Which performance was the best? Consider vocals, production, energy, etc. NOTE: I know certain songs are missing words, artists, etc. I just did the best I could with the limit of text allowed. NOTE (2): The Dave Brubeck tribute, despite being very short was an advertised/promoted performance, therefore it is included in this poll. The Hunter Hayes performance was not advertised, and was not a full performance. It is not included. The same thing goes for Juanes and his promoted performance of "Your Song."

I loved Maroon 5/Alicia Keys, Lumineers and Rihanna. I hated what Juanes did. The guy is a great musician. Let him sing one of his own songs.

Kelly and Carrie.
Rihanna, Maroon 5 Adam & Alicia, and Justin Timberlake were great as well.
Two Idols tied for the top two imo.

Completely unsurprised by the poll's results, but: 1. Levon Helm tribute 2. The Black Keys/Dr. John/PHJB 3. Kelly Clarkson 4. Justin Timberlake 5. Carrie Underwood or Rihanna/Mikky Ekko

Kelly knocked it out of the park on this one. Carrie was great as well. Rihanna was surprisingly good, too, but Kelly was just stunning.

Kelly, Carrie, Miguel are the top 3 imo.
Surprisingly, I enjoyed Rihanna's performance tonight.

Kelly, easily. She was sheer perfection and elegance. I wanted her to keep singing. I throughly enjoyed the performances by JT, Rihanna, Bruno, and Carrie's "Two Black Cadillacs". "Blown Away" was off for me tonight. Surprisingly, I enjoyed Rihanna's performance tonight. This. I usually can't stand Rihanna performances but it was nice for her to sing a beautiful ballad for once.

Hmm. My ranking would probably look like this:
1. Levon Helm tribute 2. Miguel & Wiz 3. The Black Keys / The Preservation Hall Jazz Band / Dr. John 4. Bob Marley tribute 5. Mumford & Sons 6. fun. 7. Jack White 8. Maroon 5 & Alicia Keys 9. Rihanna & Mikky Ekko 10. Justin Timberlake & Jay-Z 11. The Lumineers 12. Kelly Clarkson 13. Dave Brubeck tribute 14. Carrie Underwood 15. Taylor Swift 16. Juanes (I'd probably slot Hunter Hayes in here as he was good but that was too short to be higher.) 17. Closing medley 18. Frank Ocean 19. Miranda Lambert & Dierks Bentley 20. Ed Sheeran & Elton John
Everyone was at least decent.

I think the reason she's getting praise for this was almost solely because of "Blown Away". After hearing that, I personally wish the entire performance had been "Blown Away". It definitely sounded different, but it certainly wasn't "off"... At least not to me, not at all. Hmm. My ranking would probably look like this: 1. Levon Helm tribute 2. Miguel & Wiz 3. How anyone could rank them outside the top 3 is beyond me.

She was definitely sharp at points during "Blown Away", it wasn't the best she's ever performed that song...but that's my opinion. She nailed the end of TBC spot on tho. Regardless, she's obviously a great vocalist.

Regardless, she's obviously a great vocalist. Really? I didn't hear any sharps at all? To me, but I'm sure not to everyone, the entire thing was pitch perfect. I usually have a pretty good ear, particularly for sharp notes (as I think they're more obvious than flat notes). I'll definitely take a few extra listens with my headphones on... maybe you're right. I do think she was a bit nasally, but that seems to go hand-in-hand with the use of her head voice, so I've come to the conclusion that it's simply her tone. However, I definitely agree with the last part! ;)
