Unsure if this was posted but it was news to me...Colleen Fitzpatrick, a.k.a. Pop Star Vitamin C, Named VP of Music at NickelodeonNickelodeon today named Colleen Fitzpatrick -- a.k.a. the singer formerly known as Vitamin C, behind hits like 2000's "Graduation" and 1999's "Smile" -- its new vice president of music, tasking her with overseeing all music recording, production and performance for Nickelodeon and its channels, which include Nick Jr., Nicktoons and TeenNick. She will report to SVP, music and talent Doug Cohn. More specifically, Fitzpatrick's new position will put her in charge of day-to-day A&R and on-site management for recording sessions and video shoots, as well as working with Nick's marketing and press divisions to coordinate their music initiatives. "Colleen brings a vast wealth of knowledge of the music industry to this newly created role," said Cohn in a statement. "Her work with emerging and established talent is a testament to what a tremendous asset she will be to Nick as we continue to expand our foothold in the music space." Fitzpatrick's accomplishments in the music industry are lengthy; she had previously created the licensing and publishing division of Collective Songs (subsidiary of The Collective), working with artists such as Linkin Park and Enrique Iglesias, and founded and co-owns VCR Productions. In addition to her multi-platinum success as Vitamin C, she also served as the lead singer of alt-rock band Eve's Plum, which released two albums on 550/Epic during the 1990s.

I was actually wondering what had ever happened to her just yesterday, lol. I found my copy of "More" and gave it a spin. Good album.
Good to see she is still around.

Werk! Happy to see her succeeding in the industry even if she's no longer an artist.

Interesting choice for an interesting role. Her performance on The Amanda Show was actually pretty memorable.

I read something about this happening a while back. I wasn't sure if it was important enough to post here. I was a fan of "Smile" and "The Itch". I'm still sad and bitter that "The Itch" flopped.

I always thought she was one of the more unique contributors to the teen-pop craze in the early 00s. More was a great album for its time, too; I'm still mad it flopped.

I don't know why anyone is laughing. If I remember correctly she has actually been really active on the other side of the music industry by developing new groups, doing stuff for Disney/Nick, and co-writing or being involved on the business end of things. Goes to prove that not all artists die and shrivel up after they stop getting pop hits. I agree with Shooter too. She actually had some creative, genuine pop music. Sadly, most of it didn't catch on. She is extremely talented though and she is still having some influence somewhere in the industry.

I just think it's funny that people equate having chart success with knowing the industry and being experienced. I guarantee that there are some pop stars that have had hit after hit and #1s that know less about how the industry works than some of us do.

I'd much rather her be a mogul at this point in the industry than come out a decade later trying to chase pop success again (she is close to 40 after all). I doubt we'll hear another Vitamin C album but that's fine; Graduation alone has solidified her place in the pop music canon.

I think the article seems to hesitate to point out that she'd actually worked in other industry roles, while they don't hesitate to point out her singing career. Also, responses like this one... I just think it's funny that people equate having chart success with knowing the industry and being experienced. ...seem to automatically lump her in with the "pop stars who know little about the industry", and then just forget about anything else.

My comment was in response to the surprised replies earlier in the thread because of the line in the article "Colleen brings a vast wealth of knowledge of the music industry to this newly created role," said Cohn in a statement. which I assumed was in response to the fact she'd only had a few hits in a short timespan. Basically, even if someone is a one-hit-wonder doesn't mean that because they weren't able to achieve more hits that they can't possibly know the industry at all because, as you said, being a one-hit-wonder doesn't mean they didn't dabble or jump into other areas of the industry before or after.

This is pretty common in the industry. Some others who have shifted from artist to industry exec: Tommy Page, Jimmy Harnen, Paula Cole. Kara DioGuardi, Diane Warren and Ne-Yo are all label execs while also pursuing a ton of other things on the side.
Definitely wish Colleen the best!

She's always been a go-getter and very creative. Plus, her "Graduation Song" is relevant each year and is played constantly on the radio this time of the year. ;)

Wow, good for her. I wondered what happened to her. I still hum 'Smile' from time to time even though I haven't heard it in years.
