This will be serviced to radio to promote the release of Jagged Little Pill:Acoustic that is being released June 13 at Starbucks and July 26 everywhere else. You can listen to the radio edit here, as well as listen to two other clips from the album :) www.myspace.com/alanismorissetteI personally LOVE it. Don't know how it'll do radio-wise. But it's a nice, fresh take on the song.

I love it! Wasn't too excited about this album, but I'll definitely pick it up now.

Good rendition, but would have preferred an unreleased track to be released instead. How weird would this be to chart on the Hot 100 again?

YAY :) I hope this album gets tons of exposure. Me too. I hope she does a bunch of TV appearances. Any word on some appearances? I already saw the Ellen DeGeneres one.

I'm also hoping for a lot of exposure. I'm a little worried that her sales numbers won't be so high because it will only be available at Starbucks for the first month or so. Upcoming Appearances: Friday, June 10 - ABC 20/20 Monday, June 13 - ABC Good Morning America Wednesday, June 15 - CBS David Letterman Saturday, June 30 - VH1 Interviews Alanis Monday, July 26 - NBC Jay Leno

Yeah, at first the sales won't be huge... but I think they will be pretty large for a Starbucks exclusive album. When the international release date rolls around, I think we'll see some decent sales for her. Maverick is planning a huge promotional campaign to support the record. They are really behind her this time :)

I'll mark those dates on my calender. I think the album will start off slowly during the first few weeks and then it will really pick up steam. Is Alanis doing a new music video for the new version of "Hand In My Pocket"?

Most likely it'll be a live video... and VH1 will eat that thing up to death. :)

Yeah I'm hoping she does some kind of video. I picture Alanis sitting on a stool in a dark room, with a guitarist, and then there is a projector projecting images from her career. That'd be really neat.

I'm guessing they released HIMP because the song is familiar to a lot of people and where Alanis isn't that big anymore, releasing a non-released song wouldn't do as well and releasing any of the other four singles would be like rehashing the past because the other four were already huge. Of the five singles released, HIMP was the least successful.
I hope the album does fairly well. I think it could do well. Not millions of copies but still good considering it's directly related to a huge album!

I heard this on my Hot AC station the other night. Then last night they were playing the accoustic version of "You Learn". I wonder if that was a one off or whether they like that one better and will play it instead.

ALANIS MORISSETTE Hand in My Pocket Producer(s): Glenn Ballard Writer(s): A. Morissette Publisher(s): not listed Genre: POP Label/Catalog Number: Maverick/Reprise (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: June 11, 2005
How can it have been an entire decade since Canadian sensation Alanis Morissette became a phenomenon at rock and top 40 radio with the 16-times platinum "Jagged Little Pill"? To celebrate the album's anniversary, the newly minted American citizen has released "Jagged Little Pill Acoustic." It's the kind of project that could just as easily fall into the "oops, shouldn't have" column as the "yeah, cool" one. Fortunately, the stripped-down version of "Hand in My Pocket" is absolutely charming. Morissette's vocal tics are still prominent, but there is such ease to her performance that it makes the well-traveled number sound like it has gone through spring cleaning. The relaxed pace also really draws those lyrics out. A surprisingly nice moment. βChuck Taylor

Wow, a good Alanis review... when was the last time that happened? Sheesh...
I wonder if she'll release a different track, along with a video to accompany it, around the time of the international release. The July 26th edition will be a dual disc so I hope that contains some goodies that make it worth buying again :)
