This must be the first time I hear so many people saying an era is a flop when the first single is a top 5 pop and hot 100 and the second single is top 10 pop and top 15 hot 100. Many people would die for that type of flop

Off topic but I just tried to find the Born This Way music video on Gaga's VEVO YouTube channel and I can't find it?

I think Lady Gaga made a big misstep with Art Pop and it signals the end of a brilliant career. I know that she is still young but she should have never made such a putrid album. I don't know what she was thinking. Billboard has an article about her tour flopping and the album is already a big flop. It only sold 275,000 its first week compared to like a million for her album last time. She is an artist in decline for sure. We'll see if she can reinvent herself for the next album but she is on shaky ground. I think her career is over.

Metacritic assigns a value to critics' reviews based on the reviews themselves; it has nothing to do with how an album performs.
In any event, year-end lists are the better gauge of critical success. Artpop didn't fare all that well on that end, only featuring on Billboard (a top 20 showing) and the Village Voice's Pazz-N-Jop poll (outside the top 50), among worldwide sources' multi-critic lists.
get2nomey- are you for real with your posts declaring the end of acts' careers, or are you just playing around?

get2nomey- are you for real with your posts declaring the end of acts' careers, or are you just playing around? That seems to be a sign of longevity. People often said Madonna & Britney's careers were over all the time, and always over the smallest of things.

Metacritic assigns a value to critics' reviews based on the reviews themselves; it has nothing to do with how an album performs. I don't think anyone really thinks metacritic assigns scores on album sales. It is more that reviews themselves (where the scores are pulled from) are usually influenced (at least in some of the reviews) by feelings that have nothing to do with the music. Either personal feelings about the artist, personal feelings about the genre, or in a more general sense the sheep-like tendency to praise what everyone else is praising or what is heavily hyped or tear down the "easy" target even if you would have praised the music in different circumstances. Reviews themselves, to me, are pretty inaccurate for that reason especially when you try to look at them together. In particular, I think pop reviews tend to be inaccurate. This is getting off from my original point though a bit where I do think that feelings about the cd are being negatively affected due to feelings about her as an artist/person. You could say the same for any pop star out there, of course, but I do think the effect is more dramatic depending on whether an artist currently seems untouchable or (on the flip side) is suffering a massive backlash. I think the Gaga effect right now is pretty dramatic. I have seen it happen before and then, in a few years, feelings soften considerably when the vitriol against the artist fades. I also don't mean that everyone who dislikes the cd dislikes it because of this-obviously everyone is allowed to have their own opinions. I may also just be wrong in this case-it is just an opinion and I don't pretend to be a fortune-teller. Onto more important discussions- LOOKS LIKE WE STILL DON'T HAVE A SINGLE ANNOUNCEMENT EH????

Ya I know hey! She really needs to hurry her ass up because, before you (or she, more importantly) know it, her tour is gonna start and she won't have any time to promote anything or if she's gonna drop another album or whatever, she won't have time to do performances of the singles from the new album.

She is the keynote speaker at SXSW on Friday and is playing a special one-off show at Stubb's in Austin the night before.

I was referring to the general public (and other critics') opinions several months down the line after we know how much it has sold, not the metacritic reviewers themselves.

Bionic and ARTPOP are similar in the sense that they are both CD's that include a mix of absolutely great songs AND some of the worst songs of their careers. Exactly. Prism is the exact same. A handful of great songs and the rest are not good enough, especially when compared to the artist discography history. I. Cannot. Stop. Listening. To. Sexxx Dreams.

I'm sure she'll use it to workshop some choreography/costume ideas for ArtRave. See what works and what doesn't. I would imagine we'll get at least one, if there is going to be new music, but it bothers me we haven't seen all of ArtPop performed yet. Though I guess between iTunes Festival and the first ArtRave we've seen more live than most albums.

I'd say we've already seen more than most since she hasn't been limited to just singles and there hasn't been a tour or anything yet. With the iTunes festival, she did 8 of the songs (well 7, not counting Dope, which she did at an award show later anyway). In addition to those, we've seen Do What U Want on the AMAs and The Voice, and Venus, Gypsy and Fashion on the Muppets special. That means the only songs we haven't heard live have been Donatella (i think?) and Mary Jane Holland. Of course, I could be missing something from some random tv appearance in Japan or something too.
I'm expecting her Artrave and/or artpop tours to contain all of the tracks from the album except Jewels & Drugs, since that one is so reliant on the rappers whereas the others she can do it alone. I'm almost wondering (re: hoping) that since the artrave shows are somewhat high profile that it'd be awesome if she brought in one special guest per each of the six shows.

Would it be smart to perform the same song on the same show within just a couple weeks, though?
