Well it is possible but it seems unlikely to me. The fact that First Time had such strong call out scores but still only managed to perform OK on CHR is proof that CHR is not interested in them right now. First Time had every reason to be a CHR hit if they were gonna get one, it was doing extremely well on Hot AC, digital sales were strong, and call out scores were strong, but still CHR radio decided not to stick with it. If with all that going for it CHR radio did not go with Lifehouse I find it hard to believe that if Whatever it Takes flops on CHR they would go out of their way looking for Broken. Lifehouse is not a big enough CHR artist for that at this point.

The thing is "First Time" was HUGE at many CHRs in more rock-oriented markets (esp. those without Hot ACs), but more pop/rhythmic CHRs didn't or barely touched it Another example I thought of was John Mayer's "Heavier Things" CD (still tryin to be optimistic) - CHR played "Bigger Than My Body", only HAC played "Clarity" and then briefly HAC tried "Come Back To Bed" and then finally CHR got on "Daughters" - but again I'm sure that CD had huge sales... BTW still haven't even heard "Whatever It Takes" - the "misrelease" of "Broken" messed up my personal chart though

It sorta reminds me of "Home" by Daughtry but WIT is a lot more catchy and has a better melody. But it's the same tempo and formula as "Home" (a song that I really don't like lol). You should check it out :)

I don't think WIT will flop at Hot AC, but I think it will be quick to rise and quick to fall, paving the way for a quicker release of Broken. I agree, however, that CHR won't be too kind to this track. For me, Lifehouse is a strange band. They're not the Rolling Stones, but they're not Nickelback either (and I'm sure you know my feelings on Nickelback by now). I would never rush to buy Lifehouse tickets (unless they were opening for a band I really liked), and I have never bought and will never buy any of their records. At the same time, I won't change the station when I hear them on the radio. I guess it just comes down to indifference. Judging by their record sales and track record at radio, I imagine I'm not alone here.

^I'll take all the credit/blame.
Still waiting to hear this. Radio 'round here is still saturated with First Time.

I'm thinkin "First Time" is prob. gonna be the most successful CHR hit this year that didn't break the Top 15 - tons of CHRs aren't lettin go of it at all (incl. Q100 ATL, where it was #1 for a while)

Wow this song is really taking off now. I think by the end of the week it'll already be in the top 30! They haven't even officially released the single yet.

Right now it's at #14...and "First Time" is still lingering around at #42!

This is doing better than I expected. I wonder if it'll be one of those songs that are added fast just because of the band's name then quickly fade (like the Goo Goo Dolls recent songs)

^"Better Days" and "Stay With You" had pretty lengthy chart runs, and "Let Love In" didn't fall that quickly
"Here Is Gone" went straight up CHR in '03 and then straight down (although HACs held on to it) - same with "Big Machine" (don't think CHR or HAC held on to that one)

"Stay With You" had a very short chart run for those guys...only 22 weeks on. And don't even get me started about "Before It's too Late".

^22 weeks IMO is def. not a short chart run..."Before It's Too Late" did fall quickly though (way too quickly!) - neither of them really "faded fast" though - BITL had a sudden drop and then a freefall, but I think it climbed the HAC chart for 15+ weeks, or close to that
Overall, this set of GGD hits had much more chart longevity (on HAC) than the ones from "Gutterflower", and the first three (the ones on the CD) as well as "Give A Little Bit" are all in recurrent rotation still...from "Gutterflower", "Sympathy" was added back into recurrent rotation on some more Modern ACs, and "Here Is Gone" stayed in recurrent rotation basically in the Southeast, but def. think this CD trumped the last in terms of GGD hit longevity

The reason that "Stay With You" seemed like a flop was because it flew up the charts and hit a brickwall at #5 and then fell from there. I remember it moving like 26-18-15. Which are some pretty big moves for Hot AC, especially back in early '06. It was still a pretty big hit on Hot AC, but I thought it would also do well on Pop, but it barely made the top 50. I'm glad that this is doing well, but it has to make the top 15 before I write them off as a one hit per album band.

35 25 LIFEHOUSE Whatever It Takes 2007 Geffen 495 316 179 1.757
This is actually the third hottest song on the chart right now which is really surprising because typically Lifehouse doesn't have 2 hits in a row. It's even doing pretty well on the pop chart too.

It looks like it'll be in the top 20 by the end of next week with the pace it's on right now.

Top 15 on Hot AC and I think Top 25 on Pop is good enough. This has a +290 bullet on CHR! Doesn't look like there's gonna be a prob there..."First Time" peaked in the high teens CHR so (without havin heard it still) I'm assumin this isn't gonna chart higher than that - don't think the teen-CHRs are touchin Lifehouse at all cause First Time is havin a really long CHR chart run while only peakin in the high teens

I'm not sure about the video yet. It feels like it's missing something. I know that it's missing the drummer and the bass guitarist, but even without that, it still feels like it's missing something. Maybe it's just because it's all in the same place.

Dang, it slowed down fast...the pace it's going on now looks like it'll barely crack the top 15.

It's still doing pretty good considering the time of year it is with some stations playing holiday music. Still 5th greatest gainer with "First Time" at #11 and not losing as many spins as it has been over the past several weeks. This will still probably make top 15 early next year.
