PSY might feel like #1, but at least it's at #2. Billboard can't keep altering their rules for how a song feels. I think the Hot 100 is best at representing the biggest song in the nation since I've been following the charts. It has a lot to do with the amount of information they have access to.

Week Ending Nov. 4, 2012. Songs: The Power Of “The Voice”By Paul Grein | Chart Watch – 3 hours ago Less than a week after Blake Shelton walked off with three awards at the Country Music Assn. Awards (including Entertainer of the Year), his fellow judge on The Voice, Adam Levine, has something to crow about: Maroon 5's "One More Night" logs its eighth week at #1 on the Hot 100. It's the longest-running #1 hit of the year by an American artist. Maroon 5 has had three blockbuster hits since the show debuted on NBC in April 2011: "Moves Like Jagger" (featuring fellow judge Christina Aguilera), "Payphone" (featuring Wiz Khalifa) and now "One More Night." The three songs have sold a combined total of 12,707,000 digital copies in the U.S. Shelton has had four #1 hits on the Hot Country Songs chart since the show's debut: "Honey Bee," "God Gave Me You," "Drink On It" and "Over." He had amassed eight #1 country hits before the show started, though the show has expanded his fame beyond just country fans. He landed his first #1 album on The Billboard 200, Red River Blue, three months after the show's launch. In addition to her featured role on "Moves Like Jagger," Aguilera has a current Hot 100 single, "Your Body." The song has climbed as high as #34. The fourth judge, Cee Lo Green, has had the least obvious benefit from the show. His mega-hit "F**k You!" had sold 4,181,000 copies before the show debuted (and has since sold an additional 1,682,000 copies). But he hasn't had a big hit since then. His Christmas album, Cee Lo's Magic Moment, enters The Billboard 200 this week at a not-so-magical #67. The only other songs (besides "One More Night") to spend eight or more weeks at #1 so far this year are Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" (which had nine weeks on top) and "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye featuring Kimbra (also eight weeks). Jepsen is from Canada. Gotye was born in Belgium and raised in Australia. Kimbra is from New Zealand. PSY's "Gangnam Style" holds at #2 for the seventh straight week. This marks the first time that the same two records were #1 and #2 for seven weeks since late last year, when "We Found Love" by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris and LMFAO's "Sexy And I Know It" were locked into those spots for seven straight weeks. (The two songs then switched positions, allowing LMFAO to log two weeks at #1, before Rihanna and Harris reclaimed the top spot for two more weeks.) .fun's "Some Nights" holds at #3 for the sixth non-consecutive week. The New York based group performed the song (and its new single "Carry On") on Saturday Night Live on Nov. 3. "Some Nights" and Flo Rida's former #1 hit "Whistle" both top the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. These are the second 3-million-sellers of 2012 for both acts. .fun's "We Are Young" (featuring Janelle Monae) has sold 5,731,000 copies so far this year. Flo Rida's "Wild Ones" (featuring Sia) has sold 3,350,000 copies so far this year. fun and Flo Rida are the only acts with two or more 3-million-selling songs so far in 2012. This brings the number of 3 million-sellers so far in 2012 to 12. There were 14 in all of 2011; 12 in all of 2010. Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" rebounds from #11 to #5 in its 13th week. This is its 11th week in the top 10. Only two of Swift's many hits have logged more weeks in the top 10: "You Belong With Me" (16 weeks) and "Love Story" (13). The smash holds at #1 on Hot Country Songs for the fifth week. Here's the low-down on this week's top 10 songs. The Top Five: Maroon 5's "One More Night" holds at #1 for the eighth week in its 20th week on the chart. This is its 12th week in the top 10. Nicki Minaj has three songs zooming up this week's chart. Alicia Keys' "Girl On Fire" (on which she is featured) jumps from #28 to #22 in its ninth week. Digital sales rank: #8 (94K). Justin Bieber's "Beauty And A Beat" (on which she is also featured) jumps from #70 to #54 in its fourth week. Her own "Va Va Voom" vaults from #98 to #69 in its third week. Hunter Hayes' "Wanted" jumps from #41 to #23 in its 28th week. The song has already climbed as high as #16. Hayes won the CMA Award for New Artist of the Year. The 21-year old is the youngest male solo artist ever to win that prize. He wrestled the title away from Bryan White, who was 22 when he won in 1996. Kendrick Lamar's "Swimming Pools (Drank)" jumps from #32 to #25 in its 12th week…Lee Brice's "Hard To Love" jumps from #35 to #27 in its 21st week. Luke Bryan lands his fourth consecutive top 30 hit as "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" jumps from #40 to #29 in its 11th week. It follows "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)" (#22), "I Don't Want This Night To End" (#22) and "Drunk On You" (#16)…Miranda Lambert's "Fastest Girl In Town" jumps from #56 to #47 in its 15th week…The Band Perry's "Better Dig Two" is the week's top new entry at #53. The sibling trio's "If I Die Young" reached #14. Three Taylor Swift songs re-enter the chart after being bumped off the chart last week because fans opted to use iTunes' "Complete Your Album" option. "I Knew You Were Trouble." re-enters at #59, "Begin Again" begins again at #68 and "Red" re-enters at #89. All three songs have cracked the top 10. "I Knew You Were Trouble." reached #3, "Begin Again" hit #7 and "Red" has climbed as high as #6…Brad Paisley's "Southern Comfort Zone" jumps from #87 to #71 in its fifth week. "F*ckin' Problems" by ASAP Rocky featuring Drake, 2 Chainz, Kendrick Lamar is the week's second highest new entry (not counting re-entries) at #73. (Regarding the title, Cee-Lo and P!nk, see what you started?) P!nk's "Try" re-enters at #93. The song has already climbed as high as #56…Chris Brown's "Don't Judge Me" debuts at #95. It's from Fortune, which has spawned two top 10 hits, "Turn Up The Music" and "Don't Wake Me Up."…The Weeknd's debut single "Wicked Games" opens at #96. "Don't Rush" by Kelly Clarkson featuring Vince Gill debuts at #97. It's from Clarkson's Greatest Hits, Chapter One, which is due Nov. 16. The two stars introduced the song on the CMA Awards. This is the third time that Clarkson has made the chart with a collabo with a big country star. She teamed with Reba McEntire for a remake of "Because Of You" (#50 in 2007) and with Jason Aldean on "Don't You Wanna Stay" (#31 in 2011). This is the second time that Gill has made the chart with a collabo with a pop star. He teamed with Amy Grant on "House Of Love" (#37 in 1995). The latter pairing went so well that Gill and Grant were married in 2000. Gill first cracked the Hot 100 in May 1980 as a member of Pure Prairie League. That group's "Let Me Love You Tonight" went top 10. Thompson Square's "If I Didn't Have You" debuts at #98. The duo's "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not" reached #32. Thompson Square was named Vocal Duo of the Year at the CMA Awards, breaking Sugarland's five-year lock on the award. Dierks Bentley's "Tip It On Back" debuts at #99. It's from his former top 10 album Home. "Ni**as In Paris" by Jay-Z/Kanye West tops the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. It's one of three songs on Nielsen SoundScan's running list of the 200 best-selling songs in digital history that uses an asterisk to mask a naughty title. The others are Cee Lo Green's aforementioned "F**k You!" (5,863,000) and P!nk's "Fu**in' Perfect" (2,862,000). This doesn't count songs that have an X-rated version but were listed on the charts with their clean versions. Among them: "Sexy Chick" by David Guetta featuring Akon (3,371,000) and "Tonight I'm Loving You" by Enrique Iglesias featuring Ludacris & DJ Frank E (3,109,000). "No Hands" by Waka Flocka Flame featuring Roscoe Dash and Wale also tops the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. The song reached #13 on the Hot 100 and #2 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in 2010. Miranda Lambert's "Over You" tops the 1 million mark in digital sales, a week after being named Song of the Year at the CMA Awards. It's Lambert's fourth million-seller, following "The House That Built Me" (1,709,000), "Gunpowder And Lead" (1,655,000) and "White Liar" (1,138,000). How does this compare with her husband, Blake Shelton? He's had just two million-sellers, but they've both outsold Lambert's biggest hits: "Honey Bee" (2,131,000) and "God Gave Me You" (1,876,000). "No Lie" by 2 Chainz featuring Drake tops the 1 million mark in digital sales this week. It's 2 Chainz' first million-seller as a lead artist. music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/week-ending-nov-4-2012-songs-power-voice-222837557.html

