I agree with the R&B route. Maybe a few songs on the album in the same lane as the new Tinashe single "2 On" and the stuff from Jhene Aiko's album. I think that would really put her back on.

This was one of my faves from The High Road and one of my fave non-single Diane Warren ballads. (there are so many though, it's ridiculous!) Exceptional seemed like such a no-brainer for AC play, but I guess Blackground wanted to avoid pigeon-holing her there at such a young age.

Anyway, Diane has still churned out great songs recently (Cher's "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" comes to mind) but she's been given such a cold shoulder. I'd love to see a DW resurgence and maybe JoJo can do it! (or at the very least, some good non-single filler)

I'm rooting for her and have been patiently waiting for a "freedom" album, but seeing the names of some of her collaborators is hardly making me excited. This is a pivotal moment that can either make or break her as an industry fixture. I just hope this chance isn't messed up.

From what I know, she's worked with a lot of fairly new, up-and-coming producers, which I'm fine with. Most of the songs on "Agápē," for example, were created with her producer friends by setting up pro tools and a mic in her condo. Even the production on "#LoveJo" was impressive and rather unexpected from Da Internz, who are known for repetitive hip hop beats (though I guess they already had a template since all the songs were covers).

With all the buzz and acclaim she received from her free mixtapes and EPs, she definitely needs to take her time and ensure that her physical ALBUM is nothing less than stellar. Plus she wants to be an R&B artist and she's never been pushed to the Urban radio formats so her first single will be key. There's enough awesome voices with bum music out here dropping like flies; JoJo needs and deserves a win.

True. I'm just impatient as hell. Her EP earlier this year was nothing short of spectacular and she recorded that on a whim. It's been over 8 years so a few more months isn't so bad and I know the first single is gonna be HOT. I still bop to "In The Dark".
