She pretty much gained back the spins she lost yesterday. :/ It's been like that for a week: gain spins one day, lose almost the same amount next day, gain the same amount the next one, etc... it's getting frustrating

It will take a miracle for any second single to make any impact now. They completely blew it by releasing this song during such a strong release period.
What are her plans now? Release the album as scheduled and let it completely flop? A performance or two won't help. What she needs/needed was a smash 1st single. All the performances and appearances in the world won't help (See: Bionic era).

Why would the public "hate" her, though, when NMT was out? She has never done anything remotely out there that would serve as a "career killer." Especially leading up to that release.
As for the UK- it hasn't even been released digitally yet? Why wait so long? It's been at radio for weeks, so that current airplay ranking isn't so hot.

Digital releases usually precede album releases by a good amount of weeks, so I'm surprised it hasn't been released digitally in the UK, especially with the worldwide availability.

That's how the UK works. Put it on radio, wait at least a month before putting on iTunes so it hopefully has lots of airplay by that point, to get more sales.

Each day this stays around 3800 spins is a good thing for her! Hold on to the radio play as long as possible to the album release. Once it gets a few -100 spin days its time for single 2.

Enters the top 100 in overall airplay today at #97 in the UK. Also #31 in TV play. It looks like it could be heading for the top 10 here. I'm sure she'll get a slot on UK X-factor too, so I can see this album doing miles better than Bionic here! :)

When you have widespread, let's say "personality/image" issues, perhaps it's not best to release a video where you play an über tacky serial killer who really really seems to enjoy murdering innocent guys just for sport... It doesn't matter if it's tongue-in-cheek - people don't get that sort of thing these days... Yeah, can't believe most guys aren't all over this... I don't think that the video had much negative on male listeners. 99% of them were already chased off with the pretty & pink album cover ;). So pressed that this has already peaked.  This song is probably one of the strongest debut singles I've heard by a pop star all year. (I find Madonna's, Ke$ha's, P!nk's, and Rihanna's to be a little underwhelming). |