Who would have thought "One More Night" would be the longest running No. 1 of 2012?

Radio has really sabotaged his rightful #1. I have only heard "One More Night" ONCE at a s**tty club, and that's it. It does not feel like a huge #1 single at all.....but according to Billboard it is. That shows you the formula is wrong in some way. The formula is ALWAYS wrong when your favorite song doesn't hit a peak position. Please. BTW - One thing you are ignoring is the fact that ONM is the 2nd single off an album that has sold very well. How many albums has PSY sold? That would be ZERO. As a standalone single, it has a huge advantage.

Because one person thinks it doesn't feel like a #1 song? This song is breaking spin records. People are hearing it all the time. But won't remember it in about 5 months. There are a lot of #1 songs that people stopped remembering five months afterward. Wear it out and then throw it away. That's how pop functions. ONM's eight-week run is mostly owed to the new formula which allows its airplay to dominate, but this is the time of year when we typically get those multi-week smashes that seemingly never die.

How many albums has PSY sold? That would be ZERO. He sold zero copies? That sounds strange to me unless the album isn't available to be purchased. Besides, what do album sales have to do directly with single sales?

Besides, what do album sales have to do directly with single sales? People who own an album have zero reason to purchase an individual track from that same album.

Except for early super stans before Billboard changed their rules. I remember buying Confessions on a Dancefloor and buying Hung Up like 20 times.
