Wow...anything with any reference that could be remotely connected to flying, sky, earthquakes, and Islam was blacklisted. I was 11 so I didn't remember noticing this, so I'm quite surprised at some. People are just in their overreactions sometimes. "Fly Away", "Walk Like An Egyptian", "Ironic" ... seriously? Walk Like an Egyptian mentions the Middle East in passing..

The connection to Die Young is not ridiculous...20 children died young...the song is called Die Young. What more does one need to understand. I, as most on Pulse understand Kesha is not talking about children...and understand that some of us may not want to hear die young being repeated. By that logic, we should waste no time banning "E.T. (Futuristic Lover)", "Give Me Everything" and "Tonight (I'm F***in' You)", to name a few, from the airwaves too: because they at least suggest rape fantasies (if not outright endorse them). So next time there is breaking news in your municipality with regard to rape or sexual assault, I trust you'll join others in banning all three of those songs from the airwaves, among others, because many in your community don't want to hear lyrics like "Want to be your victim!" or "Grab someone sexy and tell them "Hey, give me everything tonight!" or "Excuse me, I don't mean to be rude, but tonight I'm (bleep)ing you!"........among others about rape or attempted rape fantasies, yes? Namaste, Noah Hibiscus Eaton WHATEVER...so done with this. It's useless at this point.

Whatever the reason maybe that 'Die Young' is bombing right now, I'm glad that it is in fact dying. Radio needs to move onto a better Ke$ha song, (i.e. 'C'Mon', 'Thinking of You', 'Crazy Kids', etc.).

I understand why radio is limiting the play of the song and respect it however...I think its ridiculous....People are saying things like "they don't want to be reminded" umm HELLO! everyone is talking about it at the "water cooler" and its being brodcasted on every news channel!!!!! I mean they are airing clips of funerals, parents and friends talking...that is WAY more of a bigger deal then a Pop song. I find this a bigger issue in America then any other country (when it comes to tragic events). When I have been in other countries and tragic things happen I never really see any severe changes to shows, radio play, etc.
I was disgusted when I saw a father of a child talking on the news, a day after the shooting...All i wanted to do was crawl in bed and not play the news for I know a friend of one of the families.
I think radio is assuming people are very sensitive about this horrible event and are covering their own asses, especially if some call in and complain if they hear it on the radio (MORE than likely someone is the "older" area hear die young and thing-" thats horrible") and doesn't even think to hear what the song is.
Many rap songs and even pop songs with horrible lyrics are promoted and aired non stop and people don't mind, but after a tragic event everyone all of a sudden cares....Its just so funny to read these comments some time.
Its sad but people are not as sensitive about this stuff as maybe they once were, as a society we have become desensitized by many things due to the media and the amount of horrific things people watch nowadays (wow..i feel old) and to think that playing a song will be disrespectful or will remind the families...
Trust me...Ke$ha's music is not going to be the thing that reminds the families...who are the only people that radio should be worried about...yet they are talking about it and chatting about it on the radio...but god forbid they play a pop song....
My point is...there is no way the families or friends are NOT going to be reminded....its a horrible event and its stupid to assume that a pop song is going to affect them as much as being alive right now themselves.
It's just crazy when I read all this stuff...I find this reaction is a American thing (no offence AT ALLL) and I just don't really understand the way they react to things.
I mean only in America could you see a tragic shooting happen and gun sales RISE....huh? PLEASE help people from other countries understand this....and radio is worried about....a girl who wants to wake up and feel like Pdiddy???
Walmart isn't shutting down their sales of kids clothing? and I agree with Noah on the songs and that alot of them can be related to tragic things that happen everyday.
Again I feel for the families and if more than anything...Now is the time when we need songs like this to help inspire and to help us remember to not take life for granted... I mean...Would they be killing one of the biggest songs of 2012 if it was on the air "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"....That would be stupid because the word "kill" especially if we all remember hearing how cancer patients use that song for inspiration..
Media again takes control over society...amazing

So I noticed that when you search for "All I Want For Christmas Is You" on youtube, the first video that shows is a fan version of the official video. The VEVO one is below that. In the past 1-2 days the fan version has over 1 million views, while the VEVO version (i.e. the one counting toward the Hot 100) has about 450,000 views. That fan video is sucking a lot of chart points from "AIWFCIY." Report that ish.

