HITS:
ONE DAYS: Look for Adele's 21 to spend her 23rd week atop the album charts next week, and it might be her last one for now with Columbia labelmate Bruce Springsteen’s Wrecking Ball set to hit retail next Tuesday (3/6).
The only new release this week that initially appears to be higher than 15k is WZRD, an alternative rock duo consisting of Kid Cudi and producer Dot da Genius, on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. label through Universal Republic, which will land in the 70-80k range

Damn, that means Estelle..... Is that really a surprise? I mean, c'mon... Also, pretty expected for WZRD. The album is garbage, but I like to see Cudi do well.

15K for the Cranberries? :( Though I suppose without a hit, and little hype or promo, it's to be expected. I got the CD today (along with their Greatest Hits CD, which I never got around to picking up until now since I have their first four CDs) but I don't even know what the current single is right now. Is it still Tomorrow?

Haven't the Cranberries been all over TV for the past three weeks? I feel like I always see their name on the talk show listings.

Changes to the New Release Schedule: I know these aren't your personal predictions, but I think that Nicki Minaj is being seriously overestimated and Jason Mraz is being seriously underestimated by them. Time will tell, of course ;)

I personally have heard nothing about the new Cranberries record. Not even the slightest buzz.
I also agree with j74 about Nicki and Jason.

I think Nicki's prediction is overestimated.

Changes to the New Release Schedule: 3/26: Katy Perry first week added: 39k Guess they finally learned after the 700k expected for the album. Although 39k could still be too much.

I think Katy will do at least 70K. They are probably just underestimating because they flat out screwed up last time.

Only 39K for Katy and 500+ for Nicki? Seems a bit off.

Interesting, I just noticed that Nicki's releasing the week leading to Easter Sunday, which is a week that always sees higher sales numbers. Idk if she'd benefit from that, but who knows.
I remember Bieber releasing My World 2.0 two weeks before Easter, and his second week sales actually increased because of the holiday.

I'd be very happy with that Madonna number.

I remember Bieber releasing My World 2.0 two weeks before Easter, and his second week sales actually increased because of the holiday. I think Bieber benefited from the holiday in his second week mostly because his album was a no-brainer choice for parents to give their pre-teen children for Easter. Nicki's doesn't quite share that characteristic.

Katy's is just a re-release with only 3 songs, of which 2 are leftovers from the original release, so that would seem about right. How Nicki is gonna come close to 500k however....

That Madonna number is pretty weak for her (not saying it's wrong though) -- I know Hard Candy had a much bigger hit off of it, but to barely scrape 200k would put her in jeopardy of not even selling 500k total in the long run.

As a lifelong Prince fan, I need Adele's run to stop at 23 weeks. She's too close to Purple Rain's 24 week run!
I know, I know, records fall...and if anyone is going to bump PR down the all-time list I guess 21 isn't such a bad option...

^Yes, Train's last album sold over 1 million.
It's only a 3k difference.

^When was Jason's last album? 3+ years ago?
Train is coming off a successful comeback album.
Again, this discussion is over a 3,000 difference, not 30k.

But it should be a difference of 30k or more, in the other direction. Train is coming off a successful comeback album that was driving by a smash single whose fans were fans of the song, but, for the most part, couldn't care less about Train. Jason has a stronger following.

Adding a 23rd week to its run at #1, Adele's 21 is once again set to top next week's chart. The late Whitney Houston will occupy four spots in the Top 10, a feat not seen since July 19, 2009, when Michael Jackson, also following his death, placed six titles in the Top 10. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:
Adele 21 (XL/Columbia) 215-225k Whitney Houston Greatest Hits (RCA) 105-115k *WZRD (G.O.O.D./Universal Republic) 75-80k The Bodyguard soundtrack (RCA) 50-55k Tyga (Cash Money/Universal Republic) 40-45k Now 41 (Capitol/EMI) 35-40k Adele 19 (XL/Columbia) 30-35k Whitney Houston Whitney Houston (RCA) 25-30k Whitney Houston I Look To You (RCA) 25-30k Drake (YM/CM/Universal Republic) 23-27k Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 21-24k fun. (Fueled by Ramen) 21-24k Van Halen (Interscope) 18-21k 2012 Grammy Nominees (Universal Republic) 17-20k Gotye (Fairfax/Universal Republic) 17-20k
*Debut (3/1p)

Wow at "I Look To You" back in the top 10. I'm most happy about that more than any of the other Whitney placings.

Adele to hit 8m in two or three weeks.
Then she will have another 40 weeks before the end of the year to sell 2 mil, which would need a weekly average of 50k.

Whitney could have 4 albums in the Top 10.
