R.E.M's Michael Stipe is recording a Katrina benefit EP, featuring six cover versions of Joseph Arthur's "In The Sun", which the single version will include Chris Martin of Coldplay.

Other versions include Joseph Arthur himself giving guest vocals, and re-mixes by will.i.am of Black Eye peas, Timbaland, Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne, and former Smashing Pumpkin James Iha.

Wouldn't that make it a maxi CD if there are six versions of the same song? I know there are certain criteria that seperate what makes an EP and what makes a maxi or CD single.
