I'm not liking how some people are just trying to group criticisms of the album into people only listening to the album for singles. Are you actually reading the posts where people are criticizing? That's not even the biggest issue that's been brought up. A lot of people (including those who aren't feeling the album overall) are praising Swine and that is the furthest thing from a potential single, doesn't stop it from being a great track for what it is. The title track is such a bop, every time I listen to it I'm like...

This is the first Gaga album I will buy. Shocking.I can't compare ARTPOP with her other albums, because I was never interested in Gaga. But with Applause and DWUW she convinced me to take time and listen the album. It's not an album full of hits but I like the variety and even though I will skip some songs (MJH, Fashion, Donatella, JD), overall it's an entertaining album and I think this is what she wanted and her fans will be pleased. Unlike many fans of her, I really like Dope.

One thing I will say about this album is that sometimes Gaga is too bent on tweaking her songs to death. Dope (I Wanna Be With You) and Manicure were a million times better at the iTunes Festival, and now Dope is nearly un-listenable on the album and Manicure got less catchy and fun, imo. I'm also not entirely convinced I like Sexxx Dreams on the album better than the iTunes Festival version either. Sometimes she just needs to leave things alone. That said though, Swine on the album does slay the hell out of the live version.

Donatella is another flop - no one cares, Gaga. Really, no one? I could say the same about your review, but that would be ridiculous. It's called hyperbole. Look it up.

Swine needs to be a single. End of story. I don't even care if it flops on CHR. The world needs to hear this club smash masterpiece.

I do think she needs editing a bit and the production is very loud (and sometimes samey) on a first listen, but I'm really enjoying the album. Her vocals are brilliant and a lot of it's just fun.

I really dislike 'Dope', even more so than 'Jewels 'n Drugs' (which has grown on me slightly). Her voice bugs, and the song itself is boring.

A few ratings from me... My favourites are: Sexxx Dreams, Manicure, Gypsy... Do What U Want, Venus... it does sound like she's just having fun most of the time, this album doesn't feel as 'weighty' as Born This Way which I appreciate. Not her best, not her worst. I like it.
--
Aura - I love the second verse, it's insane. The rest... is fine - 5/10
Venus - Not really a single, but a good song nonetheless. The chorus is great, and I've come round to the verses - 7/10
G.U.Y - I think this will grow on me. Great intro, and the pre-chorus is the best thing about the song imo. Verses/chorus are a bit loud, hard to make out a melody - 6/10
Sexxx Dreams - A favourite of mine. Really great production, and interesting vocals. Pretty quotable too. Would like to see this as a single - 8/10
Jewels n' Drugs - So, so random. It's alright out of context, but what is it doing here? - 4/10
Manicure - Another favourite. Awesome vocals, really catchy and fun. Could be a cool single - 8/10
Do What U Want - Really smooth, so glad it's a single. R Kelly's verse/chorus is great - 8/10
Artpop - One of the strongest. Not quite as 'loud' as the others - should be a single - 7/10
Swine - Bit mental, kinda reminds me of BTW (album) - glad it's here - 7/10
Donatella - I didn't like this at first and do think it's filler, but fun enough - 6/10
Fashion! - Harmless. No strong feeling either way! - 4/10
Mary Jane Holland - Closer to a group of 3 fillers if you ask me... Some cool moments, but overall pointless - 3/10
Dope - I actually really like this, it was unexpected. Not v approachable (especially vocal-wise), but I like it more than her slower tracks - 6/10
Gyspy - Could be a great single. Not as similar to TEOG as some are saying (I get MTN vibes if anything), but it's along the same lines. A lot of fun - 8/10
Applause - The easy single, the chorus is still brilliant - 8/10

'G.U.Y.' has already sneaked its way into my Top 5 Gaga songs, alongside 'Paparazzi', 'Bad Romance', 'Heavy Metal Lover', and 'Marry the Night'.

