DAVID GUETTA - Titanium f/Sia: 17.485 (+ 0.576) Surprisingly small gains for this Give it time. I'd like to see if America is willing to embrace a David Guetta single without an urban or rhythmic artist attached to the track.

Refuses to die? No, that would be We Found Love a couple months ago. We Are Young has barely peaked. It hasn't come close to free-falling, and hasn't even been at the top for very long.

I'd like to see if America is willing to embrace a David Guetta single without an urban or rhythmic artist attached to the track. I think you mean without a relevant artist... Sia wouldn't get a hit on her own here, which is far more likely the reason for its slow rise than the fact that she's not an urban or rhythmic artist.

It will be: 1. Somebody That I Used to Know 2. We Are Young 3. We Found Love And you can quote me on this. Based on the usual inverse point system that BB uses, WFL is leading with much points. Unless it goes recurrent earlier and STIUTK/WAY stays on the top 10 for 2 months after that(recurrent).

?
I'm pretty sure Billboard hasn't used an inverse point system since the Soundscan era began. Or, at least in a while.

Inverse point systems with weights applied to different time periods are used for charts that cover a period longer than one year.
Year end charts add up the points in a year accumulated from sales, airplay & streming

The biggest thing hurting WFL is that its first 8 weeks counted for 2011, which included a few weeks at #1.
I think if its full chart run were in 2012 it would be more formidable. It will be in the top ten most likely for the year.

True. Your song of the year is likely one of the songs that are at the top now, unless there is a big sales juggernaut still to come

True. Your song of the year is likely one of the songs that are at the top now, unless there is a big sales juggernaut still to come Yeah, it will most definitely be a battle between "We Are Young" and "Somebody That I Used to Know" for #1. There might be another "Party Rock Anthem"-esque juggernaut to come, and with the artists who are lined up for that same time period (Ke$ha and No Doubt), we could see a third song poised to battle for #1 of the year. But for right now it's just those two. "We Found Love" definitely won't be #1, but it does have a very good shot at top five, even #3.

Either way, the song that most represent her beginning of it all it's Man Down, but it wasn't succesful enough.

What fucking kind of fuckery is this? Is there some kind of radio boycott? This is #3 on iTunes and closing in on the top spot, it has $MA$HED in every other English-speaking country and should be a surefire #1 in America. GET ON IT RADIO.

Songs like this rarely go much higher than this. This is in the same vein as Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, etc., who don't typically dominate airplay. The audience is just not broad enough. Seems like a lot of people forget that dominating airplay is really more about being cross-genre than anything else. A pure pop tune can get you into the 60s/70s in audience but you're gonna have to appeal to other genres to make it higher.

In terms of chart success I'd say WFL is the biggest song of Rihanna's career so far, but in terms of overall impact 'Umbrella' comes first. I think it will always be her signature song :) Ok, but for me now, it's like Umbrella was the push-up song and WFL it's the new signature. Definitely. I feel people feel some sort of attachment to Umbrella and while that is alright, they're not exactly considering how widespread and enormous We Found Love has been. In logical methods of measuring impact, We Found Love should be winning on all fronts when it comes to airplay domination, digital downloads, music video reception and cultural relevance (i.e. Chris Brown domestic violence associations), and generally widespread live performances. This song has been performed literally everywhere from the Grammys (twice, at the live show and the nominations concert), the BRIT awards, American Idol, XFactor, the AMAs, various talk shows, and whatnot. The only real upper hand Umbrella has right now is that it has had years of time to solidify its impact. If we wait another year or so I'm sure we can make a more accurate judgement especially when awards season (VMAs *cough*) rolls around.

"Signature hit" and "biggest hit" are not always the same.
Madonna is a good example. Her biggest hit by chart standards is "Take A Bow." But for a lot of people her signature hit is "Material Girl" -- which didn't even hit #1. (Of course, Madonna has a lot of "signature hits" to choose from.)
I think "Umbrella" is not gonna go away, it also was much more "cover"-able, which I think is also what contributes to a song going down in history. We Found Love is definitely an excellent song but it is much more dependent upon its production.
This is all a very subjective conversation though. People are allowed to have more than one song they're known for!

Actually, "Like a Virgin" is No. 1 on the list of Madonna's toop-performing singles (per Billboard). "Take a Bow" spent the longest at No. 1, but that doesn't make it her biggest hit (though "biggest hit" could be detgermined from different criteria, depending on what one looks at).
For yearly/decade charts since 1992 or so, Billboard adds a track's total points for each week on the Hot 100 chart (or whatever chart it may be). Once a track leaves the Hot 100, it stops accumulating points for the year-end chart. As mentioned, for all-time charts since 2008, pre-BDS-/SoundScan-era tracks are weighted to compensate for the shorter chart runs that tracks had prior to late 1991.

^You're splitting hairs. :)
My point was merely that you can have something be a big hit on paper and have it not be as memorable as a song that was a lesser hit on paper. "Take a Bow" would not be at the top of most people's lists of Madonna's biggest signature hits despite its enormous success, so when trying to say something is an artist's "signature hit," you can't just look at chart stats.

The song is also becoming a monster in Latin America so Latin could play it as well. "I Wanna Go" is pure pop and that got to over 100 million before the A.I. adjustement which would mean around 120-130m now.

"Like a Virgin" is clearly Madonna's signature and, by far, most famous song.
