And here it is, my last number-one of 2014. I just love it. The production is top notch, he slays the vocals and he is such a cutie pie. I want to hug him. I was a little late on this - I was late on him as well, what a waste! -, but it was immediate. It had a whopping 48 plays in its first seven days and continued to do over 20 for three more weeks. It has 194 plays right now and I'm till not over it, so 300 is in reach.
It blocked the huge "Blank Space" for five weeks.
Bless this song. Thank you Troye for existing.

Oh yeah. f**k this song. Thanks Katy for chasing trends inspiring some superior songs with trap-pop. Had poor longevity which I initially regretted, but not now. Overrated as hell.

I love this/her so f**king much. This ballad was huge for a sixth single. Skylar had a huge era with "Don't Look Down". "C'mon Let Me Ride" peaked at #10, so did "Final Warning". "Wear Me Out" went all the way to #1. Then months later "Back From the Dead" peaked at #19. "Tower (Don't Look Down)", the title song off the album became the second #1 and then came this. I supported a total of 7 singles which is unusual.

And as I mentioned the "better Dark Horses", here's one. There's not too much to say about this other than the fact that she's younger than me. What am I doing with my life? Also she's Australian, but not living in an Igloo.

Chart Week of 2015. January 3 (week 1) |
In the first week of January the top 5 shakes up a bit. "7/11" shots #5-1 becoming Beyoncé's 13th number-one which puts her in tie with P!nk for the 3rd most chart toppers. I consider the re-release the same era as BEYONCÉ so it joins a short list of albums producing at least three #1s. "Happy Little Pill" slips #1-2 after spending six straight weeks at top. "Uptown Funk" drops one to #3. I'm starting to get tired of it quickly, sorry Bruno. Hope it can still snatch it in a slower weeks even without a bullet. "The Heart Wants What It Wants" stays at #4 above "Blank Space" which is down #3-5. Selena's lead single off her GH goes platinum this week. "Sugar" and "Bed Of Lies" stayed at #6 and #7 respectively. "Sugar" goes 2X Platinum. DJ Earworm's 2014 mashup, "Do What You Wanna Do" jumps #13-8, matching the peak of last year's set. Ariana gets a fourth top 10 off her current album as "Hands On Me" jumps #11-9. "I'm Not The Only One" completes the top ten as Sam Smith's fourth top ten hit. It jumped from #14 to #10. -------------------- So I brought back the recurrency below #50. 11 songs would chart without it including "Magic", "Fancy", "Tower" and "Do What U Want".
| | "The Crying Game" jumps #19-14. "#icanteven" jumps #24-18 and is the third top twenty peaking song for The Neighbourhood. "I Don't Fuck With You" moves #23-22, a new peak. "All Hands On Deck" jumps #26-24 outpeaking "2 On". What a mess. "All I Want..." and "Rockin' Around..." jumps to #26 and #27 respectively. The latter almost repeaked. "Touch" jumps #32-28. Tony's and Gaga's "Winter Wonderland" is up #90-31. Dylan's and DJ Drybones' mashups debut at #42 and #43. Dylan :) "Underneath The Tree" jumps #99-55, a new peak. "Style" is up #89-61. "Pray To God" is up #88-70. Nicki Minaj debuts four new songs off her album. "Feeling Myself" with Beyoncé at #83, "Truffle Butter" with Drake and Lil Wayne at #92, "Get On Your Knees" with Ariana Grande at #95 and "Only" with Lil Wayne, Drake and Chris Brown at #99. St. Vincent's "Digital Witness" debuts at #96. Fifth Harmony's "Bo$$" and Madonna's "Living For Love" debut at #97 and #98.