"Die Young" has lyrics that way more quickly to bring to mind this particular tragedy than "Girl On Fire". "Girl On Fire" would have most likely been blacklisted after September 11 because the WTC was literally on fire and people were burning alive, but not after a shooting. Clear Channel is just being conscious of the fact that people may hear lyrics like "we're gonna die young," get offended or upset in light of recent events, and change the station. No, the song is not about children dying, but the phrase "die young" would rub a lot of people the wrong way less than a week after 20 kindergarteners were gunned down. Not 100% true. "Locked out of Heaven" is pulling a "Fallin'"

Billboard.com:
Over on the Digital Songs chart, Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven" holds at No. 1 for a second week, selling 222,000 (up 13%). Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble" rallies 5-2 with 167,000 (up 29%), the Lumineers' "Ho Hey" rises 4-3 with 131,000 (down less than 1%) and Rihanna's "Diamonds" dips 2-4 with 121,000 (down 15%).
will.i.am's "Scream & Shout" (featuring Britney Spears) falls 3-5 with 120,000 (down 15%) while "The Voice" winner Cassadee Pope debuts at No. 6 with "Stupid Boy" (117,000). It's the second top 10 hit on the Digital Songs chart for Pope, who launched at No. 3 three weeks ago with "Over You" (152,000).
Back in the top 10 this week, Justin Bieber's "Beauty and a Beat" (featuring Nicki Minaj) is up 8-7 (108,000; but up 1%) and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop" zooms 13-8 (102,000; up 23%). The latter's rise comes at the same time it enters the Pop Songs airplay chart at No. 36 (known as Mainstream Top 40 on Billboard.biz).
PSY's "Gangnam Style" descends 6-9 on Digital Songs with 101,000 (down 18%), marking its 14th straight week of 100,000-plus sales. Rounding out the top 10 is Ke$ha's "Die Young," holding at No. 10 with 94,000 (down 2%).
Digital track sales this past week totaled 22.79 million downloads, down 2% compared with last week (23.28 million) and up 1% stacked next to the comparable week of 2011 (22.48 million). Year-to-date track sales are at 1.255 billion, up 6% compared with the same total at this point last year (1.186 billion).

