I'm still pressed "Knock Knock" flopped. Her best song hands down. #Justice4KK Ugh, do not remind me. I remembered first hearing it while I was playing video games in my room. That switch up though, ugh. I still don't understand how it didn't knock. Ugh. |

Her 2003 single “So Gone” has seen a massive surge in popularity due to the #SoGoneChallenge this past week. The challenge calls for an individual to rap or sing their own lyrics over the Missy Elliott-produced instrumental version of the song. On August 10, Chance The Rapper decided to join in on the hashtag by tweeting his videotaped rendition of a 16-bar verse dedicated to his girlfriend. According to Twitter, his participation has helped to spark over 2 million Twitter users to either take part in the challenge or mention it in their tweets. His video has since received over 240,000 retweets and stands as the highest number of interactions that his account has seen. Monica (in a video featuring Missy Elliott) took part in the challenge as well, and rapped, “Now I’m making racks while they’re rapping on my old tracks.” Apple Music confirmed that streams for “So Gone” have increased by 233% and sales have gone up 407% since August 10. “It’s amazing what can happen when Chance gets involved,” a representative said. Spotify noted that streams for the single have more than doubled with a 129% increase on their platform. According to YouTube, the “So Gone” music video currently sits at 2.8 million views and has shot up 309% compared to the three days before the challenge; the MonicaVEVO channel has seen a 15.5% increase in viewership. The channel’s videos has accumulated over 150 million total views, with Chance The Rapper’s hometown of Chicago ranked as No. 4 in her most popular cities list. Chance was only 10 years old at the time “So Gone” was officially released under J Records. We know for a fact her and Missy have been in the studio so it's a great time to drop something for either project with Chance as a featured artist. He has a strong social media following behind him and they can all capitalize on this opportunity.

I think "Knock Knock" was too similar to "So Gone" which is why it didn't do so well at the time. I think it would've been better to push S/Get It Off as second for an uptempo and then KK third. I'm still glad "U Should've Known Better" was a hit though.
