On the 3/28/1981 show there was a long distance dedication about learning CPR. He requested I can Help. I was expecting the requested song to be Stayin Alive. I recently saw an episode of the show Tyler Perry's The Oval where the paramedic told another guy to do the compressions to the song Stayin Alive. Doing a search I see that was also featured on the show the Office. Maybe that's where Tyler Perry got it from.
#22 was Precious to Me by Phil Seymour. I don't even remember that song. I know of every other song on the list.
1981 was a good year as was 1982

3.23.1974 Casey said that the song "Just Don't Want to Be Lonely" by the Main Ingredient was produced by Cuba Gooding. Could that be Cuba Gooding Jr's father? Casey said Harry Chapin's Song "WOLD" or as the cue sheet lists "W.O.L.D" The real station with those call letters got calls from around the world. Back then how would anyone around the world even know where that station is or how to contact it without a USA radio directory? Without the internet I wouldn't know. I just looked it up 95.1 WOLD, which calls Edison New Jersey home
The music presented on 95.1 WOLD spans from the early days of Rock & Roll and Doo Wop through the 80's with a specific focus on the music of the 60's and 70's. The music programming on 95.1 WOLD also includes special feature shows such as Breakfast With The Beatles, Nothing But Old 45s, Greatest Hits USA, American Standards By The Sea with broadcast veteran Dick Robinson and The Weekend with Ed Kalegi!
At #30 we have the first Long Distance Dedication. Jim Croce's "I'll Have To Say I Love You In a Song".
At #29 was "Star" by Stealer's Wheel At #28 was Ringo Starr
Charlie Rich, the Silver Fox, the Great White Soul Singer, and Casey also called him the Silver Bird, has two songs in the countdown. Wow.
There are two songs with only initials. WOLD or W.O.L.D and T.S.O.P. - by MFSB Is that the record?

Wikipedia: When original member Donald McPherson passed away from leukaemia in 1971, he was replaced by the elder Gooding, who had sung backup on their early records and filled in for McPherson while he underwent treatment. When the hits started coming, it was with Gooding. You might be correct on the initials-only songs... dL

4/1/1972 #40 King Heroin - James Brown. I wonder what the story behind that one is. Sounds like a PSA
#22 Give Ireland back to the Irish - Wings There were many political activists songs back then
And Casey even encouraged people to vote.
#21 Bang a Gong - Redone in 1985 by the Power Station #17 Roundabout -Yes I didn't know that made the top 40. I thought that was just an album cut.

In the 1980 show, Casey mentioned 3 different song titles had each been used in 4 different top 40 hits. Saturday Night, You, and Call Me. What about "Lady"?
Styx, Little River Band and Kenny Rogers hit the top 40 with different songs titled Lady.
Any one else hit the top 40 with a song called "Lady"?

What about "Lady"?
Styx, Little River Band and Kenny Rogers hit the top 40 with different songs titled Lady. Kenny Rogers' "Lady" came out near the end of 1980. There'd still only been 2 (that I know of) at that point. D'Angelo & Lenny Kravitz later had a top 40 hit each with the name "Lady" in 1996 & 2005 respectively. There's also "Lady (You Bring Me Up)" by the Commodores, tho idk if that counts with the parentheses.

Of note: Premiere has replaced Vicki Sue Robinson's "Turn The Beat Around" as the Hour #1 optional extra with, for some reason, "Theme From Mahogany". I know Diana Ross is still alive so it's not being played because she died. Are you sure they didn't mean Diana's next hit, "Love Hangover"? That would have made sense as it was at #41 on 4/17/76, and on its way to the top.

That would have made sense as it was at #41 on 4/17/76, and on its way to the top. That would've made more sense but it wasn't what I saw.

So it appears that "Mahogany" was indeed played as an optional extra in this week's 1976 show, after Premiere got creative with it.
Casey told a "where are they now" type story about songwriter Gerry Goffin, who co-wrote the theme from "Mahogany", and then led into a play of the song that never happened in any previous airing of the show.

True story: people in my high-school class (1978), being teenagers, thought the song's name was "...Mahagony," perhaps confusing it with "Mahagonny," a 1927 work by Brecht and Weill, of "Threepenny Opera / Mack the Knife" fame (which I doubt) dL

Meanwhile, on Rick Dees this weekend, they played 1989 for the third time in the last 7 weeks. (I know they only have five years to choose from, but they should be able to rotate better than that).
Or since Casey doesn't have a 1989 year with AT40, maybe they're just overcompensating for that 😛

I already have 1979 and 1983 from Archive.org with the extras. But I listen anyway. The 4/28/73 I have a partial but not by Casey, but by Rick Alan who put together a countdown of that week.
I discovered some non-Casey American Top 40 from before July 4 1970 created by Rick Alan, a DJ in Maine. He calls it Classic Top 40, uses Billboard and also the into and outgo music from Caseys' American Top 40. He has a show from 2/28/1970 where he does the top 40 compressed where he just plays 10 seconds of each song and the show is 22 minutes long.
I also found some America's Top 40 from 1959-1961 done by Jack Kavanagh Homan who uses Billboard's hot 100. It sounds like he is doing it contemporaneously, but he is not.. He also plays the new debuts on the Hot 100 for the week. He uses the singing numbers that Casey uses. And he does a long distance dedication.

