On last week's write up, Carly had 131M, and Rihanna had 110M. Let's say Katy had 100M. As of right now, it would seem to me that sales and airplay between the two will cancel out, and then it comes down to streaming, in which Carly is ahead, and obviously #1 again. I think as long as Katy keep gaining on airplay, and stays ahead of her on sales, it will always come down to streaming. I'm not sure what is going to dethrone her at this point. It could be none of the current songs, because the songs that are surging in sales, have low airplay and low streaming. In all reality, Carly could pull a 10-week #1 sprint, cuz even with No Doubt, streaming and airplay will be too low. You need to be high on all 3 at this point. You can't disregard streaming, and that takes awhile, even if downloads and initial airplay are strong. Katy had 75M airplay as of last week and should have approx. 88M when this week's charts are published. BTW, do we have an estimated formula yet for calculation of points and weightage of all the components?

Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" (210,000; up 2%) and Maroon 5's "Payphone" (183,000; down 1%) are also stationary this week. Usher's "Scream" rounds out the top 10 -- another non-mover at No. 10 -- with 97,000 (down 5%). Digital track sales this past week totaled 25.17 million downloads, down 1% compared with last week (25.38 million) and down less than 1% stacked next to the comparable week of 2011 (25.29 million). Year-to-date track sales are at 672.73 million, up 6% compared with the same total at this point last year (635.35 million).

So the ranks should be like this:
Song : Sales - Airplay
1. Call Me Maybe: 244k - 135M 2. Payphone: 183k - 137M 3. Somebody That I Used to Know: 142k - 128M 4. Wide Awake: 210k - 88M 5. Lights - 160k - 76M 6. Where Have You been - 102k - 113M
3-4 and 5-6 will still be close and could go either way depending on streaming. CMM is comfortably getting another week at #1.

I see Payphone blocking Rihanna, Katy, and Ellie from an overall airplay #1. Its going to continue to remain stable/gain for a while since its taking off on Rhythmic. WHYB is pretty much done while WA and Lights wont be getting much more support from formats other than Pop and HAC.

^ She's performing on the Teen Choice Awards in 2 weeks so there's always a chance that she could rebound back to #1. She's also still #1 on Amazon (Still 25 cents).

