October 6, 2013-Lorde becomes the first artist ever to hold the Top 3 all to herself. Only three artists have ever even had two songs in the Top 5 at once, let alone three in the Top 3. Plus, they're all singles, while two of the other three artists relied on album tracks. Lorde is simply killing. "Tennis Court" spends a second week at #1, "Royals" holds at #2, and "Team" rises 5-3.
-Demi Lovato's "Heart by Heart" rises 6-4, becoming her eighth Top 5 hit following "Give Your Heart a Break" (#1), "Heart Attack" (#1), "I Hate You, Don't Leave Me" (#1), "For the Love of a Daughter" (#2), "Something That We're Not" (#3), "Skyscraper" (#4), and "Made in the USA" (#4).
-Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball" slips 3-5. Katy Perry's "Roar" slips 4-6. Lady Gaga's "Applause" holds at #8. Ellie Gouding's "Burn" slides 7-10.
-Cher Lloyd's "I Wish", featuring T.I., rises 13-7, becoming her fourth Top 10 hit, following "Oath" (#4), "With Ur Love" (#8), and "Want U Back" (#9). Cher is only the second artist to send their first four US singles to the Top 10, following One Direction. She was previously the only female artist to send their first three, but Lorde recently tied her with "Team"'s #9 debut. T.I. is also the only male artist in an otherwise entirely female Top 10.
-Avril Lavigne's "Rock N Roll" rises 14-9, becoming her second Top 10 hit after "Here's to Never Growing Up" (#8).
{Other New Milestones}
-Blake Shelton's "Mine Would Be You" rises 21-19, becoming his second Top 20 hit after "Sure Be Cool If You Did" (#14).
-Imagine Dragons' "Monster" jumps 55-24, becoming their fourth Top 40 hit after "Radioactive" (#1), "It's Time" (#3), and "Demons" (#14).
-David Nail's "Whatever She's Got" leaps 41-25, becoming his first Top 40 hit.
-Sage the Gemini's "Gas Pedal", featuring IamSu, jumps 46-27, becoming his first Top 40 hit.
-Ariana Grande's "Right There", featuring Big Sean, rises 44-29, becoming her second Top 40 hit after "The Way" (#8).
-Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home", featuring Mahjid Jordan, rises 45-30, becoming his ninth Top 40 hit after "Headlines" (#1), "Make Me Proud" (#1), "The Motto" (#1), "Take Care" (#3), "We'll Be Fine" (#4), "Practice" (#17), "Crew Love" (#32), and "HYFR (Hell Yeah F**kin' Right)" (#38).
-Daughtry's "Waiting for Superman" rises 56-33, becoming their second Top 40 hit after "Crawling Back to You" (#28).
-Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's "White Walls", featuring ScHoolboy Q & Hollis, rises 51-36, becoming their fourth Top 40 hit after "Can't Hold Us" (#1), "Thrift Shop" (#7), and "Same Love" (#27).
-Bruno Mars's "Gorilla" rises 53-38, surpassing its original peak of #50 and becoming his seventh Top 40 hit after "It Will Rain" (#1), "Locked Out of Heaven" (#6), "Natalie" (#9), "When I Was Your Man" (#17), "Young Girls" (#20), and "Treasure" (#35).
-Juicy J's "Bounce It", featuring Wale & Trey Songz, rises 77-69, surpassing "One of Those Nights" (#70) as his biggest hit.
{Debuts}
66. Jason Derulo - "Marry Me"
I've loved everything Jason's released so far a lot, and not just singles. Even his albums have been full with catchy songs that I constantly replayed. I really did not like this one that much for the first few listens though. It's grown on me a lot now, and I especially love the pre-chorus. Jason seems to be going a slightly less generic route for this album, and I'm loving it so far. This is his fifteenth song to chart.
1. Jason Derulo - "It Girl"
2. Jason Derulo - "The Other Side"
5. Jason Derulo - "Be Careful"
5. Jason Derulo - "Undefeated"
7. Jason Derulo - "Bleed Out"
9. Jason Derulo - "Breathing"
14. Jason Derulo - "Fight for You"
18. Jason Derulo - "Pick Up the Pieces"
37. Jason Derulo - "That's My Shhh"
46. Jason Derulo - "Givin' Up"
64. Jason Derulo - "Make It Up As We Go"
66*. Jason Derulo - "Marry Me"
75. Jason Derulo - "X"
87. Jason Derulo - "Give It to Me"
93. Jason Derulo - "Dumb"
71. Justin Timberlake - "TKO"
I was absolutely in love with the singles of the Future Sex/Love Sounds era, and this song is the closest he's come to that style from The 20/20 Experience, with the exception of "Tunnel Vision". Unfortunately, this song isn't nearly as good as the flawless singles from 2006-07, but it's still really catchy and miles better "Take Back the Night". This is his seventh song to chart.
