Hopefully this will just die quietly, and not try to make a grand exit... just go off into the night and then hopefully the label has an outstanding second single and can salvage this era.

I hate it when songs just float around like this, just sink or swim.

This song is acting exactly like "dark side" sticking around #20 on CHR & 40's on Itunes. We all know how Dark Side ended, so hopefully they can turn this into a minor hit by pushing the song a little more. Xtina needs to at least have a song inside the top 20 by her album release. otherwise :X

This song is acting exactly like "dark side" sticking around #20 on CHR & 40's on Itunes. No. This shot up to that position and has only been there for a couple weeks. "Dark Side" painfully climbed to that position and stayed there for nearly two months. (It also reached the mid 30s on iTunes)

So, I wonder what they are going to do-just let it flop? Or shelve it? I would say they have a plan, but since their plan for this single was heave it out and do no promo at all maybe the plan is the same for the cd.

What kind of promo has Maroon 5 done since The Voice started? I'm just asking because I wonder if they really are just "too busy," or there's some weird clause in their contract that they can only perform on The Voice or something weird. I can't remember a lot of Maroon 5 promo this era, either--not that they've needed it.

^Yah, looks like Maroon 5 doesn't need it. There's no guarantee some performances would boost the performance of YB too much, but I guess it wouldn't hurt- or would it?

I can't remember a lot of Maroon 5 promo this era, either--not that they've needed it. They had a bigger start though. They premiered Payphone on the voice and that sent it to #1 on iTunes(iTunes seemed to really push for them. They had like 1000 banners for everything they did). Even OMN when it was first released went top ten. That was enough to give their career a second life. Christina's team doesn't seem to understand. On Maroon 5, I think they had Letterman performance and a live VEVO concert. MTV also aired their takeover if I remember correctly. They have sparingly made smart moves all around especially radio wise.

I believe that they performed all 3 of their singles from the new album on The Voice and they have a new perfomance scheduled for Nov.8 th for their new single.

M5 did perform on at least one or two late night shows in addition to The Voice in addition to having the video or promo spots air on multiple other stations and having ads like, everywhere. I guess what is strangest to me is her not even performing it on The Voice at all. That is specifically in their contracts and M5 have used The Voice (both here and in the UK) for all that contract is worth. They have another upcoming performance too. It just feels like there is something bizarre going on when your contract specifically notes that you are guaranteed performance slots and promo through The Voice in multiple countries and you don't use that at all except to show a 10 second clip of the video, basically.

"MTV also aired their takeover" Do you mean Fuse? I can't remember the last time MTV dedicated more than five minutes to music.

She probably will perform on The Voice- but, during album release week- doesn't that make more sense, since she'd want to push the album?

If there was some sort of contractual obligation, you'd think her team would have negotiated something when she signed on for this season. Being that how this song has been in the can for more than a year, they had to have at least some idea of when she would release it, and that being the case, made some power moves to allow her to promote it.
Also, as I've said before, I sincerely doubt Christina herself is just being lazy - she's a showboat and loves performing.

She probably will perform on The Voice- but, during album release week- doesn't that make more sense, since she'd want to push the album? I think what would make more sense is following M5's footsteps-heavy promo right away that included a splashy Voice performance to premiere the song, a million ads and banners, a heavy commercial/video presence on other stations, etc. That led to the SONG being a big hit which, in turn, promoted the cd. They didn't sit around for a few months doing nothing while watching the song languish and then decide to do something the week their album came out lol. Voice will promote the cd heavily the week it comes out anyway so they planned their main promo into developing the song into a smash and that definitely worked. It also helps that I think M5 had less of a comeback to make-less weird animosity and they were coming right off MLJ being HUGE. More momentum and less polarizing made it a bit easier.
