I'm wondering if peeps can post albums that took off after its 3rd single. The album has to be doing pretty well to even merit a 3rd single. But looking for examples of albums that skyrocketed after a 3rd single release.

It did pick up at least a little bit since IRTY was their first #1, though. "Drive" from Incubus was the third single from their album at the time, so that would definitely count. |

"Butterfly" by Crazy Town was a third single and I recently saw it on a list of the Top 10 one hit wonders of the 2000s.

Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory went huge with its fourth single, In The End. "Papercut" was never really released in the US and The band was pretty well known with their first 2 singles. I guess they blew up into a pop audience, but rock audiences and even some pop knew them very well as both singles went at least top 5 on both rock charts. |

"Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie. First single was something about London and then the second single had a rapper in it if I'm not mistaken. The album may have been successful before Big Girls but I think it was this song that cemented her as a solo artist.
Gwen Stefani - I'm drawing a blank but the song with the marching band in the video. That song was everywhere and was the first major digital single that I remember following the numbers on.

I think "Irreplaceable" helped stabilize flagging album sales of B'Day, but I can't remember for certain.

Hell, wasn't Fergalicious #1 on the Hot 100? The question was what 3rd single helped the album explode. That doesn't mean that it wasn't doing well before but that a certain song moved it to the next level. I agee about the Beyonce song. I don't know single number it was for that album though. |

Kid Rock's Rock and Roll Jesus - pretty sure All Summer Long was the third single. I'm pretty sure the album was doing OKAY to that point (maybe about ready to fall out of the Billboard 200's top 100 albums) but All Summer Long sent the album back to the top 10 for a good period of time.

I don't think a 3rd single can cause an album to explode if the 1st single hit #1. Well, I would add "if the 1st single hit #1 on CHR/POP", not HAC. Although a hit on CHR/POP doesn't necessary help the sales of an album. |

"pour some sugar on me" was the 3rd or 4th single off hysteria behind "woman","animal", and "hysteria" i know
"wake me up when september ends" was a 4th single
"rock star" by nickelback was huge as a 4th single
i think paparazzi and bad romance are bigger than just dance and poker face and def. lovegame
"Wanted Dead Or Alive" was a 3rd single
"
"Get to me" by train's my private nation helped sales as a 3rd single
theres tons...

People keep quoting single peaks but sometimes single peaks don't determine album sales. I find a lot of examples given also don't do justice to the title of the thread. Such as the American Idiot by Green Day example. That album was selling well immediately upon release. It didn't suddenly explode after the third single. I imagine the Guns 'N Roses examples as well were likely immediate sellers regardless of the success of the third singles.
