Why does she always waste promo spots on the crap songs that nobody wants to hear?

I have a feeling this will be the Speachless of this era and get played in the place of real brilliance from this record. Le sigh.

Minor complaint, but I really think "GUY" should've been the opening track. The intro & ambiance of that song just says "Welcome to ARTPOP" to me.

Why does she always waste promo spots on the crap songs that nobody wants to hear? If it makes you feel better, roughly only 225,000 people were watching when Gaga performed. Here's the performance:

Gaga wasn't lying when she said you should listen to the album straight through from start to finish. It's really an experience! I even didn't mind hearing Fashion! or Dope when I was listening all the way through.

^ See, as much as I dislike 'Dope' as a standalone song, I hate it even more in context with the rest of the album. It sticks out so much, and not in a good way.

Haven't heard the album yet but I heard "Dope". What was she thinking? "I Wanna Be With You" >>>>>. Did she really think "I need you more than dope" was an improvement?

Bitch was on Dope when she decided to make those changes and boy she looked high tonight. Still great performance. But wtf is with this melodramatic crap? Since TFM she has been so over the dam top it's annoying and off putting. Just perform, deliver and be fabulous. I love her when she's dramatic, not borderline reportable.

I love when she's melodramatic when it makes sense and she actually sounds good - but this is definitely one of her worst performances vocally or otherwise and this is coming from a huge gaga stan :/

Wow, that performance was pretty theatrical. What exactly is Dope about? I know its about how she felt like she let her fans down canceling the tour but I don't get the dope references….I understood it much more when it was I Wanna Be With You.

I think she's just saying she needs her fans more than a heroin addict needs a fix?

I actually don't mind that connection (like, you are like a drug) but the whole I need you more than dope line just sounds so off.

^That makes a lot of sense, I never thought of it that way. But yeah the way she words it sounds really off, it makes it sound like she's saying she needs her fans more than she needs dope haha.

I love how I am whining about the one song I don't like instead of the 14 I do lol. Ok no more talking about Dope and more discussion over how amazing almost every other song is.

The last chorus in Gypsy is so epic!
"BABY FOR LIIIIIIIIIIIIFE"
At least that's what I think she's saying.

I think I should stay away from this thread until the album officially drops. You guys are tempting me into playing it rn. Lol. I'm pretty sure you would love it. I had a thought about it, but was kind of scared to share it because Yeezus is so amazing...but I posted it on another board and everyone agreed lol so ill share it, but it really reminds me of a top 40 poppy Yeezus with more imperfections.

So far the only track that I've grown not to love is "Donatella," but everything else is holding up really well for me after 5 or 6 listens. Also, I've found the hate for "Jewels n' Drugs" really weird, since that beat and her vocals are the most The Fame she has gotten in awhile.

Dope really is awful, isn't it. The rest of the songs....most of them: Aura, GUY, Sexxx Dreams, Donatella, MJH, Manicure, Artpop...those are good. Swine, Applause, DWYW, Gypsy, Venus....those are great! Dope and Jewels N Drugs remain the worst.
Overall, good album. Still not as good as BTW or TFM, but it's still good.
I am leaning in the majority that like Venus more than DWYW.

I like Jewels and Drugs, but there is a part of me that will always love that type of cheap pop/rap collabo sound. It is my weakness in music.
Spree I really like your avatar :)

I'm not fearful that I may not like the album anymore. After hearing previews of it, I think I will enjoy it for the most part. From what I've been reading as far as everyone's opinion, this could rank inbetween "BORN THIS WAY" & "THE FAME" w/"THE FAME MONSTER" still being her best body of work. BTW, I love the description of the album you used. Got me hella excited now! Lol

Born This Way remains her best. The Fame Monster a very close 2nd. ARTPOP is a little further behind those two. The Fame is a FAR distant 4th.
But it's still impressive. I don't think anything she ever releases will ever beat BTW tho, as that is truly a great album.

I honestly don't have a favorite album from her as of now. They are all essentially different and depending on my mood I may feel more gravitated towards one body of work over another. I'm one of the few who probably finds "The Fame" as a whole to be underrated; some of the albums tracks on that record including "Boys Boys Boys", "Brown Eyes", "Paper Gangsta, "Starstuck" and "Summerboy" are all terrific pop songs imo. I'd probably rank "The Fame Monster" as my least favorite (a few of the album tracks among my least favorite from her) while the other three are slightly better in my book. Born This Way took a while to digest but some of the songs namely "Government Hooker", "Heavy Metal Lover" and "Scheiße" are among her best work. ARTPOP was more instant and has some really fantastic moments including "G.U.Y." which has some of the best production and verses on the album, "Manicure" which I consider the funnest song on the record, the title track as well as Gypsy. I'm actually glad that she changes things up with each record and I was pleasantly surprised with the urban influence on a few songs. I really was dying to hear her try a few R&B influenced songs. As a fan, I am more than pleased.

Only songs I like on the album so far.

I might just replace this with the live iTunes Festival version.
