^For her, I think ballads are more effective in showcasing the voice (and it's that way with other big-voiced singers, too). But even then, there always will be people who think she's "screaming," even if the vocals are good. I like the more subdued vocals (for the most part), i.e. "Beautiful" and "Hurt."

That was a good performance for Xtina. She sounds like the recording, which is good. It seems like she's slowly recovering from her vocal depression (think Bionic-era performance, MLJ performances) where she struggled even when she wasn't belting. ^For her, I think ballads are more effective in showcasing the voice (and it's that way with other big-voiced singers, too). But even then, there always will be people who think she's "screaming," even if the vocals are good. I like the more subdued vocals (for the most part), i.e. "Beautiful" and "Hurt." By the way, great Billboard interview! I've always had a soft spot for her, and the interview made me like her more.
