Does anyone knows who holds the record of biggest drop from #1? I think Beiber could break that record in 2 weeks.

Pop/R&B acts collaborating with rappers goes back to the 80s and early 90s, too- Chaka Khan, Jody Watley, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Madonna, etc. all had tracks/"remixes" featuring rappers before the mid-90s.
No stopping fun. in the airplay department.

Is Bieber getting next week's #1 a foregone conclusion?

Is Bieber getting next week's #1 a foregone conclusion? Depends on when/how far he crashes.

Does anyone knows who holds the record of biggest drop from #1? I think Beiber could break that record in 2 weeks. I think there have been songs that have fallen 1-15. These bigger drops mostly happened in the 70s I think, when chart turnover was really high/fast.

Yeah, those drops happened in 1974 when Radio Playlists stopped reporting a record once it hit #1 at their station (unless it was colossal).

Is Bieber getting next week's #1 a foregone conclusion? Depends on when/how far he crashes. And he will crash. Bieber is the very definition of front loaded.

Depends on when/how far he crashes. And he will crash. Bieber is the very definition of front loaded. That's true about his singles, but his albums are def consistent.

He's looking to do about 95k during his first 12 hours. Next twelve should get him around 120k. So 215k from day 1; his front-loadedness should drop on day 2; he'll likely be back on par with fun's sales by the evening. 80k for his first 12 hours there and 40k for his next 12 hours. So 120k from day 2; bringing him to 335k for the first two days. He should lose #1 by then, continue to wane throughout the week and probably get around 100k between the remaining 5 days. So 435k for my final estimate. fun. should get around 320k for the week due to the temporary loss of #1 exposure; and airplay will be around 125mil AI BDS by the time its time for that Hot 100. Plus around 10 chart points from streaming will place them around 455 chart points for Bieber to beat. Bieber should have good steaming and he'll already be past the 8th day effect by the time it matters for the week he's competing with fun. on the Hot 100. Probably 12 streaming points and 30mil AI by then. Giving him 477 chart points. I felt like doing the full breakdown.

^No. If it kept We Are Young at 0.4 all week, then maybe, but that won't happen.

Biggest one week sales, ever.
Feb 28, 2009 1. 636.303 RIGHT ROUND - Flo Rida ft. Ke$ha
If Bieber kept outselling fun 2:1 for the rest week, he would sell 600k (cuz fun is selling 300k)

I wonder who will be the 1st artist to get a milli downloads in a week. Well, assuming that sales increase by 4% each year, a song the size of Born This Way would sell a million downloads in its first week in about 20 years.

20 years? A song the size of Born This Way could debut with a million in 5 years, if released on a Monday. BTW got like 950 in 10 days.

The biggest one week sales of all time would have to be the over 2 million CD singles sold of Elton John's Princess Diana tribute single in 1997.

That's what I meant And Elton was over 3 million. I don't think any other song has sold over a million copies though. I seem to remmeber reading that the previous record before Elton was when I Wil Always Love You sold 600k+ during Christmas week of 1992. But there's no way of knowing anything before 1991..

You're right, ry4n, Elton sold 3.4 million copies of Candle in one week.
I'm almost sure based on delivery methods that nothing ever sold more in 7 days before that.

'We Are the World' is certified 4 x platinum so I'm pretty sure it too sold more than 600k in one week. Haven't found official info though.
However, it did became the "fastest selling pop single in history"
