Hm.
This is just me, but I actually used the personal notes function that was added at whatever point to v4. The option for it is still there when I edit my profile, but I don't believe there's a way to actually access them, is there?

@xoxo, as far as i know the only way to access them is by going to edit profile and then the personal tab (which is what i assume you're referring to). the notes i made months before v5 are still there but since editing my profile was the only time i ever added any or accessed them, i never knew any other way to get to them.

Well, before on v4 they were at the bottom of the main page of your profile. You could edit them as normal, but when you were ready to just view your profile page they were right there at the bottom in their own section. Staff could apparently view these as well in v4 though, I believe? I guess what I'm asking is, is there a way to make it so that they show up on your profile like before? According to this, if I understand it right, the only way to access them is by going to the Personal tab, which seems clunky at best for actually viewing/accessing them. I don't believe it's been brought up in Support either; maybe I'm the only one who cares HAHAHA.... The only reason I really ask is because that's how I keep up with potential PMA nominations and whatnot for the year-- all the one's I'd saved from v4 are still there too-- but this is really inconvenient since I can't just click links and whatnot.

ohhhh, I see. from what i can recall, staff was not able to see posters' personal notes. if any other staff member remembers differently they can (and will) correct me on that. i do agree that for someone who actually used it regularly, it's inconvenient the way it is set up now. i just never did, i used it to keep links to old signatures in case i wanted to use them again. i'm looking around now and don't see any other way to get to it except for that, which is lame b/c there's plenty of space on the 'main' profile page for it to be there.
i've said this before but one thing i wish we could steal from atrl (or from lipstick alley) is a blog feature...iirc you can go to a member's blog through their profile (plus atrl has a subforum for it so you can scroll through to see who has updated theirs most recently). either way, for the purpose that you use your notes it seems like it would be more convenient to have something like that attached to your profile.

Yeah. I really doubt anyone seriously used that feature, which is why I'm the first to bring it up in, what, two months? I also used it to save old avatars I really liked in case I wanted to recycle them, but even the old format made that easier too since it would actually show the images (if they were coded) instead of just having to blindly open every single link in the notes and sift through all the tabs, or reup them from my computer provided I still had them saved.
I'm tempted to make an account on the support forum-- or wherever-- just to bring it up because it's seriously irking me.

i have like ten things that i've been meaning to bug the support forum about after not finding any thread for it and have yet to do it isn't procrastination the opposite of virgo's innate tendency to get shit done quickly? i feel like i'm letting our sign down. story of my life, that.

Suggestion for a work-around: you could create a PM conversation with yourself and keep track of said posts in there? You probably thought of that ages ago, but in case you haven't it might help!

I actually hadn't, because my go-to POA usually consists of bitching about things I want corrected instead of actually attempting to come up with alternative solutions.
I'd still like the notes section to return so I don't have to sift through PM pages, but this is a nice quick fix. Thanks for the tip!

I had this lengthy three paragraph post all typed out for the "People Like Us" thread about how music has changed so much so fast and how that's hurting not only Kelly, but Ke$ha, Avril, and others and it was very insightful and one of my favorite posts I've ever made here and I click post...
You need to provide a message.
WHAT?!?!?!?!?! FADJSBFIABEORIABWOERYFBOAFYABOUYFBWYEBFROAWUBFOAIUSBDFO >:( Of course you get that message and nothing is saved. Not even going back retreives what you wrote. GAH! I've gotten this message a few times before, but always when I was editing a table in the Games section, so it wasn't a problem as I had the table copied anyway, but it was sitll annoying. Now it's cutting into my actual posts and I ain't here for that at all!

^ Suggestion: report the issue at Proboards Support and let them know that it's been happening constantly to many of us for some time.