The lead single from his sophomore album, "Unorthodox Jukebox," which bows at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 192,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, holds at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart and takes over atop On-Demand Songs. With a second week in charge of the Hot 100, Mars has spent multiple weeks at No. 1 with each of his four leaders. His first No. 1, B.o.B's "Nothin' on You," on which Mars guested, began a two-week reign the week of May 1, 2010. He followed with No. 1s as a lead with "Just the Way You Are" (four weeks, 2010) and follow-up "Grenade" (four weeks, 2011) prior to "Heaven." Mars becomes one of nine male soloists in the Hot 100's 54-year history to tally at least two weeks on top with each of his first four leaders. Usher holds the mark among men with a still-active streak of nine multiple-week No. 1s over his first nine trips to the top. George Michael and Elvis Presley each spent multiple weeks at the apex with their first six No. 1s apiece, while Lionel Richie has logged more than one week at No. 1 with each of his five leaders. In addition to Mars, Bryan Adams, Jay-Z, Nelly and Rod Stewart have all spent multiple frames atop the Hot 100 with each of their four No. 1s. Among all artists, Mariah Carey established the record by registering at least two weeks at the summit with each of her first 12 No. 1s. "Heaven" holds at No. 1 on the Hot 100 with top Streaming Gainer honors, as the song becomes Mars' first No. 1 on the On-Demand Songs chart (which launched earlier this year). The track bounds 5-1 on On-Demand Songs with a 34% gain to 1.2 million on-demand streams, according to Nielsen BDS. (It logged 1.39 million overall streams for the week.) "Heaven" spends a second week at No. 1 on Digital Songs with 222,000 downloads sold (up 13%) and bullets at No. 2 for a third week on Radio Songs with 135 million audience impressions (up 4%), according to BDS. "Heaven" wins a decisive victory over the Hot 100's runner-up song, Rihanna's "Diamonds," which had led the list for three weeks before being dethroned by "Heaven." Mars' track widens its lead over "Diamonds," as the former gains by 12% in overall chart points and the latter slides by 3%. "Diamonds," atop R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs for an 11th week, leads Radio Songs for a third week (139 million, up 4%). It dips 1-2 on On-Demand Songs after five frames on top (1.19 million, down 2%) and falls 2-4 on Digital Songs (121,000, down 15%) after leading the list the week of Dec. 1. Recent Billboard magazine cover act the Lumineers' "Ho Hey" continues climbing the Hot 100 in its 28th week, rising 4-3 with top Airplay Gainer kudos. The top title on the Rock Songs chart for a third consecutive week also ranks at No. 3 on all three Hot 100 component charts: Radio Songs (102 million, up 15%), On-Demand Songs (1.02 million, up 5%) and Digital Songs (131,000, down 1%). After reaching a peak of No. 2 three weeks ago, Ke$ha's "Die Young" drops 3-4 on the Hot 100 as, as previously reported, the track is decreasing in airplay due, in part, to its title following the shooting deaths of 20 children and six adults in Newtown, Conn., on Friday (Dec. 14). The song shows drop-offs in airplay (97 million, down 19%), sales (94,000, down 2%) and on-demand streaming (966,000, down 8%) (although it had begun declining on Radio Songs and Digital Songs before last week's tragedy). Still, the 19% loss marks the greatest percentage plunge among the top 40 titles on Radio Songs. Maroon 5's former nine-week Hot 100 No. 1 "One More Night" holds at No. 5 on the Hot 100 and Flo Rida's "I Cry" is stationary at its No. 6 peak to date. Justin Bieber's "Beauty and a Beat," featuring Nicki Minaj, lifts 9-7, powered by gains on Digital Songs (8-7; 108,000, up 1%), Radio Songs (12-12; 62 million, up 8%) and On-Demand Songs (17-13; 696,000, up 1%). Phillip Phillips' "Home" retreats 7-8 on the Hot 100, followed by fun.'s former No. 3 hit "Some Nights" (8-9). Taylor Swift rounds out the top 10, as "I Knew You Were Trouble." surges 15-10 with the chart's top Digital Gainer award. The song stormed onto the Hot 100 at No. 3 eight weeks ago as a then-preview track to Swift's album "Red," arriving that week (Oct. 27) atop Digital Songs with 416,000 downloads sold. After descending 3-23-59-73-77, it began rebounding three weeks ago (47-32-15) after becoming the second pop radio single from the set, following the three-week Hot 100 No. 1 "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." "Trouble" pushes 5-2 on Digital Songs (167,000, up 29%) and 27-15 on Radio Songs (51 million, up 32%). (It is not available to subscription streaming services and, thus, does not appear on On-Demand Songs.) Among highlights below the Hot 100's top 10, PSY's former seven-week No. 2 smash "Gangnam Style" passes 3 million in release-to-date sales , according to SoundScan (as it descends 11-18); Mariah Carey's 1994 holiday hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You" rises to No. 25 after re-entering last week at No. 29; Cassadee Pope, crowned champion last night (Dec. 18) of the third season of NBC's "The Voice," scores the top debut at No. 40 with her cover of Keith Urban's "Stupid Boy"; and Ellie Goulding's "Lights," the No. 1 Pop Songs title of 2012, spends a 52nd week on the Hot 100 (at No. 43), becoming just the 30th song in the Hot 100's history to log at least a year on the chart. Check Billboard.com tomorrow (Dec. 20), when all rankings, including the Hot 100 and On-Demand Songs in their entirety and Digital Songs and Radio Songs, will be refreshed, as they are each Thursday. (Due to the holidays, the weekly Billboard 200 and Hot 100 top 10 recaps will post on Thursday Dec. 27 and Jan. 3, instead of on the Wednesdays of those weeks. All charts will refresh on Billboard.com at 6 p.m. ET on those two Thursdays).

Thank the Lord that we are back to 2 songs with 150k+.
The Voice is up to 2 T40 hits this calendar year (vs. Glee's 3, though 2 were pre-chart-change).

"Fly Away", "Walk Like An Egyptian", "Ironic" ... seriously? Walk Like an Egyptian mentions the Middle East in passing.. Ironic was pulled off the air because of those lyrics, it is understandable, and it wasn't forever blacklisted, which would have been completely idiotic and uncalled for. "Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye He waited his whole damn life to take that flight And as the plane crashed down he thought "Well isn't this nice..." And isn't it ironic... don't you think"

I Knew You Were Trouble isn't on streaming yet? My predictions were based on just Sales and Airplay that's why I thought it would crack Top-5.

Ho Hey looks like it will be the next #1 song (look at that radio update!), I predict that it will be the Christmas #1 this year, and stay atop the chart for at least 5 weeks. It'll be massive. :'(

I Knew You Were Trouble isn't on streaming yet? My predictions were based on just Sales and Airplay that's why I thought it would crack Top-5. Much like with "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", "I Knew You Were Trouble." will likely not be added to streaming outlets until after it peaks.
