Why are they releasing singles on Thursdays now? How would this benefit FEM or Madonna with only three days of sales? Maybe they don't want it to peak in its first week on the chart? I have no idea.

It's released on Monday according to all sources I've seen so Billboard have made a mistake there I suppose.
I'm very disappointed by the song. I know what's she's trying and understand that but c'mon, these days there are several pop singers who have better party songs than this.

^It's one of those cases where radio was late in the game, and could no longer ignore the huge sales the track is seeing.

Still doing a fairly good job of ignoring Gotye, though.

Goyte's track hasn't been as big as the fun. track, though; it's selling at roughly half the popularity of "We Are Young." Plus, the airplay's been higher than that of WAY for some time. That looks like it will change over the coming days, though.

Still doing a fairly good job of ignoring Gotye, though. Gotye doesn't have near the digital success We Are Young has had though. And he still got a +.5 update today; so it's not like he's ignored completely.

It is getting played, and it is getting some updates. But given that it's selling between Adele and Kelly at the moment on iTunes, and has been in the top 10 on and off for several weeks now, the +.5 still indicates a reluctance to play what is obviously a record that connects with people.

I'm sure the Gotye track WILL blow up in a major way eventually. It has happened pretty much everywhere else, no reason to think the US will miss this boat. I honestly think it's going to get to #1 on the Hot 100.

It's refreshing to see other artists get some shine. Adele & Katy stingy asses been hogging up most of the light. Lol

Gotye is top 20 on HAC and still growing nicely. He is also top 50 on Pop as of today. Don't worry, he is coming!

People have been complaining that the airplay for "We Are Young" is lagging. I have a feeling you're all gonna wish it was lagging come May-June. I don't get it. The songs that are coming out of nowhere right now seem so BORING to me. This one and Gotye, I just don't get the hype, at all.

When a song like Princess of China isn struggling, that's when you know radio stations are fucked up with their playlists...

I half-agree with you. fun. is one of my absolute favorite bands, and I adore "We are Young" but Gotye is so overrated that I have to wonder whether people are just saying they like it to look cool. The lyrics are stunningly weak, relatable though they may be.

I guess Gotye should've made yet another song about partying all night.

Ouch @ LMFAO I thought they'd be doing a lot better, than they are, and good for Drake, having two songs so high in airplay.

I feel the opposite about Gotye/fun -- Gotye totally grabs me but fun doesn't.
I don't know how anyone could call Gotye's lyrics weak though -- when Kimbra comes in it changes the context of everything he just said. It's a really interesting look at how 2 sides of a failed relationship can see things so differently.

I thought it was more of Gotye going on about his old relationship, and then Kimbra is singing from the perspective of the current relationship between them and how he is still going on about his ex instead of devoting attention to her, and then he goes back to the old relationship again.

If I dislike an indie track, I'm not afraid to say it, despite looking "uncool" eventhough indie is "in" right now. I don't base my music tastes on whether or not people like it or how praised it is.

I don't remember the exact peak, but I think it got around 120-130 million AI, and had crazy longevity on sales and airplay. It's too early to tell fpr certain wether Turn Me On could challenge it, but it seems unlikely.

Even the hottest, of-the-moment radio acts (LMFAO) don't always hit a radio home run.

Gotye should pick up after it is sung on Glee, that's what initially happened to WAY.
