All "Rumour Has It" needs is an adds date. I think the label are being quite clever about it really. The longer they wait, the closer to spring/summer we get. In addition to this, when they give "Rumour Has It" an adds date, "Set Fire To The Rain" will most likely take a nose-dive. So why not let "Set Fire To The Rain" hold onto the top a litte more as it is helping the album sell really well. Not to mention its chart run and sales will most likely benefit from a delayed adds date for "Rumour Has It".

Maybe they just want to wait until SFTTR starts dropping a bit more. Each single has sustained the album's success for so long, and the album is still selling so well, that they might as well milk each single for all its worth and not kill them prematurely. SFTTR's airplay is still insanely high, so I think it'll probably be okay if they wait a few weeks for an adds date. It's not like this era is losing any steam.

I find it interesting that except for Stronger, Kelly's Pop Airplay #1's are different from her Hot 100 #1's.

Miss Independent, Since U Been Gone, Because of You, kind of defined her as an artist, while A Moment Like This and My Life Would Suck Without You were a result of high first week sales.

Just another reminder that Hot 100 peak position does not totally represent pop culture significance.

I don't think anyone is saying it's the most important chart. I don't get why people are so critical of this one chart. It is what it is (and I hate that saying) but it measures what it's meant to do. It's important for some people and artists, not a big deal for others.

It fell quickly on iTunes. I think its sales will fall this week. With no airplay, that means no Hot 100 entry.

"Give it 2 Me" only charted due to album week release (and it was, if I recall, largely based on people buying the remix that was not on the regular album). When it was actually promoted as a single, it did not re-enter. Considering how notably worse GMAYL did than 4 Minutes, I don't see why GGW is expected to do any better than GI2M.

Sorry. I misinterpreted the meaning. I've been reading a lot of comments regarding that chart this week that seem to take it to be more than it intends to be.

Let's be happy that Madonna actually got a Top 10 "hit" on the Hot 100, even if it only had good airplay for a week and dropped off iTunes everywhere else. Most other acts that emerged in the 80s that still release pop music ONLY chart on the Club/Dance chart.

It's international performance is what worries me most....Madonna singles are supposed to be huge in Europe but GMAYL only was big its first week, it only spent one week in the Top 10 in the mediatraffic world chart.

There's a chance "Girl Gone Wild" may scrape the bottom of the Hot 100 this week, based on how it performed for half the week or so. But if it doesn't there's always sales during album-release week (it is the first track on the album, and we know those sometimes get downloads sales).

I don't see GGW performing much better, if at all, than GI2M. Unless the video release and album hype boost it up.

I'm pleased with GMAYL's fleeting success- unlike some others, I never expected a long-lasting hit nor that it would be a No. 1 contender. And I thought it may have missed the top 10 altogether. The second-week airplay numbers (20m) is probably in line with what a lead Madonna single can expect these days.

Outside the UK, "GMAYL" has performed well in Europe, but not huge. About as big as "Celebration" was, that's for sure.

I don't see another top 10 off MDNA. What's scary as that it took so much to barely get there for only one week this time. I shudder to think what the next era's singles will do. Ageism is getting tougher to get around in music.

While it is true that Madonna isn't going to have any easier of a time scoring airplay hits as she grows older, I personally think "4 Minutes" and "Hung Up" are MUCH stronger singles so I'm not surprised why this one underperformed.

^With Madonna, "performing better" in terms of radio doesn't really mean that much anymore. A stronger single likely would not have gone as high as No. 28 on Hot 100 Airplay, even with a few days of an airplay promo.
Rather than say"'stronger single," a track that connected more with the general audience would be better- cause we know plenty of tracks that we individually think are not all that do well on the charts.

"Hung Up" is a prime example of a well-received, strong-selling single that couldn't even crack top 40 on Hot 100 Airplay. It endured on that chart for 11 weeks, but never took off there. Was radio not listening to the audience? Who knows.

Life in Tech- "4 Minutes" was a stronger single in terms of fitting in with radio trends, having hotter collaborators (one which was essentially on half of the track) and not being Madonna-centric. I still prefer GMAYL over 4M- and I will have that on repeat, br. ;) As well as age always being a factor (making it more difficult as she advances in years).

d.t.m, what else besides the Super Bowl performance did it take for GMAYL to get to top 10? :) The airplay promo occurred during the first few days of its first chart week, and then the second week on the chart had none of that.