So great to see "Falling", "Jubel", "Happy Little Pill", "Dark Horse" and "Prayer In C" so far on your EOY chart.
Sad to see that "Happy Little Pill" is no longer atop, but "7/11" is really good, so great to see both tracks in the Top 2. Also, your Top 10 is really good, with the exceptions of "Hands of Me", which I haven't listened to it yet. Anyway, there are too many great songs, including "Latch" (I don't remember if I point out that it's weird to see this here, but since I really like Disclosure, it doesn't matter at all), "Beggin for Thread", "Shut Up and Dance" (rebound ASAP!), "Supernatural" (needs to go higher), "Desire", "Style" and "Pray to God".

Robin had a huge year, and he's deserving of all the attention. I'm a sucker of good deep house songs and this is no exception, rather one of the most perfect songs in the genre. As you could see "Waves" finished at #99, which is mainly due the fact that it's 7 minutes long. What were they thinking? At least there are radio versions.

Chart run [2014]: 75 - 36 - 23 - 23 - 26 - 29 - 24 - 20 - 21 - 20 - 19 - 14 - 12 - 9 - 11 - 13 - 13 - 16 - 23 - 24 - 33 - 53 - 64 - 64 - 72 - 77

I pretty quick with this one, loved it, but it got old soooo fast. After like two months I was at that phase when I would slap anyone who played this. It would make my ears bleed. Eh, so this is definitely not something I would overplay without damaging my nerves. Hope he continues doing these soul-infused songs, but less repetitive next time, please.

A late 2014 hit, yay. "Centuries" was blocked by Taylor Swift - who else -, but with nice longevity it can be as big as their last lead was, even without that #1 peak.
| |
Chart run [2014]: 20 - 13 - 10 - 6 - 5 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 6 - 9 - 17 - 17 ...

Not as high as "Mirrors" (#4) and "Suit & Tie" (#15) last year, but he carried over the success of his The 20/20 Experience albums to this year. It's a nice ballad, but the first two singles did 1.5x and twice as well.

Chart run [2014]: 59 - 29 - 13 - 14 - 10 - 7 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 7 - 10 - 16 - 24 - 43 - 56 - 80 - 86 - 61
|
Got too tired of it too fast. Ironically, I love this again. The 10-week-run in the top ten is nothing to be ashamed of, but could have spent more time in the upper half of the chart. That would have put it in the year end top 20 easily. It's still higher than "The Way" [#42 last year] and she has onether song up. What could it be? Haha.

Chart run [2014]: 65 - 19 - 10 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 4 - 4 - 5 - 14 - 22 - 42 - 68 - 87 - 88 - 93 - 76 - 91 - 99
|
So I F'ed up the last update, left "A Sky Full Of Stars" out. Fixed it now, so everything is okay.

Well, since "A Sky Full of Stars" was in the other batch, I have to give it a shoutout too. Also, good batch, with the exception of "Happy", which I can't tolerate anymore because of the oversaturation it has.

"Waiting Game" is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Glad I have this a last push, it would have been a waste to let this peak in the teens.

Chart run [2014]: ... 69 - 76 - 68 - 70 - 48 - 31 - 24 - 20 - 20 - 18 - 17 - 13 - 11 - 11 - 4 - 6 - 5 - 8 - 12 - 17 - 25 - 37 - 50 - 58 - 64 - 67
|
I thought this would go #1 or at least top 3, but stalled at #6 for some reason. Overplay maybe? Its main strenght is the production and the ad-libs. Even though "In Your Arms" flopped, I'm glad they didn't try to release an AIW 2.0. Thank you Nico and Vinz for that.

