I'm so sorry to read about Rob's mom. It's very hard to lose a parent suddenly. That documentary sounds very interesting. I'd love to see it. I didn't know 3AM was about his mom. I'm off to listen to that song now with that in mind. Yeah, I always assumed it was a girlfriend in 3 AM. But the VH1 Storytellers special on MB20 told the story of it being about Rob's Mom who had cancer when he was about 12 or so. When you read the lyrics, it seems so evident. "3 AM" She say it's cold outside and she hands me my raincoat She's always worried about things like that She says it's all gonna end and it might as well be my fault And she only sleeps when it's raining And she screams and her voice is straining [chorus] She says baby It's 3 am I must be lonely When she says baby Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes Says the rain's gonna wash away I believe it She's got a little bit of something, God it's better than nothing And in her color portrait world she believes that she's got it all She swears the moon don't hang quite as high as it used to And she only sleeps when it's raining And she screams and her voice is straining [chorus] She believes that life is made up of all that you're used to And the clock on the wall has been stuck at three for days, and days She thinks that happiness is a mat that sits on her doorway But outside it's stopped raining I got a survey from Ratethemusic.com today and for the first time it had Little Wonders on it. Still had Streetcorner Symphony too.

I didn't know it was about his mom too. Now I can put more meaning behind the song when I listen to it.

This track is still gaining respectedly, but has slowed down considerably since entering the Top 20, from gains earlier last week of +530 to a current bullet of +284.

Yay, my station played it twice today. Finally! Someone called in to request it and then they played it again later in the afternoon.

It's interesting how a boarder changes things, because in Canada, the track isn't even Top 40 yet, and I haven't even heard it (can't say I'm looking forward to it, though).

I've been hearing it a bit even though I still hear 'Streetcorner Symphony'. Isn't this Top 30 on R&R's Hot AC in Canada chart?

So sad if true - but I can't find anything anywhere on it? ??? I love this song - but then again I love just about everything Rob does so that's little surprise. I hope it continues to do well on radio - and I hope we get some sort of news soon about a cd forthcoming in 2007 from either Rob or MB20. 3am is one of my favorite MB20 songs - along with If You're Gone. Unwell is right up there also for me (I know - most just don't get the love I feel for that song - it's aight haha) I really love his style of writing. Never to obvious but always so easy to get - if that makes sense?

Yeah, I think that I heard his mother passed away not too long ago too. I don't remember where I heard it though.
I used to love Rob Thomas and every single that he and Matchbox 20 released, but lately I've grown tired of him. "Streetcorner Symphony" was released too long after "Ever The Same" and I was already over the album by then, therefore I pretty much tried to ignore that song.
"Little Wonders" is fairly mediocre to me. I've grown tired of Rob Thomas and his solo work, and I'm a little weary as to how I'll like his work when he's back with Matchbox Twenty. I'm really hoping for a slight change in direction with their music. They seem to be burning out.

Check the previous page of this thread -- a couple people mentioned where they heard it. I'm not sure there are any print articles, but someone gives a funeral date and city if you want to try to find more info.

Her burial was in South Florida..Orlando area, where MB20 is actually from. I received the obituary via a friend of mine.

I actually have never been a fan, but Push and 3am are very good songs. These new ones just sound way too polished and calculated.

And here's amazon's review. Amazon.com Disney's animated adventure may be driven by themes of futuristic time traveling, but its musical score is a delightful, pop-driven hybrid that turns on decidedly back-to-the-future sensibilities. Rob Thomas' hook-rich single "Little Wonders" and the All-American Rejects' collaboration with Danny Elfman "The Future Has Arrived" give the collection an immediate contemporary edge. But just as winning are disparate pop performances from Rufus Wainwright (the Nilsson-esque opening gem "Another Believer" and lilting "Motion Waltz"), while nouveau UK crooner Jamie Cullum turns in a swinging, piano jazz take on Wainwright's "Where Is Your Heart At?" as well as an inviting cover of "The Simple Life" in the same vein. Elfman's orchestral score returns him to the vibrant milieu of his early Tim Burton collaborations, supercharged here by a manic energy that seems equal parts Simpsons, Bernard Herrmann and Carl Stalling. Bringing the collection full circle is a big-band cover of Disney's vintage "There's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" theme performed with loopy big-band charm by They Might Be Giants and the Jonas Brothers more disposable Kim Wilde update, "Kids of the Future." --Jerry McCulley

Amazing that he has two different songs hitting the top 10 on two different charts. Leave it to Rob Thomas... And that doesn't even count how popular his recurrents still are.

The melody of this song makes me think of the track "Leave" from Mad Season (Track 11, two songs after "Bent").

LW just hit #9 on the HotAC chart and will probably move up two more spots this week. However, it's also likely that Gwen will pass Rob this week unless his bullet starts to increase with the release of the movie this week. I just saw the video without the movie animation in it on VH1. It's a nice video but I think I like the animation video better. All those quick cuts to the people on the street, in the windows, etc., seems a little choppy. Rob's segments are great, though.

LW is #8. Gwen did pass over him and will probably get to #1. I hope this song can get to 2-3. Cincinnati's HotAC just added this in low rotation. That station is not Rob friendly at all. They are a very pop leaning HotAC.
Also, saw Rob's interview on the VH1's Countdown show. Expect a Greatest Hits record "sometime" from MB20 with 3-4 new songs. He didn't say much more about that. Talked about the movie premiere, his charity work, his new label and two new artists (Hodges and British male songwriter - didn't catch his name), and his upcoming documentary about the inner workings of the recording/marketing on his album. Should be available on DVD at some point.

She only made it to #4 if I'm not mistaken with "Cool" back in 2005, so I think this song will peak about #4 HAC. Don't sleep on Nickelback, they'll be #1 again soon. As for Rob, this will be his usual top 3 peak, but I'm dounting it will get to #1. And as for Rob "burning out", I think that is true everywhere except Hot AC. He is the undeniable MASTER of this chart, and don't expect that to ever change.

Gwen is up to #5...and has a 317 bullet compared to 171 bullet for this. If this is gonna get to #1, it will have to wait out Gwen and outlast her, because i dont see it jumping her.

This song will have longevity, and TSE will not. This is just like the Nelly Furtado/Nickelback situation. Nelly climbed way faster than Nickelback, but after reaching #2, began to fall; Nickelback took over the #2 spot and will be #1 soon. TSE will probably peak at #2, but won't last very long, and Rob can wait like 10 weeks to get into the top 2 if he needs to.

^I agree, which is why i said he will have to wait Gwen out to get to #1.
However, i do think Gwen could get to #1, it will be close...and I hope she does, that song deserves it.
