Chart Week of 2014. March 22 (week 12)

Rock ballad "Tower (Don't Look Down)" stays at #1 for a second week. The song increased by 32% to over 300,000 points - a number unseen in the last 4 months. It's heading towards becoming her biggest hit, it's passing "Wear Me Out" in the coming weeks.
"All Of Me" by John Legend which stays at #2 for a second week increased by 7%. It was extremely lucky to top the chart a'la "Timber", but will be an even bigger hit, it seems.
"G.U.Y" has huge weekly points again, increasing from last week. It's stagnant at #3. "Stolen Dance" moves #5-4 with a 25% increase in points. Former #1 "Drunk in Love" slips #4-5 despite gaining."Happy" holds at #6 gaining 14%. Shakira's "Can't Remember To Forget You" stays at #7, but it's up by 22%. "Fancy" is up #10-8 in its second week on chart.
"Youth" jumps #11-9 becoming the second top ten for Foxes. Her song with Fall Out Boy, "Just One Yesterday" peaked at #7 and "Clarity" made it to #22. "Jubel" is down #9-10 in its 9th week in the ten.
"Dark Horse" drops out of the top tier after 9 weeks, but tops 2 million points. "Roar" finished its run at 3.5M. Will this top it?

Debuts: "Liar Liar" by Cris Cab at #33, "Drop The Game" by Flume and Chet Faker at #70. "Wild Wild Love" and "Riptide" at #85 and #86. "If U Got It", "Waves", "Can't Rely On You", "Falling" and "The Man" at the last five positions of the chart.

Key moves: "Let It Go" climbs from #13 to #11 heading towards the top ten. Jhene Aiko's "The Worst" reached a top twenty week with its #26-18 climb. Christina Perri scored a second top 30 hit this era as "I Believe" soars #49-23. "Human" peaked at #1 for 3 weeks. Justin Timberlake gets his fourth single off The 20+20 Hours Experience in the top 30 as his new "Not A Bad Thing" shot #59-29 in its second week. "Take Back The Night" peaked at #13, "TKO" at #26 and "Drink You Away" reached #21.

And big news: One Direction scored their highest peaking song this week with "Story Of My Life" jumping #65-45 in its 17th week. "What Makes You Beautiful" was their only song to get into the top 50 peaking at #48, but that was in its second run in January, 2013. That song spent 24 weeks on my chart. "Best Song Ever" was their other significant charter peaking at #53.

Well... yeah it's taking baby steps... backwards. It's basically stable in points in the last three weeks and I've seen some weird runs on my chart, so I don't write it off.

Chart Week of 2014. March 29 (week 13)

I don't have time and not in the mood to write a long commentary.
This is the last week of Q1, 2014. The #1 song of the first quarter is "Drunk in Love" which drops #5-6 this week.
"G.U.Y." moves #3-1 after spending 14 weeks in the top ten. The song benefits from the release of the music video giving it the highest weekly play count I've recorded since September (57 plays). It's the third single off ARTPOP to reach #1.
"Tower (Don't Look Down)" is pushed down to #2 despite posting massive points for the third week in a row. "All Of Me" is likewise down to #3. The chart is so strong, that even the #7 song would be an easy #1 in January, let alone the top 3.
"Stolen Dance" spends another week at #4.

Iggy Azalea scores her first top 5 peak with "Fancy" (up #8-5). "Change Your Life" peaked at #6. "Can't Remember To Forget You" is a non-mover at #7, "Happy" drops to #8 and "Youth" spends a second week at #9.
The new entry in the top tier is "Let It Go", which moves #11-10. It's Idina's first top ten.

There are a whole lot songs rising quickly towards the top 10: "Waiting Game", "Partition", "Addicted To You" or "Not A Bad Thing" for the record.
New entries include: "ARTPOP" and "Manicure" thanks to the ARTPOP film. The former got a new peak this week. "We Might Be Dead by Tomorrow" debuts at the magical #29 spot. Shakira's, Sia's and Karmin's new songs enter the chart. Bastille got a fourth chart entry with "Things We Lost in the Fire".

It's not a "choice" by any means. I love the songs - like most of the album -, but its position is almost 100% made by the ARTPOP film. That's why "MANiCURE" is there too, and "Venus" jumped 70 spots.

Yay, happy to hear that. I love like half of their album, and this is my favorite, I think. I plan to let it outpeak "Pompeii" (#18).