Carly Rae Jepsen Still No. 1, Nicki Minaj Makes History On Hot 100 Chart
July 11, 2012 | By Gary Trust, New York
Carly Rae Jepsen tops the Billboard Hot 100 for a fifth week with "Call Me Maybe," while Nicki Minaj's "Starships" has logged its first 21 weeks in the top 10, establishing a new record.
"Maybe" continues its Hot 100 command as it leads the Hot Digital Songs chart for an eighth week (244,000 downloads sold, down 3%, according to Nielsen SoundScan) and returns (2-1) for a fourth week atop On-Demand Songs (987,000 on-demand streams, up 10%, according to Nielsen BDS). On Hot 100 Airplay, "Maybe" rebounds to its No. 2 peak (3-2) with a 1% increase to 132 million all-format audience impressions, according to BDS.
The song, now covered by even Cookie Monster, as "Share It Maybe" ("it" being a cookie, of course), ties Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" (eight weeks in 2005, the chart's first year contributing to the Hot 100) for the longest reign on Hot Digital Songs by a lead solo female. Flo Rida's "Low," featuring T-Pain, holds the mark among all titles, with 13 weeks atop Hot Digital Songs in 2007-08.
On the far end of the Hot 100's top 10, Minaj's "Starships" descends 8-9 in its 21st week. While that move might seem unremarkable on the surface, it grants the rapper/singer a piece of Hot 100 history. Since debuting at No. 9 the week of March 3, "Starships" has yet to depart the top 10 for 21 weeks running, marking the most consecutive frames that a top 10-debuting title has remained in the region from its arrival. "Starships" passes the Black Eyed Peas' 2009 smash "I Got A Feeling," which spent its first 20 weeks in the top 10, including 14 at No. 1.
(Check out last week's " Ask Billboard" reader mailbag for a list of the 10 most such consistently successful out-of-the-gate hits prior to "Starships.")
Contributing to its four-months-long chart fortunes, "Starships" has won support at multiple radio formats, reaching No. 2 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, No. 3 on Mainstream Top 40 and Rhythmic and No. 24 on Adult Top 40. On the lattermost chart, that's Minaj's best rank as a lead act.
"Starships" has racked 1.3 billion cumulative audience impressions in reaching No. 3 on Hot 100 Airplay and has sold 3.2 million downloads.
Back in the upper reaches of the Hot 100's top 10, Maroon 5's "Payphone," featuring Wiz Khalifa, holds at No. 2. The song spends a second week at No. 1 on Hot 100 Airplay (136 million, up 2%), while dipping 1-2 despite a less than 1% gain to 935,000 on-demand streams on On-Demand Songs. The track keeps its No. 3 rank on Hot Digital Songs (183,000, down 1%).
With "Payphone" having racked all 12 of its weeks on the Hot 100 between Nos. 2 and 3 and still gaining in radio audience and streaming, it could eventually challenge Minaj's newly-set (and perhaps not-yet-completed) record for the most weeks in the Hot 100's top 10 for a title that started in the top tier.
Gotye's former eight-week Hot 100 No. 1 "Somebody That I Used to Know," featuring Kimbra, remains at No. 3, while Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" stays at No. 4 with top Airplay Gainer honors. "Awake" lifts 7-5 on Hot 100 Airplay (87 million, up 22%), while swelling its totals on Hot Digital Songs (2-2; 210,000, up 2%) and On-Demand Songs (9-9; 557,000, up 4%), all in the wake of her 3-D documentary/concert film "Katy Perry: Part of Me," which premiered July 5 and pulled in $7.1 million in box office receipts in its opening weekend.
Ellie Goulding snares her own slice of Hot 100 history, as "Lights" lifts 6-5. In its 29th frame, the song completes the longest climb to the chart's top five not aided by country-to-pop crossover success or multiple releases. Lonestar's "Amazed" (2000) holds the overall record with a 30-week ascent to the top five, pumped by pop and adult radio crossover success after its initial run at country radio. Los Del Rio's "Macarena" (1996) and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" (1992) also each reached the top five in their 29th frames in their second release cycles.
"Lights" leaps 11-6 on Hot 100 Airplay (77 million, up 14%) and 6-5 on On-Demand Songs (763,000, up 22%) and bullets again at No. 5 on Hot Digital Songs (160,000, up 6%).
Rihanna's "Where Have You Been" retreats 5-6 on the Hot 100, although it gains on Hot 100 Airplay (4-4; 116 million, up 5%) and On-Demand Songs (17-18; 423,000, up 10%). It's a non-mover at No. 9 on Hot Digital Songs (102,000, down 7%).
David Guetta's "Titanium," featuring Sia, rises 9-7 on the Hot 100 and fun.'s former six-week No. 1 "We Are Young," featuring Janelle Monae, drops 7-8.
Below "Starships" at No. 9, Usher's "Scream" holds at No. 10 for a third week, tacking on the Hot 100's top Streaming Gainer award, powered by a 20-16 blast on On-Demand Songs (449,000, up 30%).
Check billboard.biz tomorrow (July 12), when all rankings, including the Hot 100, Hot Digital Songs, Hot 100 Airplay and On-Demand Songs, will be refreshed, as they are each Thursday.

The Hot 100 is in desperate need of a shake-up.

I don't see why not... Katy has a bit of ground to cover in streaming and AirPlay, even if she does beat her in sales. There are no other titles threatening her, with Maroon 5's sales petering out as well.

Pink might be able to go Top 10 next week if she can sell enough. Flo Rida looks more like a safe bet with "Whistle".

