The ratio digital x airplay is 0.6 x 1.0.

KANYE WEST – Clique f/Big Sean & JAY-Z: 32.076 (+ 1.033) Smash! Go Kanye. ALICIA KEYS – Girl On Fire: 18.003 (+ 0.305) Going for adds at Pop on Oct 8, hopefully better increases by then. It was actually the 9th, but got pushed back to 16th. Idk why.

^Ha I mean, the number Billboard divides airplay and sales numbers by; i.e. if a track had 100 million audience, it divided that number by 10,000; if a track sold 100,000, it divided that by 10. if the formula's been redone, those numbers would be different now.

This? 2012 Formula
Assumed Formula 1 Hot 100 point for 1k digital sales. 1.5 Hot 100 points for 1M AI. 1 Hot 100 point for 50k passive streams. 1 Hot 100 point for 25k on-demand streams.

^I never looked at it that way; I just imply used the dividers that Billboard said it used.
Looking at that formula, though- on-demand points given more chart power than free streaming, yes?

Yeah, they mentioned that on demand streaming counts for double what passive streaming does. That makes sense since it's something a person specifically wants to listen to vs. something randomly chosen for them.

Oh, yes- I looked at the formula and was thinking something else. D'oh. :)
Free streaming isn't necessarily something randomly chosen, though. You still click on something and stream it in a lot of cases. (i.e. at Yahoo Music).

I would think that is on demand, then. There are probably ads every couple songs for that, right? Versus paying monthly and no ads.

It's not free streaming that is counted as .5 of on-demand. There are free on-demand streaming sites. In fact, in the US, Spotify is on-demand and free. You just have ads. The streaming that is counted as .5 of on-demand are those like on Pandora or Last.fm radio. Streams that aren't controlled by the listener. Yahoo! Radio and AOL Radio are sites like those.

Ke$ha is gonna debut pretty high come Thursday. Though I'm not here for the song, it's nice to see radio has missed her presence :)

One Direction now #1 on iTunes. It will probably be very high on the 10/20/12 chart.

I think a Top 10 debut for Ke$ha is pretty much a given at this point. I see Rihanna starting out in the 15-20 range.

Keep in mind that the airplay for "Die Young" will see a negative with Wednesday's update, as the track had a day of airplay in the last chart's tracking period. So, if it gains 5m or so, the negative would be more than 8 million.
Nonetheless, a great debut will occur. Did it go to on-demand sites right away?

I believe it did last Wednesday (the day after) which is also the beginning of the tracking week for streaming as well correct?

I believe regular streaming tracking period was Monday-Sunday; not sure if the on-demand tracking period is the same.

I don't know why the record company has different tracking periods for everything. I wish billboard would fix this issue so apples can be compared to apples...

As noted before, the audience-based airplay charts are Wed.-Tues. so Billboard can incorporate the most up-to-the-minute info for airplay; with sales, it takes longer to gather the information. Probably why sales at concert venues also run on a different cycle than the regular Monday-Sunday period.

^ From what Holidayguy is saying, the sales information isn't turned over quick enough for that schedule. So Billboard's publication would be delayed.