Any chance the date and time could be added to the top of the page as it was in the old version? Thanks and nbd if not :)

Thanks and nbd if not :) I had a look and found this topic: support.proboards.com/thread/448914/clock-on-board, specifically the fourth post down. That bit of code there renders the time the page was loaded at the top in this format: "Fri Jun 07 2013 12:15:48 GMT+1000 (EST)", as you can see from that poster's site. I'm not sure if that can be changed to anything more user-friendly, but yeah it does seem possible :)

"This was removed because all devices that can view the forum already have a clock." This isn't the first time they've removed something because they deemed it unnecessary, but without actually asking if other people agree, and then you get a support thread asking how to get it back. I for one have missed the forum clock. If no one is bothered by the format of the time stamp Slizzard posted I have no problem putting that in. I wish I knew how to code it so that it was shorter though.

Actually my main complaint for the moment is that the 'participated' feature isn't showing all of the most recently bumped threads in which I've participated. i.e., five minutes ago when I was going through my most recent participated threads, THIS thread was not listed. I only noticed it had been recently updated b/c I was looking at Latest Topics. Now that I've just posted in here, it is showing up, but there's no way of knowing if or when it will disappear again. At first I thought that maybe it was only doing it with threads where I posted once several weeks before and then didn't say anything else, but then I noticed it was doing it with Kelly threads and I do post in those frequently enough that I shouldn't have this problem with them.
This is happening a lot lately and it's extremely annoying, esp. on days when I'm short on time but want to see if anyone's responded to a particular thread.

Okay, I know zero javascript, but I gave it a shot and I think I managed to improve the timestamp format to something more "public-friendly": slizzardtestforum2.proboards.com/ . Does that work?

Lozzy yes that is perfect thank you ahhhhhhhhh! :) This is the code I used: pastebin.com/raw.php?i=26HU1GcB Just paste that into the Global Header (that's in Admin > Structure > Headers & Footers > Global Header & Footer) and hope it works here!

Nice! Is it possible to move it at all? I feel like it would look nicer on the same level as the participated button, right to the left of it. Don't know if that's possible at all; probably not, but just a thought.

Don't know if that's possible at all; probably not, but just a thought. maybe, but i'm not sure. that would require putting it beside or on top of the navigation bar (which would be a better place i agree) but i'm not sure the navi bar can be shortened, or that you can place objects on top of it. i'll play around in one of lesser-used layouts one day to see if i can do that.

The search function/tag functions continually crash/I get a message saying "Can't connect to server". Yet everything else tends to work fine for me. I'm not sure if it's due to V5 or just an issue in general?

I was able to move the clock to several other locations at the top of the screen, but not to the area josh requested (which would be my vote on where to put it too). I'll take some screen shots later and you guys can let me know which location you like best.

Alrighty: Option #1Option #2Option #3Option #4Option #5#5 and #3 would be my 1st and 2nd votes respectively if I could figure how to shift it to the right instead of having it in the center. Replacing the word 'center' in Slizzard's code with 'left' or 'right' causes it to shift all the way to the left. Also, ignore the non-centered banner in the screenshots above; the banner was just never centered in the skin I used to test this all out.

Please use imgur, I spent 5 minutes trying to load those. I think what we have now is my preference.

I like #2 the best. If it could move a few pixels down and be in line with all the other buttons then I would love it! :)

#1 - lol, I almost didn't even see it #2 - not bad. I'd like it better if it has the same font and style as the rest of the buttons in that row #3 - i like it #4 - my OCD is killing me #5 - I also like this one
3, 5, or how it is now

So it looks like we have votes for #2, #3, #5 and "how it is now", with no clear leader. Anyone else have a preference? If not, I'll be the tie breaker and put it in location #5. Also, if anyone has any idea how to modify Slizzard's code to make it non-bold, that would be helpful too. It's currently the only bolded item at the top of the screen, when it reality it's probably what's least worthy of being bolded out of everything up there.

^ Just remove the bold tags, near the bottom in the "document.write" thing Thanks. Yeah, that was pretty simple. For some reason I noticed only the <br> tags and not the <b> ones.