Here's something interesting: this is the first time in ten years that we've had three songs in a row spend five weeks at #1.
The last such streak:
"Ain't It Funny" 6 weeks "Foolish" 10 weeks "Hot in Herre" 7 weeks "Dilemma" 10 weeks

Week Ending April 8, 2012. Songs: Jepsen’s Digital Record
. .By Paul Grein | Chart Watch – 19 minutes ago.. . .
Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" has sold 4,310,000 copies, and it's still #1 on both the Hot 100 (for the fifth week) and Hot Digital Songs (for the eighth week). This is the first time that a song has rung up such a massive sales tally while it was still #1 on the digital sales chart. "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye featuring Kimbra was the first song in digital history to have sold 4 million copies while it was still on top of the digital sales chart. It had sold 4,042,000 copies as of its final week at #1. "Somebody…" is already up to #14 on Nielsen SoundScan's running list of the best-selling digital hits of all time. "Call Me Maybe" is #51 on that list. But the impressive records they have set suggests that they will wind up very near the top of the list. "Low" by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain was the first song to top the 3 million mark while it was still #1 on Hot Digital Songs. Four other songs achieved the feat before "Somebody…" went one better and hit the 4 million mark while it was still #1. Those others: Ke$ha's "TiK ToK," Adele's "Rolling In The Deep," LMFAO's "Sexy And I Know It," and "We Are Young" by fun. featuring Janelle Monae. "Call Me Maybe" is the first song to rank #1 on Hot Digital Songs for eight weeks (consecutive or not) since the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" wound up a 10-week run at #1 in September 2009. It pushes ahead of a trio of more recent collabo hits that had seven weeks on top: "Love The Way You Lie" by Eminem featuring Rihanna, "E.T." by Katy Perry featuring Kanye West; and the aforementioned "We Are Young." "Payphone" by Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa holds at #2 on the Hot 100 for the fourth week. That's the longest run at #2 by a song that hasn't (yet) advanced to #1 since Cee Lo Green's "F**k You (Forget You)" had four weeks at #2 in March 2011. "Payphone" jumps to #5 on the year-to-date chart, displacing Nicki Minaj's "Starships," which dips to #6. "Payphone" also returns to #1 (for a second week) in the U.K. It was dethroned last week by "This Is Love" by will.i.am featuring Eva Simons. Ellie Goulding's "Lights" jumps from #6 to #5 in its 29th week. That's the longest that any single has taken to reach the top five since Lonestar's "Amazed" hit the top five in its 30th chart week in February 2000. That sleeper smash was a big hit in multiple formats. It topped the country chart for eight weeks and the pop chart for two weeks. It also spent five weeks at #2 on the adult contemporary chart. Nicki Minaj's "Starships" dips from #8 to #9 in its 21st week. It has been in the top 10 the entire time. Billboard's Gary Trust reports that it's the first song to spend its first 21 weeks in the top 10 in the history of the Hot 100. It surpasses the Black Eyed Peas' aforementioned 2009 smash "I Gotta Feeling," which spent its first 20 weeks in the top 10. (Not to take anything away from Minaj's achievement, but few songs debuted in the top 10 prior to 1995, so they couldn't have achieved this feat. Between the creation of the Hot 100 in August 1958 and June 1995, just three songs debuted in the top 10. All three were by the Beatles: "Hey Jude," "Get Back" and "Let It Be.") Here's the low-down on this week's top 10 songs. The Top Five: Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" holds at #1 for the fifth week in its 20th week on the chart. This is its 15th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #1 (244K)…"Payphone" by Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa holds at #2 for the fourth (non-consecutive) week in its 12th week on the chart. It has been in the top three the entire time. Digital sales rank: #3 (183K)…"Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye featuring Kimbra holds at #3 for the third week in its 27th week on the chart. This is its 19th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #6 (142K)… Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" holds at #4 for the fourth week in its seventh week on the chart. This