This is the new single from her newest album, The Beekeeper. It has a very hot, humid, summery sound to it. As a single, however... I don't think it'll be a hit. It's too "lounge" sounding for radio. They would have been MUCH better off releasing Cars and Guitars *sigh* But, oh well, we'll see. I hope this gets a better push than the second single from Scarlet's Walk.... that, if you don't remember, was Taxi Ride. That could have been a HUGE hit for her but it got no promo whatsoever and bombed.

I don't know, I describe songs weird. I use feelings rather than actual sounds.
If a song has a "humid" sound, to me it means that it makes you feel really hot and like you're in summer-time, sitting by a pool or sitting outside at night with bugs and listening to good music.
That is humid to me *shrug*

"Cars And Guitars" would be her best bet at another chart showing.

I used to remember watching that vid every Saturday on the Vh1 Weekend Top 20 show, and that's how I got introduced to Tori Amos. After that, I always wondered if she released a follow-up to my favorite AC single of all time.

So that's why I never heard of Tori again after "A Sorta Fairytale". I used to remember watching that vid every Saturday on the Vh1 Weekend Top 20 show, and that's how I got introduced to Tori Amos. After that, I always wondered if she released a follow-up to my favorite AC single of all time. It was complete BS. After ASF, the whole Scarlet's Walk project went to hell. First, Taxi Ride... they had a contest for a fan to make a video for the song that they'd released. One was chosen, but never officiall released. It did chart on Triple A but not as high as ASF. Then, She released dance remixes of Don't Make Me Come To Vegas by Timo Maas (or something). Actually, the mixes were a success and they charted pretty high, I forget the exact position. Finally, the final single was Strange. She even did a radio mix for it, which had more of accessible sound with more vocals. It was actually very nice! I know there were some fans of it here on the board. But, there was NO video and it had NO promo. I think it BARELY charted on Triple A :( So yes, the sad story of Scarlet's Walk. PRAY that Sweet The Sting gets more promo, and a damn VIDEO so the album can get some more attention *sigh*

'Strange' was an AWESOME song and should have done much better! I think 'Sweet The Sting' could do fairly well. It sounds different but definately sweet and an attractive listen. It caught me first over any other song on the new CD.

'Strange' was an AWESOME song and should have done much better! I think 'Sweet The Sting' could do fairly well. It sounds different but definately sweet and an attractive listen. It caught me first over any other song on the new CD. It'll probably at least chart the Triple A format, but I'm not even ultimately convinced it'll go Top 20. As it was, "Taxi Ride" was almost as catchy as "A Sorta Fairytale" but that follow-up stalled below the Top 10. Plus, "A Sorta Fairytale" gathered up some decent temporary Hot AC airplay before tanking out of the lower part of that chart's Top 10. Tori Amos still remains a staple face to the format, and that, perhaps, may help this single actually make the Top 20 no matter what. Then again, R.E.M are too, and their second singles from their two most recent releases have faltered, with "Animal" not even going Top 20 and "Aftermath" barely doing so. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Couple things...
1) Hi everyone! I've lurked on this board and the old R&R board for three years or so, I've just never said anything. I'm a huge Tori Amos and Ani DiFranco fan.
2) "strange" never received ANY airplay. Only a handful of promo copies were sent out and it didn't ever even go for adds.
3) Epic's promotion of Tori has been, in my opinion, holistically awful. "fairytale" should have been a CHR Hit, "Taxi" should have gone higher than #37 on Hot AC, etc. They suck.
4) "Sweet the Sting" I believe should have been the first single. The album was advertized as featuring gospel choirs, vintage organs, and Afro-Cuban drums; "Sting" is the only song the record which features all of those. Why "Butterflies" was chosen, I'll never know, but in addition to well representing the record, I think "Sting" is the catchiest, most accessible song she's released in ages. "Cars" should come later.
And for the record, I don't think this single will go for adds until at the very earliest July, as that's right before Tori's "Summer of Sun" tour begins. I doubt they'd release a single while she was touring in Australia/Europe but who knows. Promos aren't even on Ebay yet, so I doubt it's in May, anyway...
Anyway, hi everyone! Hope to get to know all of you! :)

'Strange' went for Triple A adds. I remember because 'Mary' went for adds 13 weeks after that.

*thread hijack*
Did you see Tori live at all this tour?
I saw her at the Florida shows, NYC/CT and in California and am seeing 15 shows in Europe this summer. I thought she was quite amazing this time. I saw her 15 times on the Scarlet's Walk Tour, and only a couple times then was her voice as strong as it was now.
Anyway...
I've emailed my contact at Sony to inquire about when "Sting" will go for adds, so hopefully we'll know soon...

Oh yes, I saw her in Chicago on the 15.... AMAZING show, definitely the best I've heard her in years.

Oh f*ck you...I always go to Chicago shows as I formerly resided in the StL but skipped this one because I didn't want to fly all the way from FL to IL for ONE show...
And what a show that was.
Ah well...
"SWEET THE STING" goes for adds June 18 per my contact at Sony!!!

STS got 3 adds on Triple A. I expect her to get more once her summer tour starts and the video starts to make the rounds... I think with that right promo, this could be bigger than Sleeps With Butterflies. It's more radio friendly, and it's totally different from anything she's released. The video is very sexy! You can watch it on www.toriamos.com

I think this might be too loungesque to be a big hit.

Slowly getting added on Triple A. I can see Tori Amos going big on TripleA mainly and if she doesnt with this it'll be disappointing!
