The last of the Billboard releases for today. Out next week. Insert "one and done" joke here.

Crash Test Dummies are a band I admire for constantly railing against formula, yet haven't necessarily admired all their efforts either.................which is why they were "one and done" beyond their native Canada, especially in that "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" was a bizarre, unlikely hit in the first place.
I actually think their most recent album "Songs Of The Unforgiven" was excellent, even though their whole catalog between "God Shuffled His Feet" and that is hit-and-miss aside from their strong country-leaning album "I Don't Care That You Don't Mind" which I find quite listenable. "A Worm's Life" was an unfocused mess altogether ("My Own Sunrise" was great, though), "Give Yourself A Hand" was an admirably risky yet inconsistent effort (I do like "A Cigarette Is All You Get" and "Playin' Dead") and "Puss 'N Boots", though their catchiest album, is also their most hollow lyrically (aside from the excellent album-closing "It'll Never Leave You Alone" and "Flyin' Feeling").

I have a lot of Crash Test Dummies love, being Canadian and all. Their remake of "Ballad Of Peter Pumpkinhead" was a favorite of the 90's along with "Superman's Song".
Haven't really followed them too much in the '00's though. They aren't really on the radar anymore for me and I'm not sure I even care to hear this song, which I'm sure will not see much light of day on any radio.

In the last decade, they released a relaxing Southern-themed album ("I Don't Care That You Don't Mind"), an uptown New York club-esque pop/rock album heavy on wah-wah guitar and more production gloss ("Puss 'N Boots") and a mournful, acoustic collection of sermon-like songs ("Songs Of The Unforgiven"). I highly recommend the latter one especially, with the former also very decent. "Puss 'N Boots" is "Meh!" to me. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

In addition to "Mmm x4," I really enjoyed "Keep a Lid on Things," which my secondary Alternative station played frequently back in 1999.

Wow, far more knowledge about this band than I would've expected. I have the cassette single somewhere of Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm, their only charting hit. Surprised nobody mentioned that one yet.

One of my first favourite bands when I got into music in/around '94. I haven't heard any of their new stuff since I think 1999 or so but I do have a few of their songs in regular iPod rotation (mainly Afternoons & Coffeespoons, Keep A Lid On Things and Get You In The Morning). I should try to make an effort to hear this.

allaccess has this listed as going to AAA May 10th, so it should be moved to the correct forum. No mention of modern or active adds.

Me too....Who put the doggie in the dog house....lol, seriously bad lyrics that was just too fun to not like. You did, baby, you did. It had such a low-key, flat-out weird sound to it, too. You'd never guess "Mmm x4" and this one were done by the same band. Lyrically it kinda reminds me of that memorable scene in The Fugitive, where Tommy Lee Jones rattles off every type of "-house" he wants searched for Harrison Ford.

D'oh! That's what happens when I skim instead of read. I knew we couldn't go a whole page without mentioning their biggest hit.