Chart run [2014]: 74 - 37 - 26 - 27 - 12 - 11 - 9 - 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 7 - 6 - 9 - 11 - 21 - 25 - 34 - 45 - 67 - 79 - 77 - 80 - 95
|
Even though it spent only one week in the top ten, "Stay With Me" had some crazy longevity. 12 weeks inside the top 20 and 33 weeks on chart so far... and still charting. It will likely reach 35 weeks which is my treshold for the songs with longest chart runs list which consists of 26 songs right now.
| |
Chart run [2014]: 100 - x - 88 - 99 - 90 - 78 - 95 - 62 - 45 - 42 - 42 - 41 - 27 - 19 - 19 - 16 - 16 - 15 - 13 - 10 - 11 - 14 - 15 - 15 - 19 - 26 - 30 - 32 - 35 - 38 - 40 - 44 - 43 ...
|
Speaking of the list of longest running songs, "Made To Love" is present with the total of 38 weeks on my top 100. It had a strange chart run. It entered in July, 2013, before I even heard "All Of Me". I was stunned, realized how good this song is. It peaked at #29, I think and fell off after ~15 weeks. It re-entered after "All Of Me" was done and climbed so slowly it peaked in its 30th week.
| |
Chart run [2014]: ... 63 - 41 - 37 - 25 - 18 - 16 - 15 - 14 - 13 - 12 - 11 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 5 - 6 - 11 - 18 - 24 - 37 - 61 - 94
|
This is so dated, but so fun at the same time. I still can't believe "Danse" peaked at #2, especially after stalling for 8 weeks in the upper teens. It's still a fun song I occasionly listen to, so I won't regret it at all.

It took forever for "Hideaway" to happen. Maybe too late, so it dropped off fast after leaving the top ten. Well, there's a song yet to come that fell off even faster and for the same reason. I love the song, but it's no longer pleasant to play it on repeat. But HEY, this made the top 25!
| |
Chart run [2014]: 97 - 96 - 80 - 58 - 55 - 43 - 44 - 76 - 59 - 75 - 44 - 30 - 16 - 13 - 8 - 7 - 7 - 7 - 7 - 6 - 6 - 7 - 12 - 16 - 22 - 34 - 57 - 95 - 95
|
And here's the song I mentioned above, probably the song which took the least week to fall off the chart completely after leaving the top ten. Three weeks. But hey, this spent five weeks in the top three and beat "Hideaway" which charted for 29 weeks.
| |
Chart run [2014]: 49 - 38 - 35 - 26 - 17 - 16 - 14 - 15 - 11 - 9 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 4 - 3 - 9 - 13 - 31 - 58
|
Feel like a remix, yeah There it feel like a remix, yeah It must be the remix, yeah Got to feel like the remix, yeah
This song carried over from 2013 when it was #21 on the year-end with only 10 weeks (6 of those at #1). I have nothing else to say about this, this is one of my favorite songs ever and the year's points combined would beat the 2014 Year-end #1.
| |
Chart run [2014]: ... 1 - 2 - 5 - 8 - 8 - 11 - 11 - 12 - 14 - 17 - 19 - 36 - 33 - 26 - 34 - 44 - 55 - 41 - 45 - 50 - 59 - 50 - 48 - 72
|
"Human" is the first number-one of 2014, and I'm an idiot for dropping this so fast. Whatever.
It's a haunting ballad, the vocals are top-notch. I'm always here for ya music, give it to me Christina.
(btw "Human" is bigger than everything up until #10 because it had a 37 - 9 - 7 - 5 - 5 - 5 - ... run in last year's tracking period)
| |
Chart run [2014]: ... 5 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 3 - 8 - 10 - 11 - 14 - 25 - 40 - 39 - 49 - 65 - 64 - 73 - 73 - 74
|
Only one of the Hot 100 Year-end trinity hit #1 on my chart and it's "All Of Me". I proudly admit that I'm here for these mellow ballads. Glad it snatched the #1 before the juggernaut took over.
| |
Chart run [2014]: 90 - 86 - 50 - 22 - 12 - 7 - 5 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 3 - 3 - 9 - 22 - 26 - 51 - 55 - 65 - 68 - 71 - 75 - 68 - 68

As I said I am a huge fan of them. So much that "My Song 5" turned out to be their biggest hit (though not highest peaking) as a fourth single. The song has a hip hop feel to it, sounds like a golden mixture of indie rock and PBR&B. Something like The Neighbourhood's "#icanteven", but more organic... I guess?

