Rumour Has It in the top 40? Awesome! That makes 4 songs in the top 40 for Adele.

I wish Party Rock Anthem, Someone Like You, Moves Like Jagger, Rolling in the Deep, TOTGA and Without You would fall off soon, as well.

You can delete digital downloads off your computer. (not saying fridayteenage for sure bought it but giving him the benefit of the doubt :)) If I pay 10 bucks for an album and I don't like 5 of the songs, why would I delete them? Itunes has a preview button and gives you the option to cherry-pick for this reason I don't know? Was simply defending the possibility of fridayteenage having bought the album digitally (and thus, being able to delete the files) before him getting jumped on.

Itunes has a preview button and gives you the option to cherry-pick for this reason I've deleted songs that I have bought. First you might end up getting sick of it, no need of it taking up space in your computer. Second, and this happens alot. Itunes and Amazon sale price their digital albums for 3.99, 4.99, 5.99 ect. I might like 5 songs, but it's cheaper to buy the entire album at amazon for 5.99 then buy them individually.

GMAYL may only spend 5 weeks on the chart. How many other top tens have had such short chart lives?

From what I can tell, in recent years:
2011 Loser Like Me: No. 6/3 weeks on chart If This Was a Movie: No. 10/2 weeks on chart
2010 We Are the World 25: No. 2/5 weeks Speak Now: No. 8/3 weeks
2009 Jump Then Fall: No. 10/3 weeks He Could Be The One: No. 10/5 weeks
2008 Change: No. 10/3 weeks
2007 I'll Stand By You: No. 6/5 weeks

^Glee Cast, a couple of Taylor Swift singles, etc. Any that were actually "radio singles" like GMAYL was? And do you have the specific examples? EDIT: Just saw the above post!

I think "Loser Like Me" was a "radio single"; not sure about "We Are the World 25." The others, I don't think so.

I'm glad shinedown is still there. I wonder if it will reach the hot 100 next week because of the video release. also glad five finger death punch made it to the bubbling under 100 again.

I think "Loser Like Me" was a "radio single"; not sure about "We Are the World 25." The others, I don't think so. "Loser Like Me" was promoted at CHR. I'm not sure about We are the World 25, either, but the others definitely weren't. Worth bringing into this conversation is the case of "A Little Bit Longer," a Jonas Brothers countdown single that debuted at #11 and immediately fell off the chart, never to be seen again- a record to this day.

^Yes- there have been entries outside the top 10 that debuted and vanished. "You Belong With Me" initially debuted at 12, and dropped immediately off- but, of course, returned at a later date. "Mean" did the same- coming in at 11, vanishing the next week and returning when it was an official single.
The timing of GMAYL's release to radio was perfect, as it was tied in to the Super Bowl halftime show. Once all that buzz and hype passed, the track had nowhere to go but down. At this point, no matter the quality or reaction, she's not likely to have a long-lasting radio hit- and anyone who thinks otherwise... that's some wishful thinking there. :)

^A better song would've done better. I know you say "quality has nothing to do with it" but when even large numbers of Madonna fans don't like the song much, it's asking quite a bit to think anyone else will.
