I can go public with this as ALL ACCESS has reported it.
Straight from the story,
CUMULUS/ATLANTA OM ROB ROBERTS told HO in an email that "the Top 40 station's corporate boss CUMULUS cut ties with BUSH's show system wide."
CUMULUS SVP/Programming JAN JEFFRIES confirmed the change to ALL ACCESS, saying "The BILLY BUSH SHOW is no longer affiliated with CUMULUS. We enjoyed our association with the show as we programmed the music and confirmed artist appearances with BILLY. Just as this show was a CUMULUS initiative, we have other exciting plans to be rolled out soon."
Basically, his contract was up for renewal on February 29 and Jan said no more.
Maybe, I'll post his last his last Weekend Countdown with Billy Bush in later post (February 25, 2012). Let's just say he went out with a record number production errors never heard before in a national countdown show. This show didn't make even to a five-year mark with Cumulus backing.
The problem is/was his countdown show almost only on Cumulus stations.
Here's the spin from the All Access story,
DIAL GLOBAL Pres./Programming KIRK STIRLAND told ALL ACCESS, "BILLY BUSH is a terrific host that everyone knows, the show is filled with superstar guests, and we've got a great line-up of stations with solid ratings. Our programmers are at work now, and we'll soon have some enhancements that will make THE BILLY BUSH SHOW an even better nighttime alternative for current and future affiliates."
As I like to say, good luck with that. Hopefully, Billy will land back on his feet. However, he needs a new webmaster and the ability to make a show not sound so scripted. His hotline number has been filled for a couple of days. However, it may open up at any time or go dead. If you feel inclined, try him at 1-877-324-5592.
