Also keep in mind that the game of executive musical chairs, on Sony's end, wasn't officially settled until July. So likely, they also did not want to start the era until all that was taken care of. It would have sucked if Stronger ended up suffering because of the old executives being apathetic on their way out the door and then the new executives not seeing it as worth the effort to revive what they deem an 'old' album. (I certainly felt that at least part of the reason Avril's album that year floundered was because it got caught up in the end of the label transition.) When I think of how happy Kelly seems to be with the guys there now I'm all the more grateful for the wait.

Kelly recorded Mr. Know It All while she was waiting so it would not have been the first single if it was released in June. The first single likely would have been I Forgive You or Let Me Down, both songs that fit in well for the Summer.

That's still the smallest point she made. The album was delayed so that the new team would handle the project from start to finish. That was a smart, and I'd even say necessary, wait, no matter what the first single was going to be (and we have no idea what that would be--the only song that she's mentioned also being in consideration for the first single was "Stronger").

And maybe the time MKIA was recorded was confirmed and I just missed it, but I got the impression it was done by the June at the very latest b/c she said when people were coming up to her and saying "Oh, I love your new single!" (referring to LMD's leak in July) she would respond"...that's not my lead single but I'm glad you like it." I know it was the last song recorded but it could have been finished in the spring. I don't feel like digging through that monster of a previous thread to look up recording/ leak timelines since it wasn't my main point anyway.

Nothing was ever confirmed that LMD was gonna be the 1st single. Is was an XTina fan that recorded a low quality clip saying it would be. Then it leaked in full in late June or early July. Then everything else came. Something about a promo disc RCA (before the new leaders) sent out, but later decided it would be best to wait til later on in the year. The only thing ever confirmed was that Kelly said something about releasing the 1st single in like March in a tweet. MKIA must've been recorded some time between April and the release presumably.

Pleasant, pretty, she sounds like a country singer and I'm glad it is essentially just her. It's a sweet song and has a nice message that I'm not used to from her. Part of me feels like it could have been sung by anyone, but Kelly sounds exceptional. I like it a lot.

Together Again mashed with Islands in the stream... I really like the song, the melody is stuck in my mind after two listens... the key change is odd but I'll get used to it I'm sure... I think I like this even more than CMB.
