No label is really doing R&B right except for Columbia and that's mainly because they give artist free reign for the most part. She is 36, married to an NBA player, and friends and family with some of the best in the business. She'll be alright going indie unlike others in her situation. I don't see Monica begging Chris Brown for a feature anytime soon.

My worry is that her music output has been subpar and uninspired at best since 2010 and yet she's had millions of dollars in resources behind her. If she does indie her material will only get more bland with even LESS promotion.

I would wait it out to see where R&B music for people like her is going in the next few years. Right now, it's not looking good at all, but who knows what can happen. And I actually want her to take her time and make a good album. These last two albums were awfully boring. |

NL sucked but CR was my shit and could've done decently had RCA even tried.
But I'm all here for a hip-hop soul renaissance project from her; JRFM to the next level. She can save the Phyllis and Anita type shxt for her actual 40s.

I think she did really well on The Real. She was super relatable, and her personality shined. I'd much rather see her focus on other endeavors than continue a music career that she really isn't 100% committed to.