In the intro to Cher's song "Take me Home" Casey says she has a daughter named Chasity. Are you sure about that Casey?
There is so much talk about diversity in today's entertainment. That popular group BTS, they all look alike. Even if I knew their names, I couldn't tell which was which.
Now look at the Village People. That is diversity. A black cop, a cowboy, an Indian, a construction worker, a GI and a biker. Disco is so much better than what is out in the last 20 years.
#6 - Stumblin In by Leather Tuscadero & Chris Norman. She was cute and could sing. She should have had the success that Olivia had.

Here is a prior repost: Two songs debuted this week: "Fascinated" - Company B (#39) "Just To See Her" - Smokey Robinson (#40) Two songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Ship Of Fools (Save Me From Tomorrow)" - World Party (#28) "Come Go With Me" - Expose (#32) Biggest Mover: "Head To Toe" - Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam (#40 to #29) Biggest Dropper: "Midnight Blue" - Lou Gramm (#12 to #37) Original extras: "Don't You (Forget About Me)" - Simple Minds Long Distance Dedications: "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" - Chicago Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Only In My Dreams" - Debbie Gibson (#93; debuted) Hour #2: "Point Of No Return" - Expose (#68; highest debut) Hour #3: "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" - Whitney Houston (NR) Hour #4: "Heart And Soul" - T'Pau (#71)

Now to recap the two '70s shows. The "A" show for this week is from 5/1/1971 (didn't Sirius XM already air this countdown last week?). It previously aired back in 2007! It hasn't been played in 16 years! Five songs debuted this week: "Sweet And Innocent" - Donny Osmond (#22) "Want Ads" - Honey Cone (#32) "Right On The Tip Of My Tongue" - Brenda & The Tabulations (#33) "The Battle Hymn Of Lt. Calley" - C Company featuring Terry Nelson (#37) "Brown Sugar" - The Rolling Stones (#40) Five songs fell off this week: "Proud Mary" - Ike & Tina Turner (#23) "Temptation Eyes" - Grass Roots (#28) "Oye Como Va" - Santana (#32) "What Is Life" - George Harrison (#33) "Blue Money" - Van Morrison (#38) Biggest Mover: "Love Her Madly" - The Doors (#37 to #19) Biggest Dropper: "For All We Know" - The Carpenters (#13 to #27) Original extras: "How High The Moon" - Les Paul & Mary Ford "I Don't Know How To Love Him" - Yvonne Elliman "Look For A Star" - Garry Miles "Good Lovin'" - The Rascals With the exception of "Look For A Star" (which is an optional extra), all are included in the broadcast. As an FYI, had Premiere gone with 4/24/1971 one of the original extras was Harry Belafonte's "Banana Boat (Day-O)". That would've been a fitting tribute given he died a week ago. Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "It Don't Come Easy" - Ringo Starr (#49; debuted) Hour #2: "Look For A Star" - Garry Miles Hour #3: "Me And My Arrow" - Nilsson (#43) The "B" show for this week is from 5/1/1976. Here is a prior repost: Five songs debuted this week: "Love In The Shadows" - Neil Sedaka (#34) "Love Really Hurts Without You" - Billy Ocean (#35) "I've Got A Feeling (We'll Be Seeing Each Other Again)" - Al Wilson (#37) "Hurt" - Elvis Presley (#38) "Anytime (I'll Be There)" - Paul Anka (#40) Five songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Dream On" - Aerosmith (#16) "Money Honey" - Bay City Rollers (#21) "Lorelei" - Styx (#27) "Fopp" - Ohio Players (#30) "Golden Years" - David Bowie (#31) Biggest Mover: "Love Hangover" - Diana Ross (#29 to #10) Biggest Dropper: "There's A Kind Of Hush (All Over The World)" - The Carpenters (#12 to #25) Original extras: "Blueberry Hill" - Fats Domino This song will be played as one of the optional extras Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "It's Now Or Never" - Elvis Presley (NR) Hour #2: "Takin' It To The Streets" - The Doobie Brothers (#48) Hour #3: "Blueberry Hill" - Fats Domino (original AT40 extra) Of note: The cue sheet info comes well in advance so it's possible Premiere might sub extras on both shows to honor Gordon Lightfoot who died yesterday (I remember Olivia Newton-John died on a Monday and Premiere altered the extras lineup for both '70s and '80s shows that weekend).