3. Justin Timberlake - "Tunnel Vision"
6. Justin Timberlake - "Mirrors"
8. Justin Timberlake - "Don't Hold the Wall"
9. Justin Timberlake ft. Jay Z - "Suit & Tie"
71*. Justin Timberlake - "TKO"
75. Justin Timberlake - "Take Back the Night"
77. Justin Timberlake - "Pusher Love Girl"
72. Mike Will Made-It ft. Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa & Juicy J - "23"
Can someone please tell Miley she can't rap and should never try again? Her verse is so laughable, but the hooks of this song are so catchy that I can overlook it. This is Mike Will Made-It's first song to chart.
72*. Mike Will Made-It ft. Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa & Juicy J - "23"
85. Sage the Gemini - "Red Nose"
This song is overshadowed by "Gas Pedal", but this is still extremely catchy. This one serves as the Urban single, while "Gas Pedal" is the Rhythmic single (I don't get this strategy...). I hope this one catches on soon in a similar way to "Gas Pedal". This is Sage's second song to chart.
27*. Sage the Gemini ft. IamSu - "Gas Pedal"
85*. Sage the Gemini - "Red Nose"
88. Olly Murs - "Right Place Right Time"
Olly drops out this week with current US single "Dance with Me Tonight", but current UK single "Right Place Right Time" replaces it, already outpeaking it by five spots. This is one of my favorites from Olly's album of the same name, and I'm glad it was given a single release. This is his seventh song to chart.
7. Olly Murs - "Hey You Beautiful"
9. Olly Murs ft. Flo Rida - "Troublemaker"
30. Olly Murs ft. Chiddy Bang - "Heart Skips a Beat"
66. Olly Murs - "Army of Two"
88*. Olly Murs - "Right Place Right Time"
93. Olly Murs - "Dance with Me Tonight"
95. Olly Murs - "Dear Darlin'"
90. Taylor Swift - "Red"
Another song replacing a previous single this week. One word for this song: overrated. I liked this song well enough when I came out, but I didn't get the hype at all. I did think it would make a good multi-format smash though, but I've definitely changed my perspective on that. This song originally peaked at #49, and Taylor has charted with seventeen songs.
1. Taylor Swift - "Eyes Open"
1. Taylor Swift - "I Knew You Were Trouble."
2. Taylor Swift - "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"
4. Taylor Swift ft. The Civil Wars - "Safe & Sound"
4. Taylor Swift - "Ronan"
4. Taylor Swift - "The Moment I Knew"
5. Taylor Swift - "22"
7. Taylor Swift - "Ours"
15. Taylor Swift - "Superman"
18. Taylor Swift ft. Ed Sheeran - "Everything Has Changed"
23. Taylor Swift - "Begin Again"
29. Taylor Swift - "Starlight"
37. Taylor Swift - "If This Was a Movie"
49*. Taylor Swift - "Red"
65. Taylor Swift - "Stay Stay Stay"
82. Taylor Swift - "State of Grace"
93. Taylor Swift - "All Too Well"
94. Eric Paslay - "Friday Night"
I probably would have charted this a lot earlier if I hadn't already know the Lady Antebellum version. This song was originally an album track on their album Own the Night, but for some reason, was never released as a single. I'm glad it finally got its chance though because it's a really fun song. This is his first song to chart.
94*. Eric Paslay - "Friday Night"
96. Fitz and the Tantrums - "Out of My League"
This song took a long time to grow on me, but I like it quite a bit now, and I hope it crosses over to Pop. Not much else to say for this one. It's their first song to chart.
96*. Fitz and the Tantrums - "Out of My League"
97. Tyga ft. Future - "Show You"
Other than "Molly" and "For the Road", this is the only song on Hotel California that I genuinely liked. Future's voice can be so annoying, but it kinda just works on here. And it's nice when Tyga is being completely ratchet. It's his eighth song to chart.
4. Tyga ft. Chris Richardson - "Far Away"
28. Tyga ft. Chris Brown - "For the Road"
29. Tyga ft. Cedric Gervais, Wiz Khalifa & Mally Mall - "Molly"
44. Tyga - "Rack City"
77. Tyga ft. Lil Wayne - "Faded"
92. Tyga ft. 2 Chainz - "Do My Dance"
96. Tyga ft. Rick Ross - "Dope"
97*. Tyga ft. Future - "Show You"
99. A*Star - "Dodging Teardrops"
This song made a tiny impact on some CHR stations. I don't really know why, but it stuck with me for some reason. I've never heard of this group before, so I have no clue where it came from. It's their first song to chart.
99*. A*Star - "Dodging Teardrops"
100. AWOLNATION - "Sail"
It's no secret that I hate this song and its unnatural success. I still don't like it, but it's tollerable now. It's been bubbling under for pretty much most of the year, and is just now entering. It actually peaked at #93 two years ago when it was initially popular. It's their only song to chart.
