3. KE$HA – Die Young: 154.752 (- 9.196) DAMN!! :O No, please, it's not the only song on radio with such lyrics. Right! Scream & Shout, and Locked Out Of Heaven could also be blacklisted, but they're doing even better...

Hopefully Ed Sheeran perform in the Grammys. The timing is just perfect, as the song is rising in airplay, it gets a surprise SOTY nod!

Not sure why so much shock over Keshas drop. People dont want to hear "like were gonna die young" after reading the names of 20 6 & 7 year old kids. Yes, there may be other songs questionable...but this is ironically very specific.
Does anyone know if the stations minimizing spins or completely dropped the song is happening across the nation, or more concentrated in the Northeast part of the USA?

Yeah, I find people's shock and dismay over Kesha's song dropping really distasteful. Radios should be sensitive to the nation's mood right now, and especially those personally affected if they possibly can. It's a small act of kindness and respect.
And for those still stuck in the Pulse world, it had peaked anyway.

It sucks from a chart watcher/Ke$ha fan, but it's completely reasonable and I am glad they are doing it for respect.
At least C'Mon almost got +1 million...

I would understand if it was something like Pumped Up Kicks, but Die Young is about living every day as if it was your last. It doesn't even have anything to do with children dieing.

No one wants to hear about dying young right now--regardless of the song's theme, it's a very poignant line that isn't going to fly. No question.

Yeah, regardless of the context/what the line/song actually mean, the title and common line is "Die Young," which can be very off-putting right now given the circumstances. It doesn't matter what it actually means, because any random person hearing it on the radio could be really upset, so it's completely understandable.

Don’t You Worry, Don’t You Worry Child. See heavens got a plan for you Honestly the overall uplifting, positive message of that song makes me think it will do better. Ketchup's song is just about partying and the lyrics are simply too easy to take at face value for PD's to spin in high rotation right now.

"Lets make the most of the night like we're gonna die young" - No so bad.
Now...
"we're gonna die young" "we're gonna die young" "we're gonna die young"
Really bad.
It has to get banned.

"Lights" 2.0 Um, I wonder if its going to lift up by this upcoming Friday. I need this, Till the world ends and a couple of end of the world songs to gain traction on the sales and radio chart.

It's just OK for radio to lessen the airplay for Die Young, casual listeners don't usually understand what the song actually is and most especially for pop songs where it's almost always about the hook and this song has "like we're gonna die young" as the hook and hearing that line (on party song for that matter) will sound disrespectful to an ordinary listener in this time of tragedy. And I'm sure Kesha and her team is not upset about it anyway, they'll understand given the situation and they'll just move on to the next single, it already did pretty good anyway

Oh God, if the shooting had happened a year ago you can bet some nutjob conservative group would have blamed the massacre on Foster the People somehow.

Wow. They sure are discarding it like nobodies business. So, when people's emotions, displeasure and uncomfortability towards the content of the song dies down, will they start playing it again? Seems unlikely.

I always thought the lyrics of "Die Young" were kind of weird. Anyway, this is nothing new. A lot of songs that were deemed insensitive to play were dropped after September 11 too.

Do you happen to remember what those songs were (or at least some of them)? It'd be interesting to see which songs suffered as a result of that event.

I don't know all the songs, but Drowning Pool's "Bodies" went from the Top 10 at Alternative to very little airplay in a matter of days.

Any info on Pumped Up Kids airplay? I was honestly disgusted to hear it on the radio the other day. Probably THE worst song to be playing after that tragedy.
