Weren't they going to announce more shows for the Fall? I wonder if that has been put on hold to promote the new album release and then she will do 1-2 more legs next year. I was surprised they already had a lead single chosen, but if you think about it if an album is due at the end of the year we really should be getting a new single soon. Like, within two months if they are aiming for a November release-wow. I am also over-analyzing what they mean by surprise. Part of me feels like that would be a really new lesser known producer like Zedd who, if I am correct, has done more remixing than actual produced songs. Another part of me feels like maybe she worked with a big hit maker/name and somehow it was kept quiet. Hmmmm. In the next five months I will have new music from Gaga, Kesha, No Doubt, Pink, and Christina **excited** I hope most of them don't let me down though I am sure 1-2 will

Yes, she's going to be in Europe in the Fall but until August 14, she's free to do what she wants. Right now, I would say would be the perfect time for her to be doing some preparations for her lead single and its video. I wouldn't be surprised if she had the single out sometime in August or later this month, to be honest. Whatever it is, there probably won't be the immense hype going for her this time.
And yes, a Dr. Luke or Max Martin hit could be a possibility. I'd only be for it if it's not their typical copy and paste work, and something a little more adventurous but at the same time very suitable for radio.

I'm hoping it's not a Dr. Luke or Max Martin producer. Though if it HAS to be one, I'd rather it be Max. I feel he has a style more in line with GaGa whereas Luke would bring her down too far. Either way, I'm willing to bet it's a big name producer to some extent or else it wouldn't be much of a surprise because nobody would get it.

I would prefer Max as well. I feel like he has a bit more variety in his catalog. If she could force Dr. Luke out of his one sound it may be interesting though.

I hope it's a real curveball like Dr. Dre or something.

I want Gaga to work with Guy Sigsworth. They would create such a wonderful ballad.

It could be produced by Lady Gaga herself.

I always felt that Dr. Luke had more variety than Max Martin. All She Wrote, Tell Me What Your Name Is, Where Have You Been, Strange Clouds all sound different from each other. Max Martin's productions have all started to blend together in the last 4 years and even before that in the 90s.

Not familiar with some of the songs you mentioned and not that impressed with the ones I do know. Either way, I guess he might have some tracks deeper in his catalog that are unique and different, but I really judge him by the work he has mostly done with current pop stars like Gaga which has basically been handing the same song to the same 3-4 pop stars over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Though, I guess we should blame consumers since I doubt he would do this if consumers didn't lap it up every time he re-serves them the same song. I am afraid if she records with him it will be Kesha/Katy/Britney/Nicki Part 674. I don't want that for her even if she needs a hit. Max did have really blending songs a decade or more ago, but I feel like his work for the past few years at the very least molds to the artists' strengths rather than the pop star becoming a puppet for the producer. I really doubt Gaga would allow that to happen though. She doesn't want to be a puppet to the point of harming her own popularity. Oh and if she produced this herself there will be no end to my fury

Her new album will lack the "maturity and responsibility" she showed with Born This Way. She's obviously going down the radio friendly route this time around. Watch at 1:43 and on.

Skrillex?
I wonder if she'll use the VMAs as a platform to debut the new single/give the album title/promo/whatever. I won't be surprised if the album will be released the week of Black Friday. It'd be smart to do the week before Black Friday. She'll have a big opening week anyway and BF would soften the 2nd week drop.
I don't mind her doing a fun album w/o the 'maturity and responsibility'. But I hope it still stands out and is not a...sell out. I'd love her to be on top again but I think BTW was a better move than a commercially-focused album would have been. She has such an amazing fan base and I think she should be catering to them. Also...Born This Way, The Edge of Glory and You And I were all hits. Not Bad Romance/Just Dance/Poker Face level but they certainly made their mark.

If she's not going to make the lyrics into something special, then the production and such must be special. Ahead of the crowd, like it was back in TF(M) days. Set the new trend, Gaga.

I wonder what she could open with if she does have a great release spot during the holidays. If she has a solid hit and a less polarizing image during the time I honestly feel like she could hit 650-750K and then if the second week is a pimp spot holiday week she may not do the usual 70% drop. If she can manage to pound out a million plus through the holidays and then manage to have a more successful radio presence this time around I feel like she could approach another 2x platinum cd.

Is there a chance that she could have one of the Top 5 selling albums of the year if that happened?

From the mid-year charts from BB, 5. Various Artists Now 41 714,000
I imagine #5 (probably a different album) will be over 1,000,000 by the end of the year. If Gaga does a release around Black Friday like we discuss, she should easily pass 1,000,000. Enough for top 5? Who knows. Depends how other albums do by the end of the year.

I think if she just sells a million she would probably be closer to top 10 than top 5. It is a weak year though so far with only one album selling a million so far at the mid-year point. There are always going to be a few really robust Christmas sellers or albums close to a million that get a Christmas boost. If she does have a huge single and even another one on the rise and all promo comes together it is possible though.
I just looked it up and the #10 album last year sold 1.2 million so I guess it is possible that a million sold wouldn't even get her top 10. I didn't realize over 10 albums sold a million+ last year!

I see her debuting with like 500-600k and people talking about how she's "over".

Yeah that is pretty much a guarantee. Anything she does will be a huge flop even if it triples what any other pop star has debuted with. I am honestly more concerned with a longer lasting era this time than debut numbers though. BTW did last around a year, but I would love it if she could string together hits a bit more smoothly than she did last time.

If the 1st single performs similarly to Born This Way, I see her opening with 400k which is fine to me. If the 1st single makes a bigger impact than BTW, she'll easily do 500k which is fantastic. Can't see her doing more than half a million though.

I love(d) the Born This Way album, but I'm way past the biker-chic 80s-inspired Gaga now. I loved that she went a bit left-field with the era, but now it's time to get back to what made her who she is -- a pop star for 'the future.' What she created sonically and visually for The Fame/Monster seemed forward, exciting, fresh, colorful, campy, light-hearted, cheeky, fun. I need that levity back.

I want more GaGa from the "Telephone" video and less from the "Marry the Night" video (though I still enjoyed it).

You stole that from me! She's looking awesome. And I thought both the Telephone video and song were better than Marry The Night. I'm really looking forward to the poppy-immature dance era she as planned out for us.

So this, yay or nay? YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Why can't she dress like that all the time? There's something about her that makes everything she wears super modern so I don't get some of the choices she makes cause she can pull of a 'normal' style very well but at the same time she elevates it to a whole other level.