Chart run [2014]: 83 - 51 - 34 - 24 - 19 - 20 - 17 - 20 - 14 - 12 - 11 - 7 - 5 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 9 - 10 - 15 - 18 - 28 - 32 - 35 - 43 - 52
|
"Take Me To Church" was pretty immediate. I knew this would be massive on my chart the first time I played it. Notice, how this never went below its debut position is at #17 currently. Expect it to hold in the 20s for the next few months unless something drastic happens.
Pretty sure this holds the record for the most weeks at #4.

Chart run [2014]: 32 - 15 - 12 - 10 - 8 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 5 - 4 - 7 - 9 - 10 - 13 - 19 - 15 - 15 - 16 ...
|
Kind of a special chart run haha. It should have gone #1, not only because it beats a few number-ones this year, but it's close to a bunch of others. Like another Iggy song.
So "No Mediocre" is another immediate hit. It's just too catchy.
| |
Chart run [2014]: 20 - 10 - 8 - 8 - 3 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 3 - 5 - 8 - 8 - 16 - 23 - 30 - 46 - 58 - 93 - 88 - 99
|
I don't know how is this so high. Not saying it's not deserving, because I consider it a beautiful electronic ballad despite the fact that I have no idea what the hell is this about. It had a remix made by the Canadian group Adventure Club which helped it reaching a new peak (#4). Combined it has over 200 plays.
| |
Chart run [2014]: 100 - 66 - 37 - 27 - 28 - 23 - 20 - 13 - 12 - 12 - 11 - 9 - 9 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 4 - 5 - 7 - 11 - 21 - 30 - 29 - 40 - 60 - 51 - 70
|
SoKo was one of the biggest breakout acts of 2014, and her album titled I Thought I Was an Alien is one of my most played albums ever. "Don't You Touch Me" is an album cut I chose as a second single and follow-up to the #2 peaking lead. My main reason was that this was the most dynamic, aggressive song on the album and in contrast with the calm "We Might Be...". The song is still current, still enjoy it.

First, sorry for the colour. I can fund your eye surgeries if you PM me.
The second highest Igloo song on the list. It somewhat magically made it to #1, but it's far from her biggest hit. Rita was good for singing the chorus. I can't stop laughing when I imagine Katy doing this. I can imagine Rita being a revengeful femme fatale. Katy? Not so much.
I like the production of this more than "Fancy".

Chart run [2014]: 86 - 92 - 86 - 44 - 48 - 59 - 76 - 88 - 81 - 69 - 37 - 32 - 18 - 6 - 3 - 2 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 5 - 8 - 11 - 19 - 27 - 41 - 58 - 80
|
I believe this is what "Sing" was intended to be. While Ed Sheeran and Pharrell failed big time with that one, "Liar Liar" is possibly my second favorite Pharrell production. ...or third. Doesn't change the fact that this is really good. Cris is also cute. Can I hug him? Well done.
| |
Chart run [2014]: 33 - 18 - 12 - 6 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 3 - 6 - 7 - 12 - 22 - 30 - 43 - 79 - 74 - 76 - 80 - 89 - 82
|
DONT! WANT! Actually I do want. Let's just get some facts straight: "Anaconda" is super fucking annoying. Some of the voices in this recording make me want to throw my laptop through window... ..but I won't do that, because for some reason I'm obsessed with this atrocious excuse for a song. The sample is on point and overall the song is dancing on the edge of the 'so bad, yet so good'-territory. I cannot not love this. This was also her first solo #1.
| |
Chart run [2014]: 14 - 6 - 5 - 2 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 3 - 7 - 11 - 22 - 50 - 59 - 95 - 83 - 96 - 95
|
The double track of "Yoncé / Partition" was one of the first to catch my attention. I can't believe this missed the Year-end top 10, but that has a lot to do with its relatively short run of 21 weeks. I love everything about these two songs. They are sonically different, yet I can't separate them in my mind. Bey is so good at doing urban bangers.
| |

|
"" at this falling short of the top ten as well. This song was so powerful that it made "Sing" re-peak in the top ten after falling to the 30s. I adore Ed's urban-influenced songs, even more than the ballads. I love how shady "Don't" is.

