I'm so tired of seeing those kids hop around. People complain about going to a Britney show and how they "might as well be listening to the CD" but this is truly the definition of that description. Does she even come on stage to say hi to the fans that came after the cameras go off?
If she hates show business so much, she should not perform. I think it's disrespectful.

In case you aren't aware, Sia's been onstage and singing live for all of those performances, just not facing the audience or moving around. For example, she was the one sitting with her back to the audience at stage left on "Chandelier," and she sang while laying on a bed on Seth Meyers. I'm not a huge fan of the not-showing-her-face execution either, but it's not like they're playing a pre-recorded track and sending dancers while she sits in the dressing room, haha.

The album is available on iTunes Radio First Play, for those who haven't heard it. I've never heard any of her other albums, but was she always doing the slurry, mush-mouthed thing? The new album is slickly produced pop music at its finest, but she gave zero fucks about pronunciation. And the hiding the face thing is just silly.

I can't take her "I don't want to be famous so I'm not showing my face" schtick seriously. If she really didn't want to be famous, she wouldn't have turned in an album like this with a lead single that sounds like it was meant for Miley Cyrus. The not showing her face in videos or performance is helping to create a strange allure around her that could actually help to generate more publicity.

I'm actually surprised RCA is on board with this marketing plan. They're wasting money on these elaborate sets for performances, and she isn't even in the video for the single or on her album cover. On top of that, you can't understand a damn thing she's saying on any of the songs (no exaggeration). It just....doesn't make sense.

I would think it's more disrespectful and indicative of a strong hate for show biz if an artist refuses to sing live and she/her team blatantly LIE about her singing live. At least when Sia performs, you know you are always going to get live and emotional vocals. With Sia, it's about artistic license that she is taking extremely liberally but...as a true artist, that is her prerogative. If you don't like it, don't support her. It's really that simple.

Currently obsessed with all 6 minutes and 40 seconds of "Dressed in Black." I would have been fine with the standard edition being that track 11 times repeated

I think it's kind of ridiculous that Sia is releasing her own material but doesn't want to be famous. That's called having your cake and eating it too. If she wants to perform the songs and have complete ownership of them, but not be famous, don't promote them. If she's trying to get paid and wants the songs to be successful commercially, well then, that's what people call the price of being famous. I think wearing a mask or something, which would allow her to engage the crowd, would be a better solution that literally ignoring the hundreds of people there. It's just completely ridiculous and makes no sense at all.

How many of you actually listened to her Howard Stern interview? She explained this - she still has all the ambition of any other pop star, wanting to get their work out to as many places as she can to try and earn a #1 hit, but her own issues with anxiety are a major set-back when it comes to being out in public, touring and performing, etc.
The oddball performances are meant to be the compromise between her aspirations as an artist and her personal health/comfort/safely.

I find the ending of 'Burn The Pages' haunting, I love it.

No, there's no deluxe edition of the album available anywhere at this time; RCA may be planning for a re-release/expanded edition down the line. Time will tell.

I think wearing a mask or something, which would allow her to engage the crowd, would be a better solution that literally ignoring the hundreds of people there. It's just completely ridiculous and makes no sense at all. But if she can pull it off without having to show her face or, as you say "have her cake and eat it too," why can't she? As Az said above, she's explained the situation and it essentially comes down to health issues, specifically mental health issues. Should she limit or restrict herself because of mental health issues because that's pretty much what you're saying here. If she didn't have those issues and this 'image' was a choice 100%, I still think it's an interesting approach at disconnecting the music from the person in a way. It basically tells us that we don't *need* to see what a singer looks like to enjoy the songs. While most pop stars play up their looks and base an image around that, Sia is going the opposite route and it seems to be working. Either way, it makes plenty of sense, it's just not conventional. Unconventional =/= bad.

It's a refreshing take. She did say in that Billboard interview that she didn't care about commercial success. But she also said, "I get to sit at home with the dogs on the sofa, record in a closet in the office, send them off and, if I'm lucky, make a million dollars." :)

Set to debut at #1 with 50k! This is great news! I can't believe it's possibly set to go #1 with only 50K. At least that won't be the lowest, so at least there's not that dark cloud hovering over!

'Big Girls Cry' should be the next single, followed by 'Burn The Pages'. Great album. First one I've bought in a while.

I had submitted a quick review and my computer decided to reboot and make updates soooo...I lost it. This is easily Sia's best album. I will go into more detail when I get a chance but I was almost in tears at several points, especially the runs during the epic closer.

The SoundScan-era low for a No. 1 album has been below 45,000, so you've already seen it, bunifah. :)
