Billboard prediction 9/29/2012 so far...
Here's a prediction of the Billboard chart. It's made with the iTunes data and airplay data. I tried the prediction on three weeks and only had 2 small mistakes in the top 10 in all the 3 weeks.
# / artist / song / total points this week / how much extra or less points did todays update had than yesterday
1. Taylor Swift - We Are Never Getting Back Together: 492.37 (+ 1.91) 2. Maroon 5 - One More Night: 426.84 (+ 2.54) 3. P!nk - Blow Me (One Last Kiss): 391.32 (- 1.47) 4. Fun. - Some Nights: 357.87 (+ 7.40) 5. Flo Rida - Whistle: 350.72 (+ 17.31)[/b][/color] 6. Ellie Goulding - Lights: 349.01 (+ 0.99) 7. Neon Trees - Everybody Talks: 339.12 (- 0.81) 8. Justin Bieber - As Long As You Love Me: 331.69 (+ 1.22) 9. Katy Perry - Wide Awake: 314.10 (+ 0.96) 10. Kayne West Jay-Z & Big Sean - Clique: 308.44 (- 15.05) 11. Alex Clare - Too Close: 301.52 (+ 0.51) 12. Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen - Good Time: 290.70 (+ 0.83) 13. Demi Lovato - Give Your Heart A Break: 278.39 (+ 0.01) 14. Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe: 376.32 (- 0.87) 15. David Guetta ft. Sia - Titanium: 263.92 (+ 0.51) 16. Maroon 5 ft. Wiz Khalifa - Payphone: 250.96 (+ 0.77) 17. Bubbling Under
Usher - Numb: 19.80 (+ 0.88) Christina Aguilera - Your Body: 9.11 (+ 7.71)
Highlights: - Here Taylor is #1, but because we can't track streaming, so it's unknown if she's really ahead of Maroon 5 this week. - After free-falling, Whistle is rising very fast again and is moving back towards it's position 2 weeks ago. - PSY is rising extremely fast and is the highest rising K-pop song ever in American history!

3. P!nk - Blow Me (One Last Kiss): 104.52 (- 1.47) How is it #3? A mistake in the points, It's 391.32! It rose a lot on Thursday and Friday but now is dropping again. I'm almost sure that Some Night will be #3 by the end of the week, and not P!nk.

Glad to see Taylor picking back up in airplay a bit. I'd be happy with a top 3 airplay peak.
Maroon 5 will almost surely be #1 this week due to Taylor not being available on streaming (ugh). I'm hoping WANEGBT can hang around the top 5 until close to the album release.

LOL @ that being over half her entire discography. And Taylor will chart another 10+ songs when her album comes out. Not necessarily. With airplay being a bigger factor now and those songs not getting any streaming, they'll need more sales to chart than they did before. She'll have a few chart but I don't know if she can muster up 10 or more singles.

A few years back, a Korean friend asked what it would take for a K-Pop artist to have a hit in the US. I told him that given the nature of audiences there, it would have to be a novelty song. Of course, in the Korean context it's not exactly a novelty song, though it is meant to be humorous. (I'm not sure I'm buying the "scathing parody of the Gangnam lifestyle" angle, though.) But for most US listeners who wouldn't know Gangnam from Vietnam, it probably just comes across as an Asian guy doing a funny dance. That said, it is still a step forward from when Kyu Sakamoto's ballad "I'll Look Up As I Walk (So the Tears Don't Fall)" was released stateside under the name "Sukiyaki." "Sukiyaki," although misnamed, was at least a pretty ballad ably sung, this is just technodance pop bullcrap. In my opinion of course.

I think "Sukiyaki" was a better song, although I don't mind GNS. It's more about how offensive it was to name it after beef stew (rather than, say, translating the title) because that's what people associated with Japan. It'd be like releasing a sad Mexican ballad as "Burritos."
If the streaming rules succeed in preventing those weeks when every Glee song or every new Taylor Swift song charted, then all will be forgiven. Seriously, where were they when "Party Rock Anthem" kept clinging to the bottom of the Top 50?