Top 10 Artists To break away a little from the singles, I will present the Year-end artists. * Those who missed the top ten, but worth mentioning *- Ed Sheeran
- Sam Smith
- Lana Del Rey
- Lorde
- Satan
#10A$$I believe this is her highest showing since I started doing this year-end artists thingy in 2012. And I doubt she would be this high on it in 2011 either. Definitely a huge year for her, and it's not only about the features this time. "Anaconda" was a huge #1, "Pills N Potions" was a minor top 20 hit, and even "Bed of Lies" reached the top 200. "Bang Bang", "She Came To Give It To You" and "Touchin' Lovin'" gave her some points as well. Let's have a toast to her ass. *cheers* #9Slutty Honey Boo BooNow we know, that she loves big black balls. That makes two of us. The real question is: will she abandon the hairstyle that makes her look like she's 9, or they are consciously building a fanbase on pervs and pedophiles. *sigh*
Let me talk about the music, which was excellent. She had a big hit with "The Way" last year, but this year had "Promlem", "Break Free", "Bang Bang" and "Hands On Me" which peaked in January, but whatever. #8Psychotic BitchI had a strong dislike towards her up until "Mine", which I found cute. Red did pretty well itself, a #3 peaking lead single, a non-single peaking at #6, several top 20 peaking singles and a massive #1 in 2013 that made her the #12 artist of the year. 1989 is the point when I said: "s**t, I give up, I f**king love this woman". The moment I heard "Shake It Off", she got the music in my mind... ... and the album proved to be even better. I can't pick a favorite song, because they are all so damn good. I hope she gets even higher next year. #7That Pathrown girl who left Chris Martin for Iron ManGhost Stories was one of my most played albums this year and I've always been big on Coldplay. They had two songs in the year-end top 50, one of those is yet to come. #6Literal ChanteuseFrench singer-songwriter, actress Stéphanie Sokolinski is my favorite new discovery of 2014. Her debut EP came out in 2012, but it took that First Kiss video in March to introduce her. Her album's titled I Thought I Was an Alien and is an indie pop creation. Check it out! ;) #5Trailer Park PrincessDiscovered her around the time LTWYL hit and was replaying her solo version of the song. Then she started releasing songs, planning an album. For some reason she never managed to break through, so they scrapped the album. I assumed it's a basket case, but in late 2012 this bitch released an Eminem collab followed by two other singles in 2013, one of which hit #1 on my chart. There was a gap in the second half of the year. I chose my favorite album track as a single in the first weeks of 2014, and that song became massive hit. Such an underrated musician. Seeing her struggle is painful. #4Siami TripletsAnother act that should break through... like last year. Their points are made up of 5 songs. I will make at least another 1-2 singles off Days Are Gone. #3Your Daughter After Catholic SchoolWell, she's way ahead of #4 (52%) and there's (0.4%) points between the top three so she could have been #1 easily, like last year. I think I don't have to introduce her. #2Koalas in AtlantaSo close. Her debut year was actually 2013, but so late in that year, that she didn't show up on that list. I refuse to hate her. She not authentic. True. So what? I enjoy her so called garbage and The New Classic had many memorable productions. Geez, I even sent an album track to the top ten. Also, her humor game is on point. (see the picture) #1Bleach IvySelf-titled was a defining album of the year so Bey deservedly takes the top spot. Bow down to Qing Bee. (or the Beygency will hunt you down)

Love your top five from this previous week, namely "7/11" at number one.
Great top ten artists, and your names for them definitely made me laugh. So dead at all of them.
