beck and Phoenix 14 DEF CONS Codefendants 14 LAST RESORT Falling In Reverse 14 DAYTRIPPIN' Iration 14 I CAN DO BETTER THAN YOU Little Hurt 14 SAIL AWAY lovelytheband 14 TOO GOOD AT RAISING HELL The Struts 14 SUREFIRE Wilderado 13 THE BRIDGE D4vd 13 SAY YES TO HEAVEN Lana Del Rey 13 HOLD ME LIKE A GRUDGE Fall Out Boy 13 DIAL DRUNK Noah Kahan 12 SPINNING THE TRUTH AROUND Blue October 12 WHERE WE ARE The Lumineers 11 LEMON Smith

I feel like things have definitely slowed down for me since the Spring, only for it to pick back up a bit this month. Actually more than anything, it feels like 2023 has been the year of growers / songs that take time to really get into.
