I'm not even going to lie, I didn't catch on to So Gone when it was first released, but I instantly got hooked on to Knock Knock tho. Me neither. "So Gone" threw me off when I first heard it, but it grew on me quickly. |

I loved So Gone (and that HOT remix) and Knock Knock instantly. I feel like her best album was ATS followed by her debut.

"Here I Am" should have been push harder as a single and "Stay or Go" should have been a single. I will never quite understand why that era was cut short (even though I heard about budget being the reason) but there shouldn't be any harm with just radio singles to try to move more album units.

She should take a lil bit longer break.... get her head right, step back, and pay attention to the music scene. She gonna be just another card in the shuffle if she continues down her same route.

Yeah I'd love to see Monica step outside her comfort zone a bit. Play with some different sounds, not necessarily delve into pop but experiment with her R&B. I'm over her JD/B. Cox midtempos and even her Missy-produced tracks haven't wowed me as of late.

Cox midtempos and even her Missy-produced tracks haven't wowed me as of late. I agree. Jermaine, B.Cox, Missy, and Rico Love all need to be kicked to the curb. I don't think she needs a drastic change of sound because she does quite well in the lane she's in, but she needs to get some fresh producers to update that sound. |

That's about a year and a half between albums. It would be her smallest gap between albums ever. She could turn around and put out rushed crap in February (with less than a year between albums), and it would flop. She wouldn't be doing herself any favors. |

Monica's last genuinely uptempo hit was "The First Night," and she led two of her last 3 albums off with underperforming uptempo singles. I'm not surprised we rarely get uptempo singles from her at this point. |

Uptempo isn't where she needs to go, IMO. If she wants success, she needs something where she is singing because it is quite tricky to satisfied all audiences with one single these days. Ballads don't get played like before, unfortunately. I could see her working with David Guetta or Calvin Harris. She could go the live instruments route also.
Rico is becoming stale. He is being overused and he needs time to update his sound.

"Mirror" from SS was my jam. That may be more mid tempo, but it was still single material in my opinion. I would love more of that from her instead of mostly ballads.
