This song is still picking up stations. #17 and possibly rising. Better than I expected so far. But will any of this result in album sales? It will but the question is how much? If this can keep up the momentum and with "How Do You Love" up next. They should get a GOLD cd atleast. I mean I'd buy the cd for "How Do You Love". It's the best song they've ever done if you ask me & "Better Now" is the 2nd best IMO. If they can't sell those 2 they can't sell anything, Wrap IT Up & Retire the world's done buying. It's a great cd but people aren't buying like they once were. Where most people used to buy 4-5 cd's a month now they buy 0-1. I used to buy 20 cd's a year now I buy like 3. It's not the music because I love the state of music now more than I did 5-6 years ago especially Hot AC.

I'm glad to see this has become a hit at Hot AC. This is probably my favorite song in the Hot AC top 20 right now.

I've noticed this song has been included in the last couple Ratethemusic surveys I've received. I picked up the CD at the library again because they are coming to town in a few weeks and I'm trying to decide whether to go to the show or not. Anyone see them on this current tour?

Yes, excellent show. Let me just say this, I remember about 6 or 7 years back I didin't go to one of their shows because I thought it was too pricey. Even though I've seen them live now, I am STILL kicking myself for not going to that show. Collective Soul is one of the better live shows out there, I highly recommend going.

I just heard Better Now as the music on a Special K commercial. Interesting tie in.

It's all the way up to #12 with a triple digit bullet. It passed the Adult Top 40 peak of "The World I Know". :o

I checked out the Collective Soul website and there is a audio clip of Ed Roland on the Howard Stern Show a few weeks back. Check it out. Gave the band some nice David & Goliath-type publicity. Ed said the album has sold 200,000. Add one, cuz I'm going to buy it since seeing them at the House of Blues two nights ago. They rocked! And I take back the comment I made earlier in this thread about Ed Roland's stage presence. He was really great! I do remember thinking to myself as I stood at the concert that Ed could go solo at any time and be quite entertaining with just him and a guitar. Not a huge star, but at least still be making and performing music for the rest of his life. He's got a wonderful voice.

I'm glad to see this song doing well, even if I think there are much better songs on the album, Collective Soul deserves some exposure. I'm trying to figure out if this will get any time at CHR or not. It's got some spins over there, but will it go for adds I wonder?

I noticed that it was up to about 100 spins at CHR/Mainstream Hit, but there are only 2 stations playing it. KUDD is spinning it about 70 times per week and WZYP is spinning it about 30 times per week. This song has a catchy hook and cool bassline during the chorus... It seems to me like it should make at least a small impact at pop radio.

I've longed for Collective Soul to make a comeback for the past 5 years, but no matter how hard I try I can't get into this song.

This is the best i've seen them do in years. And Hot AC is CHR POP of old it has all the same songs chr played in late 90's with the new hot ac stuff.

Looks like this might make the top 10.
I bought the album "Youth" today and I'm pretty happy with it. The album starts off with Better Now. It seems like the saxaphones during the chorus are more prominent than what I hear on the radio, but maybe I'm just dreaming...
There are some people criticizing Collective Soul saying that the album is too "radio friendly." Well, I happen to like their radio friendly songs, so after one listen, I think this is a pretty good album.
I hope "How Do You Love" is released next. It is really a great song.

It has always amazed me how idiot people can be when it comes to the so called radio friendly and being corporate when really bands like Tool or even Nirvana were corporate and capitalizing in marketing by being uncorporate and deliberatly unradio friendly. That in itself was a trend and a money scheme. To me whether its jazz, pop, rap, rock, country or whatever it has to have a hook. You'll never get a contract or radio play without a hook unless your rich and then you can force people to listen to it i guess, but to me music is like a pizza buisness in the way that if you want to people to like it or buy it you haft to make it appealing, you can't serve crap or uncatchy. Catchy is good uncatchy is bad, sure i love talent and great songwriting but someone like John Lennon or even Rob Thomas that can write good and still have a catchy tune takes more talent than poetry with no hook. And trust me if these bands don't have radio hits or sell cds they won't have record contracts at all very soon. Thats why it always amazes me when people say they sold out by going to a major lable. Thats what you shoot for just like baseball,no one wants to stay in the minors for ever cause you can't.............

Agreed with Ultra Mix Marv
Collective Soul are great and Better Now is a great song :) :). I dont see why CHR aint picking this up.. its a pretty catchie and poppy little ditty I think! Bring on the next single I say, cause even though Better Now is great, its getting boring now.

This was pretty much the only CD I've been listening to for the last two weeks and I'm feeling "Perfect To Stay" and "There's A Way" as the next two singles in no specific order. I guess it would depend on how long "Better Now" lasts. Speaking of "Better Now," as much as I want it to go top 10 and as much as it looks like it will, my pessimism tells me they'll be stuck at 11 for a few weeks and eventually drop. But you never know.

I'm pretty sure their next single will be How Do You Love?
I think it's got a great chance to be a big hit.
Better Now, I'm in agreement, my pessimistic nature is seeing the same thing you are, #11 and then dropping. I hope not, but....

I first heard this sometime last week, when Joe FM just up and added it. (On a side note, they've also recently added "Chariot", "Fall to Pieces", "Holiday", "Speed of Sound", and "This is How a Heart Breaks".)
IMO, there are points in this song where Ed sounds a LOT like Tom Petty.
I agree with those saying Pop should pick up on this one, but then again, I said the same thing about "What Happens Tomorrow", and that peaked at 12 here... [/font]

I was listening to a bootleg Collective Soul concert from June 6, 2005 and Ed Roland said "So when you get tired of hearing our latest single, Better Now, by god, you are going to get tired of hearing this one. This will be our next one..."
And they start playing "How Do You Love"

I just checked and Better Now picked up a few adds at Mainstream Hit. Only two stations had been playing the song for a while, but all of the sudden, 3 more stations picked up this song.

You are right, I searched on Google and it looks like it did go for adds at pop on the chart Week Ending 7/22/05. At least it is picking up a few adds at Pop. I'm glad they are least trying at pop radio again.

At least it went for adds. I'm in agreement, if they are at least promoting it to pop, that's a good thing. It's up to pop radio to pick this thing up and make it a hit. I'm confident if they listen to their research they'll play it.

Oh well! Pop just doesn't know a good song when it comes around. At least this will break into the top 10 at Hot AC in the next week or so.

Well 9 CHR/Pop stations are playing this now. I wouldn't give up on it yet at Pop.

This is being played by (at least) 15 pop stations now. Looks like it will make it to #8 or better at Hot AC.

92 spins away from #7 and 3 Doors Down seems to be dropping like a rock at this point! Unfortunately, nothing seems to be happening at Pop but no one really expected anything so that's not a big deal. Anyway, I've been listening to the Cd a lot more and I am definitely feeling "How Do You Love" as the next single. I think it could be one Hot AC's biggest hits of next year assuming "Better Now" hangs around for a few months. And "There's A Way" seems like it's a great position to be the 3rd single. I'm so excited they're seeing success!
