Looks like I've stumped everyone, so I'll give you the answer:
Both songs mention the title of the song only in the bridge.
That's why "Oh Father" by Madonna almost fits - while it's true that she sings "Oh Father" in the bridge, she also sings it at the end of the second verse ("Oh Father I have sinned"). But the other two songs - the title is found nowhere else in the lyrics except the bridges.
I'll let someone else ask the next question

Might be a little easy, but I'll ask it anyway. What do these three songs have in common?
Devo - Whip It Bananarama - Venus Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like a Woman!

Venus and Man! were both used in commercials for female products. Don't know if Whip It was. But maybe?

Eh.... not exactly, but I'll take it. All three have been used in commercials. "Venus" in Gillette commercials, "Whip It" in Swiffer Wet Jet commericals, and "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" was used for Chevy.

Bringing this topic back from the grave after nearly five years... What do the following three songs have in common? Do You Know What I Mean - Lee Michaels The Look Of Love - ABC Love Overboard - Gladys Knight & The Pips Is it that the singer refers to him/herself by first name in the lyrics? Here's one... What do Dionne Warwick and Linda Ronstadt have in common? It has to do with their appearances on the CHR charts. Hint: Aretha Franklin came dangerously close to also fitting this category.

Yes, your guess was correct.
As for your question - I've looked at their (R&R) chart history and the only connection I could find is that each of them had three duets (and technically, one of Aretha's songs wasn't a duet, since it was with a group. Then again, that would also apply to Dionne Warwick (her first Top 40 hit was with the Spinners).
In other words - I'm stumped. Another clue?

That's almost the answer I'm going for, but you're missing some key information. For what it's worth, for purposes of this question I'm considering "That's What Friends Are For" to be a duet.

Their last three hits were all duets. Aretha just barely missed in 1989, when her duet with Whitney Houston "It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be" peaked at #41 (after looking like it would for sure hit the Top 40, moving 49-41).

Here's another one. What do the following bands have in common, besides all of them being British?
Duran Duran Pink Floyd Queen Supertramp The Who

Well this is weird. I came here to resurrect this thread to find it was exactly one year ago that I last posted here. (Nobody ever guessed that one, by the way.)
So here's another. What do the following songs have in common?
Bruce Springsteen -- Dancing In The Dark Vitamin C -- Smile All-American Rejects -- Gives You Hell

The all open with lyrics about waking up in the evening? Sorry...I've been forgetting to check on this... This answer is correct. Your other one is not. For that one, think specifically about the groups and not their songs/albums.

I like questions of this nature. Anyhow, the common element between the above bands has to do with their members.

Was it that at least one of the members of the original line-up are now deceased?

While we're waiting for Michael1973 to chime in, here's one I came up with the other day. What do the following Stevie Wonder songs have in common? I Just Called To Say I Love You Overjoyed For Your Love I think it goes without saying that I'm looking for something other than the fact that they're all by the same artist...

Was it that at least one of the members of the original line-up are now deceased? Sorry, I'm just now seeing this. That's not correct. Here's a hint: "I Want To Be Your Man." Meanwhile, I don't really have a guess for your question, as I'm not familiar with the third song listed.

They have members who use electronic voice alternators? You're overthinking it. Make a list of the members of each band.

LOL, I didn't even need that clue, as it just came to me at work earlier today (this was before I saw the clue - I was thinking about the last one you posted).
All five bands have (or had) someone named Roger.
Duran Duran - Roger Taylor Pink Floyd - Roger Waters Queen - a different Roger Taylor than Duran Duran Supertramp - Roger Hodgson The Who - Roger Daltrey

To refresh your memory...

I Just Called To Say I Love You Overjoyed For Your Love
It has to do with music arrangement.

As I mentioned TWICE, the music arrangement is the KEY. That ought to CHANGE your way of thinking :)

OK, time's up. All three songs change key twice in the song. Many songs have one key change, but not so many have two - especially in such close proximity to each other. Both key changes in each song occur during the last chorus, near the end of the song.
