I think this is about to peak at Hot AC, but it could make it to #7 any maybe even #6.
It looks like it got a few test spins at some Pop stations, but now only six Pop stations are playing it.
Now that Collective Soul is back in the mix a little bit, How Do You Love should be a big hit at Hot AC and maybe a minor hit at Pop.

I hope How Do You Love gets the reception it deserves. Better Now actually outperformed by quite a ways what I was expecting. Looking forward to seeing these guys get back in the limelight a little bit.

OK, so now that "Better Now" is on its way out after a more than impressive run, what do you think the future has in store for them at Hot AC? Assuming that "How Do You Love?" has been confirmed as the next single, might they have a shot at becoming a core artist with this album? I think that if promoted enough, "How Do You Love?" could easily be bigger than "Better Now" and become a top 5 winter hit with longevity. I also can see "There's A Way" making the top 10 during spring and "Perfect To Stay" doing the same during the summer. Maybe I'm being a little overly optimistic, but this band deserves and it seems as though it could be done. By the way, this is gradually pulling ahead of Rob Thomas's record as the best one I've gotten all year.
My Predictions:
1. "Better Now"- #8 (Duh! But seriously, what a pleasant surprise it is seeing them make it happen!) 2. "How Do You Love?"- #4 (I originally pegged "Perfect To Stay" as the second single but this is far superior. Presumably, it will be impacting sometime in October and lasting through the winter.) 3. "There's A Way"- #5 (This is just the perfect song to kick of spring and bring in some warmer weather. I just overall rocks and might be the best song on the album.) 4. "Perfect To Stay"- #7 (If everthing goes as predicted pushing a fourth single wouldn't hurt. This would seem like their best shot. I know "Under Heaven's Skies" is another possibility but the "you're beautiful my love" line in the chorus turns me off. Otherwise, I would've chosen it instead.)
Any thoughts, or rather, is this plausable?

"Counting the Days" was the first single, so if the release schedule looks like that then "Perfect to Stay" would be the fifth single. They'll probably get a top 20 out of their next single, then they may or may not release a fourth single. You're saying they're going to follow up their biggest Hot AC hit ever with three songs that peak even higher? It's not very plausible to me, sorry.

I agree that it might not be plausible for three songs to peak higher than Better Now, but I think it very possible if not likely that How Do You Love will outpeak Better Now at HotAC with a real shot at impacting Pop. I don't honestly see any of the remaining songs doing that, but a 3rd top20 wouldn't be out of the question, IF the format is willing to embrace them after Better Now. We'll see. It's an exciting time to be a Collective Soul fan after that surprise hit, that's for sure.

I think if "How Do You Love" is the Top 10 smash I'm thinking it's gonna be with endurance, I think "There's A Way" will get a chance to be a 3rd single and should go Top 25 easy. "Counting The Days" was a rock radio release only so "Better Now" was the 1st official pop release.
My Predictions: "How Do You Love" #4 "There's A Way" #17

My Predictions: "How Do You Love" #4 "There's A Way" #17 If How Do You Love doesn't hit the pop chart, I can't see it being a top 5 HAC hit. I can't think of a top 5 HAC hit in the last 10 years that has not hit the pop chart. Unfortunately, big HAC hits have to have some love from pop radio...

This song is still picking up stations. #17 and possibly rising. Better than I expected so far. But will any of this result in album sales? My Hot AC station just started playing it recently. I even e-mail the DJ to thank him for playing it. These guys deserve success. And since I saw them a few months back, Ive been planning to buy the CD. I keep forgetting to look for it!

I could think of 4 prime examples of this that have happened in the last two years. First of all, there were "Heaven" and "100 Years" which peaked at #4 and #3 respectively on Hot AC and barely broke into the top 40 at Pop. Also, Alanis Morrisette's "Everything" which peaked at #4 on Hot AC didn't even break the top 50. However, the best example is "Give A Little Bit" which spent a few months at the top and is sure to be in the top 5 for the year, only making #46 on Pop. So it has happened many times before and unfortunately, I think Collective Soul is going to be added to this list. I don't know what it is, but something in the air today made me feel that this band was on the brink of a massive comeback.
Damn, I knew plausible was spelled with an I. :)

The only counterexample you presented was Alanis Morrisette's Everything. All of those other examples fit into what I said. And which Heaven are you talking about? The one by Live or the one by Los Lonely Boys? I don't remember Live's Heaven peaking in the top 5 on HAC.

I don't like how they took the saxophone out in the video version. I guess it was because it'd seem odd to have the guy out there in the street with a sax instead of a guitar? Seems a little petty to me.

For all the success of this song, has CS sold any albums? Soundscan on the album? When did it come out?

Just out of curiousity, does anyone have any chart info on singles from indie albums? Maybe a better question would be, how often does a single from an indie album make the top 10 or 20 at Hot AC?
Making the top 10 at Hot AC seems really good for an indie release.

I think I had overheard someone mention that it was charting VERY high for an Indie single release, but it would be nice to have some chart info on others to know for sure how it did relative to others.

They get paid b4 collective soul gets paid so as long as they are selling 200,000 on 1 hit single on a indie release i see no problems, they are earning that indie co money every time that songs played on radio.

In this case, the record company IS Collective Soul, so as long as they are making money perhaps they can keep promoting singles?

I am very glad to see the guys of CS back. They deserve every bit of success. Where I am, the song is played every hour, on 3 stations.
