^Between you, that parker poster and one or two others... LOL
The album will not end up as low as No. 36. Surely you know how the HITS chart works?

As posted before you edited the first post, the album will not end up as low as No. 36. For someone who's obviously not a fan of Her Madgesty, you're very invested in how this album performs, aren't you?

Anyways, sucks that Lionel is gonna pass Adele, but it's amazing to see someone so old get so much success. Lionel Richie defeating ageism :'(

Wow how incredible for Lionel. Very happy to see him having such a great era. Great music, the right type of promo, and genuine interest/connection. Nice to see.

Er, please do point me to anytime I would gloat over the performance of any act's album underperforming. I thought so. :)
I think we know by now that the album charts are not affected by ageism like the singles chart. Especially when an act does a lot of promo and appeals to an audience like country fans.

If Gotye can manage to build momentum, maybe he can score a #1 album too, but I doubt it.

Proof that traditional promotion works.

^It does in some cases, not as much in others (as we've seen). Richie's album is doing well for all of the reasons stated. Watch- Air Supply will be next. Its live album continues to linger on the catalog 200 chart (scanning 400K+ to date).

If Gotye can manage to build momentum, maybe he can score a #1 album too, but I doubt it. Adele has a good chance of being #1 but if Lionel continues promoting it will be very close. The next 2 weeks might be adeles last chance of being #1 her sales r going to continue to fall regardless how her single does on radio

Unrelated to the album chart, but related to HITS: Is this page not regularly updated, or what? I was hoping I'd be able to see that list every week, but they haven't updated it since the beginning of the month.

Adele is going to finally start dropping down. She'll likely get 75k-80k next week.

Lionel Richie Rides CBS Special to Likely No. 1 on Billboard 200 April 16, 2012 | By Keith Caulfield ( keith_caulfield), Los Angeles Lionel Richie might be "dancing on the ceiling" right now, as his "Tuskegee" album is on track to hit No. 1 this week on the Billboard 200 chart. It would mark his third chart-topping album -- and his first since 1986's "Dancing on the Ceiling" spent two weeks at No. 1. We'll have exact Nielsen SoundScan figures and official chart positions on Wednesday morning, April 18. While last Friday it seemed Adele's "21" set was on course for a 24th nonconsecutive frame at the top, Richie's "Tuskegee" pulled in big sales over the weekend. Industry sources say the album sold about 125,000 copies through the week ending Sunday, April 15 -- well ahead of the perhaps 90,000 that Adele's "21" sold. Richie's weekend sales were driven by his two-hour Friday night CBS concert special "ACM Presents: Lionel Richie & Friends in Concert." The all-star show featured Richie singing with Tim McGraw, Kenny Rogers, Martina McBride and more, all of whom appear on the collaborative album. The broadcast earned 7.7 million viewers according to Nielsen and was the most-watched show on Friday evening. Richie's "Tuskegee" debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 two weeks ago with 199,000 -- his best sales week since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. He was lodged behind the also-debuting "MDNA" by Madonna, which topped the list that week with 359,000. Last week, "Tuskegee" fell from No. 2 to No. 4 with 95,000 (down 52%).

He and Madonna can share royalties of being artists from the 80's who have landed #1 albums in 2012! Don't forget Bruce Springsteen! As a Prince fan I'm also rooting for him to be #1 but it would be especially cool if he could do it this year with those other three. Throw Janet in there too!

LMAO @ Madonna really flopping hard. That's what you get for cheating.
Good for Lionel for being #1, he deserves it after being cheated of the top spot!

Actually it seems easier to score a hit album with an established fanbase --- basically, the older the better for albums (see Leonard Cohen, Tony Bennett)

Again all the madonna stans ganging up on anyone who criticizes her. I am sure mdna is never going to catch up with prince musicology and its 2.2mil in "sales". which used a similar gimmick. Prince is now apparently the gold standard for bundling.
Even if mdna giveaways r included its not like its still going to end up selling much. It gets uglier with time and anything slightly higher then gold is the best outcome

^Not matter of ganging up, but enough already. Billboard has stated that the album likely would have been No. 1 that week without the ticket promo- yet some still go on and on about it. Drop it- move on. Peace out.

It seems to be people, who aren't fans, fanning the flames. I'm in a completely neutral spot with this, as I am certainly not a "stan" and haven't heard anything I like off MDNA. Also, I have never been a fan of Lionel. What happened...happened. Spin it how you like. Or better yet, get over it, everyone. It doesn't affect you and it appears Lionel is coming out on top this week and is certainly going to sell more than Madonna with these respective releases. Everyone wins.
