well upon multiple listenings...here's what i think... it's not atrocious. But i take back everything i said about him being the reincarnated modern-day Michael Jackson. This is no where even near the brilliance of what Michael did. How foolish of me to think otherwise? But i ohhh soooooo wanted it to be true. this song basically just comes and goes and there is really no "goosebump moment" that is present when I'm hearing a lead Britney, Gaga, Katy, Ke$ha, etc...single. I know, i know, i'm a Top 40 junkie, but still. There are no goosebumps, and with a wait THIS long, and with his past discography, I would expect something along the lines of Sexyback. No i'm not expecting some electro dance anthem, but i do expect some "moments" and I'm just not feeling anything beyond a generally catchy tune. I do agree with the "album track" idea. I don't feel this is a lead single, comeback-of-the-millenium type of song. It's not terrible tho. It's just not OMG like i want it to be. Jay-Z's contribution reminds me of a Katy re-release, in which she later added a rapper to gain Urban and Rhythmic play. Not at all necessary. it IS catchy, but this isn't Bad Romance, California Gurls, Die Young, We Found Love, Diamonds, or any of those lead singles...even Taylor's. It's good, it's breezy, but it just comes and goes and i'm like..."ok, what should i listen to next?" I'm not going to be Facebooking all my friends saying "you all HAVE to hear this masterpiece!!" lol, no. of course i'll be buying his album and basically anything he does from here on out, and i'm open-minded to whatever. But this is missing that special spark, something to send it into the stratosphere and really change everything. I hope it does well tho. It already has. I'll give it a B-/C+ for now, and that is after 7 or 8 spins. disappointed, yes. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) But very open-minded about what else he has to offer.

Timberlake has always been urban music wannabe, but never achieved it, he is really clever strategically not musically, he's all about hype, and his first album was all about Pharrell and his genius. Really, he has no voice at all and he is very average...

Pharrell should be the last one laughing. This song's success could single-handedly put his talents back in demand. Pharrell has been in demand more than Timbaland this year. As a producer Timbaland only had 1 album placement and that was on the Step Up soundtrack. Pharrell in comparison had 10 with numerous other projects aka Scoring the 2012 Oscars. Plus he had songs on 2 of the most critical acclaimed R&B and Rap albums this year. Tim is the one that needs this song. Should have clarified, I meant mainstream/radio demand. Both have been absent from radio in the past couple years. Of course, it's not like either are hungry or couldn't get work if they wanted it, so there's no reason for Pharrell to feel salty or amused or...anything, really. But if he was concerned about making hits again, then I'd like to think he'd be rooting for S&T in a way as it could crack the door open for him. And I wouldn't be surprised if Pharrell ends up on the album at least once.

i think Justin is very clever, but i just wish this song had a "moment". I like it tho, and it's growing on me immensely. I think this will be an easy #1. Hopefully his 2nd single has that WOW factor.

I thought the album was already finished and produced entirely by Timbaland.

From whom both The Neptunes and Timbaland have been working with they are both going to have a resurgence this year on the charts.

I'm curious if they're planning on a radio edit, and what they're going to cut out. The song is 2 minutes longer than the average radio hit. They cut out the first minute of the song. The Radio Edit from All Access is 4:27 I produced my own edit cutting out the entire intro and Jay-Z's rap verse. It ended up being 3:10. I wonder if there will be an official no rap version.

Woke up randomly half an hour ago and couldn't go back to sleep. Checked Pulse and saw this is already available on iTunes. Heard it once with open mind --and liked it! A lot! Was not really a fab of the first minute but was hoping for something better -and it came! Cool retro vibe, good vocals, nice production and catchy parts. I'm not a string r&b fan but this is solid and brings back funky music with some Timba style that still sounds fresh. Much better to me than Diamonds or Die Young or Cali Gurls on first listen. Downloaded it from iTunes already and will listen to it for the second time in the morning ![:-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Good luck JT! So it loos like after Mariah bragging about bringing R&B back it'll be Justin and Beyonce pushing that wagon

The first thing I thought when I heard this was Robin Thicke.
Justin apparently thinks he's bringing back sophisticated RnB but it just sounds done already. This song isn't awful but it isn't all that great either. If you like tracks like Sexyback, Like I Love You, My Love or Rock Your Body this song isn't for you.

The song clicked for me midway through. This. Surprisingly, I really love this. This types of songs are not usually my cup of tea but this one is, maybe it's because of Justin but all I know is I find the entire thing very catchy and smooth. I don't know if this will be big on Pop after the initial hype wears off but like josh said Bruno showed us that different kinds of songs can smash (I'd never thought that LOOH would be the smash it became on Pop after the initial hype wore off). I think he can get a nice peak on Rhythmic and Urban and Jay-Z's verse should help. All in all I love this and I'm glad JT is back! ![:d](http://images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif)

It' s not a bad song. It's just extremely boring & dated + i'm not here for his vocals at all.
He hyped it way too much.

Hmmm I listened to this about 5 times last night, ive woke up and cant even remember how it goes, i keep singing suit and tie in a scream and shout sort of rythm lol. Anyway not sure how this will do here in UK w/o a video, im surprised its on itunes i thought they would have waited til a few weeks after the video release tbh. plus im not sure it can chart high on hype alone, i mean i havent heard anything about this 'big' return other than on pulse, it seems like he announced it and then just threw a song out, I like it better when an artist tells you when they start recording, then you get all the build up, finding out what producers they are working with, guessing the sound and stuff like that. this just all seems a bit rushed, especially since hes only been working on it since june, i thought he'd been working for years in secret lol

I don't mind it, but I was kinda hoping that for so long away from music when he finally came back he would really BRING IT. IDK, maybe the hype will be big enough to do its job because the song isn't an instant attention-getter. ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif)