is its fifth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #2 (210K)…. Ellie Goulding's "Lights" jumps from #6 to #5 in its 29th week on the chart. This is its third week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #5 (160K). The Second Five: Rihanna's "Where Have You Been" dips from #5 to #6 in its 12th week on the chart. This is its sixth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #9 (102K)..."Titanium" by David Guetta featuring Sia jumps from #9 to #7 in its 13th week on the chart. This is its second week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #7 (138K)…."We Are Young" by fun. featuring Janelle Monae dips from #7 to #8 in its 29th week on the chart. This is its 22nd week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #20 (74K)… Nicki Minaj's "Starships" dips from #8 to #9 in its 21st week on the chart. It has been in the top 10 the entire time. Digital sales rank: #12 (89K)…Usher's "Scream" holds at #10 for the third week in its 11th week on the chart. This is its third week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #10 (97K). Adele's "Set Fire To The Rain" tops the 4 million mark in digital sales this week. It's the third song from 21 to reach or exceed this level. "Rolling In The Deep" stands at 7,307,000. "Someone Like You" has sold 5,086,000. Will "Set Fire" reach 5 million? Place your bets. "Wild Ones" by Flo Rida featuring Sia tops the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. It's the hip-hopper's fourth song to reach this level. It follows "Low" (featuring T-Pain, 6,372,000), "Right Round" (5,228,000) and "Good Feeling" (3,357,000). This marks the first time he has had back-to-back 3 million-sellers. Luke Bryan's "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)" tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week. "Country Girl" is Bryan's best-selling song, but it's also his only song of his last five releases to fall short of the #1 spot on Hot Country Songs. It peaked at #4. How odd. Only two other male solo country artists have landed a 2 million-seller in the digital era: Jason Aldean (who has had four, counting a collabo with Kelly Clarkson) and Blake Shelton. V.I.C.'s "Wobble" tops the 1 million mark this week. Not bad for a song that peaked at #94 on the Hot 100 (and #84 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs). The song was released in July 2008, but didn't reach the R&B chart until June 2011. It finally cracked the Hot 100 in January of this year. U.S.A.: Lee Greenwood's 1984 perennial "God Bless The U.S.A." was the top-selling America-themed song over the Fourth of July weekend. It sold 25K copies this week, bringing its total to 738K. Others that fared well this year: Bruce Springsteen's 1985 hit "Born In The U.S.A.," Toby Keith's 2002 country hit "Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American)" (11K) and Don McLean's 1972 smash "American Pie," each of which sold 11K. Shameless Plug: Luke Bryan's "Rain Is A Good Thing" this week becomes the 100th country song to sell 1 million digital copies. It's Bryan's fifth million-seller, which puts him in a tie with Jason Aldean for the most among male country solo artists. This calls for a Chart Watch Extra. Earlier today, I posted a piece in which I look at the 100 biggest country hits in digital history. Taylor Swift has a pack-leading 15 of them, but Carrie Underwood isn't far behind with 10. I have lots more country lore in this Extra. If you're a country fan, don't miss it. To My Readers: I'll have a lot more to add after the full Hot 100 is posted, but this should tide you over.

So happy that Carly Rae is doing so well! Nice to see a former Canadian Idol kill it! Also very happy with how well Luke Bryan is doing on the digital charts. Tied with Jason Aldean for most Platinum selling songs :)
And Congrats Nicki! Starships has been a very big and consistent hit(same with Payphone---it will be a shame if it doesn't get at least 1 week at #1---from a chart watcher stand point).
Sad to see "Where have your been" fall, it's one of my favorite Rihanna song's(and I'd love it to get #1). Happy that Katy's holding on, should be #3 next week. And yeah, the Hot 100 is awfully stagnant(reminds me of some of the charts in the early/mid 2000's), but these are the biggest hits so I can't complain(too much).

Adele needs a soundtrack hit between albums kinda like Alanis Morrisette's Uninvited. That would be cool.