The "You're so disgusting!!" bits in 'Swine' remind me so much of Ke$ha's 'Disgusting'.

After having listened to this one, I'm not 100% impressed. I like The Fame and BTW better but I'm confident that ARTPOP will grow on me the more I listen to it. As I've noticed with other albums this year, the singles released so far from this ("Applause", "Do What U Want") stand out, at least sonically, from the majority of the tracks on the album, not that that is a bad thing, and I find this album to be one of her most hard-hitting albums in terms of production; songs like "G.U.Y", "Sex Dreams" or "Swine" have excellent productions.
As for my favorite tracks on the album, I seem to be in the majority but "Dope" is actually one of my absolute favorites. I also like "G.U.Y", "Sex Dreams", and "Gypsy".

If Gypsy was arranged and produced differently it would be an almost perfect pop song. As it is, it's a bit of a mess and it's a bit sad because all the elements of a great song are there but just executed very poorly. It's like it's fighting to decide which bit is the chorus and the production doesn't know what type of song it's trying to be.

Totally disagree about gypsy. It's really a perfect pop song to me - I love the change in tone of the lyrics after the bridge. If that's released third it's going to be THE hit of the album.

I like this album, but the same thing that helps it also hinders it: the production. I love the sound of it, but a lot of these songs are a bit overproduced. If she took a few elements away, they would be even better. The arrangements of some of the songs are a bit messy. When I listened to this and a friend asked me to describe it to her in one sentence, I described it as: Gaga portrays a schizo Lana Del Rey.

After the 1st listen, all songs sound the same to me And only stand out song is Do What U Want
I have The Fame and Born This Way albums and I love them I have Born This Way Remix album as well... so, I guess Artpop sounds like that, - two remixes

Not a quality album, it feels very undercooked. Every track has something lacking and there are no standout AMAZING songs that anchor the album. Every pop album should have a couple of inedible smashes whereas this feels like the big songs are all 3rd and 4th singles. Disappointing, she truly lost the plot after Fame Monster.

I think there are few after Gypsy and G.U.Y (which will hopefully be the 3rd and 4th). MANiCURE, ARTPOP, and Sexxx Dreams should be the singles after them. But I would prefer an album that is cohesive and strong. The entire album shouldn't be too mainstream, it should be more of what the artist wanted to do. And there's no denying that this album is Gaga but it also definitely has more mainstream appeal than BTW has but it is not too mainstream.

Am I the only one that likes ARTPOP much more than Born This Way? I never really could get into BTW, with the exception of Judas, Scheibe, and Marry The Night. This album is more upbeat, more pop-oriented and gives me a little taste of each sound she developed across her previous albums. It may not be on par with The Fame Monster but I think it's damn good album.

I wonder if Venus will be third single of if they'll burn it off at the end of the era? ???

I also think that this is a damn good album, I'm not really disappointed with any track, and there are some that are quite amazing, actually. I have found me a new work out album too. I listened to this while working out today and it was great. :) My favorites thus far (no order):
Venus G.U.Y Sexxx Dreams Manicure Do What U Want Artpop Swine Gypsy Applause
I really like the production on this album.

No one loves Fashion that's my favorite song on the album? Not true, I declared my love for Fashion! It's is so refreshing and chill, it's nice to have a little funky, laidback moment after the frantic production of Donatella (which, along with F! is one of my big favorites from the album). I would love to have her make more songs in this vein in the future.

Don't get the mixed response in this. It's wonderful.
Everything bar Jewles and Dope are utter pop wonder lust.
Absolute highlights: Sex Dreams, Swine, Sexxx Dreams, Artpop, Fashion and Venus (which has really grown on me.)
She is at her best, being quirky and giving us those pop jams. Do I care that it's radio friendly ? Not all of it has to be. This is an utter delight of an album. Time will tell if I has the same replay value as BTW (which took more time to grow on me but I love it for the most part.)
