So what is the voice in the background during the breakdowns? It keeps saying "yup, yup, yup, yup" or something like that. It's also in Rihanna's "Cockiness." It's really creepy.  It's very common on RedOne productions. He does those background vocals himself. ^ These background vocals have been starting to get on my nerves lately. |

I saw the power of this track first hand at a Bat Mitzvah party this weekend. This song was the hottest song at the party! There were 50 or 60 7th grade girls and boys that went nuts... Could be a future #1 song!

She really needs to get one of Katy Perry's music video directors for the video to this single. I feel it will be generic like the Stupid Hoe video but if it's doing this well without a video, she shouldn't even have to try hard.

She overdid it on the plastic surgery. Her hips don't even look remotely real, nor does her butt. Plus her nose is fake. It's such a shame because she used to be hot before all of this surgery. I'm glad she didn't take the space video route though because that would be too similar to Katy Perry's E.T. or Ashanti's new video which is a straight rip of E.T. with a little Justin Timberlake Love Stoned/I Think She Knows thrown in.

I realized today whilst the embarrassingly small number of lines of this song that I know were revolving around in my head that the thing that is most 'off' about this song for me is that it just feels like such a false identity. Nicki sounded 'natural' and 'right' on almost all if not all of the songs on her debut album, including "Super Bass", to me, but this one really doesn't sound like her at all. This kind of redone RedOne electro-pop just really doesn't fit her. "Starships" to me is like if you made Flo Rida belt out some Kelly-style pop-rock ... or if you put Katy Perry in a burqa. I'm not trying to say that this is a bad song, and I do really like it, but I feel that it would work much better had it been given to a different pop diva.

Yeah I know what you mean. She used to be seen as a kinda hard ass and now she is singing songs like this. I remember when it was cool to like her because she was so out there and she was tough. Now I dont know anymore.
